Selectively bypassing VPN

Hello.

 

I would like to be able to easily connect to the freenode IRC network, which seems to have banned certain servers, and wondered if I could easily configure things so that my IRC connection alone could bypass the OpenVPN connection and connect over my normal IP.

 

I guess the alternative would be to use a BNC to connect, but I would like the option of both if possible.

Hello,

 

in this case you can just add in your routing table appropriate routes to the IRC servers IP addresses in order to have the traffic to them not tunneled.

 

For example (in Windows, in a shell or script with administrator privileges, for a single destination IP address to be reached out of the tunnel, after the connection):

 

route.exe ADD <destination IP> MASK 255.255.255.255 <appropriate gateway IP in your network>
