Or at least the servers I used. This came after many emails and chats with Freenode staff.

 

Please whoever was spamming, don't do it. There are hundreds of proxies you can use-- don't use AirVPN nodes.

I've been able to access Freenode from Air's server Persei, both using the browser interface and chat.freenode.net via Pidgin + SSL.
