Switched connection: cannot surf with AirVPN + weird upload

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was using AirVPN since some days ago; now I'm trying to connect from another location through the same PC but I cannot surf.

I login in the client, i connect to a server, but then:

  • I cannot connect/ping to any internet IP
  • a huge upload bandwidth (around 30/40MBps) seems to be used (but nothing is using that for real)

I tried a system restart, or selecting another server, but with no results.

I cannot understand what changed or how to solve the problem.

Please, give me some advice.

Thank you

What type of router is it and did your router come with any utility software? I recently bought a NetGear and it came with "NetGear Genie" software. I had the same issue of supposedly huge upload rate but no actual data. Came to find out it was the NetGear Genie software searching out all the nodes on my ISP and feeding back that info to the router. I thought I was being DDOS'd at first tbh.

Uninstalling that software took care of that problem. Even if you have a different brand router, if it came with a utility software, it could be worth a look.
