airvpn403 0 Posted ... Hi,Before I start I should probably say that I (think that I) have a slightly better understanding than that of a complete novice, but I am far from an experienced VPN user.Basically, I am on a University network. I know they are capping the speed at 1.5Mbps as they've informed us of this. They do not however, cap speeds on the University website. The vast majority of the time when I'm connected to the VPN, my speeds are <1Mbps. For some reason though, without me doing anything differently (as far as I can tell) my speed will rise as high as 90Mbps for an indeterminable length of time. During these periods, other students still receive capped speeds so I know that they are not being lifted.I therefore have 2 questions:1. Firstly, how are they leaving the University website with uncapped speeds, and is this something I am able to exploit?2. What is happening in order for my speeds to effectively become uncapped, and is this something I am able to make permanent?Thank you in advance! Quote Share this post Link to post
PirateParty 49 Posted ... 1 I am not able to answer (sadly no idea). Did you university require you to give them your mac address? How does their WIFI system work? airvpn403 0 Posted ... Nah we don't have to give them the MAC address of a device. It's an eduroam network with 802.1x encryption, so in order to get on the internet in the first place we have to set it up by logging in with our account and installing certificates etc. It's also identical regardless of whether i'm using Wi-Fi of ethernet which again, confuses me more haha.Pleeeeeeease, SOMEONE must have some idea??
