AirVPN on Raspberry-Pi OR AirVPN & TOR on Raspberry Pi

Recommended Posts

I was wondering that how can i setup AirVPN on Raspberry Pi, a cheap Single Board Computer at ~40$ or less

it features a nice processor at 700MHz (which you will get in expensive routers)

512Mb RAM

Runs Linux

A VGA Card with HDMI and Component Out

Two USB Ports

1 Ethernet Port

You can use it as a Firewall, or Wireless Access Point

What i was wondering that how can i securely setup AirVPN on Raspberry Pi

i have some tutorials on seting up OpenVPN on raspberry Pi but not AirVPN specific(I am low to mid level tch guy)

here are some pages i have found out

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20916

http://lifehacker.com/5978098/turn-a-raspberry-pi-into-a-personal-vpn-for-secure-browsing-anywhere-you-go

http://readwrite.com/2014/04/10/raspberry-pi-vpn-tutorial-server-secure-web-browsing

http://readwrite.com/2014/04/11/building-a-raspberry-pi-vpn-part-two-creating-an-encrypted-client-side#awesm=~oET3yhEaIvwinz

The second option which i was thinking about was a Raspberry Pi runing TOR over AirVPN and then use this "Pi" as wireless access point

I have found tutorials on how to make a TOR Router using Raspberry here

http://spectrum.ieee.org/geek-life/hands-on/a-diy-tor-wifi-access-point

http://makezine.com/projects/make-36-boards/how-to-bake-an-onion-pi/

www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Tor-relay/

So i need guidance on two things

1- How to setup AirVPN on Raspberry Pi ?

2- Once i have installed Tor on the NOOB Raspberry OS, how do i router all TOR Trafic through AirVPN ?

I think this will make a very secure Hardware solution for all the security paranoid here while still being cheap.

Thanks to the Great AirVPN Team and the Great Guys Helping here

Ok, i have researched on the Topic More.

It seems there is another SBC (Single Board Computer) more powerful than Raspberry-Pi

and it is "BeagleBone Black"

http://beagleboard.org/Products/BeagleBone+Black

It has got a more powerful CPU at 1GHz

Hardware Crypto Acceleration

Here are OpenVPN speed test

http://datko.net/2013/11/27/bbb_openvpn/

Also see

I prefer BeagleBone Black because it has a more powerful CPU and Hardware Crypto Acceleration which means

it will push more OpenVPN traffic than Raspberry Pi
