I believe AJ blocks US IP addresses from streaming since they recently(?) made a deal to get in to some cable networks in the US, but I could be wrong.

Confirmed. In a U.S. zip code, they are available on 4DTV, Dish, Direct TV, Comcast and Verizon.

I can access the live streams from Frankfurt (Velorum) but not from Virginia (Andromedae).

Tried w/o tunnel using Verizon and also got redirected to http://america.aljazeera.com/

AlJazeera's live stream is still geoblocked on all US servers. Is there any way to get around this without using a server in Canada or beyond?

The actual satellite/cable transmission is banned in the EU

Guaranteed more radical than Al-Jazeera which is really just an Emirates version of CNN. PressTV is the real deal when it comes to alternative news.

The flash live stream is hosted on brightcove.com, not on aljazeera's domain. I believe routing brightcove through a server outside the US is needed to enable the live stream to work.
