Ireland and UPC - Took me 8 hours to figure it out

If you're from Ireland and with UPC you'll need to think long and hard about AIRVPN (or possibly any OPENVPN service).

 

It took me 8 hours to figure out how to connect.

 

Multiple reboots of both my laptop and router and modem and multiple factory resets of my Asus router and Thompson modem.

 

In the end I had to hack my cable modem to make it into 'cable modem only' mode and install the Merlin firmware on my Asus router.

To be honest, I don't know how you are having this problem. As an Irish user, it took me only a few minutes (if not, less than three) to set it up. My router was unaffected and no settings needed to be changed.
