Allow incoming connection on certain ports on Linux

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have multiple machines on a router based on NAT. I have port forwarding set up such that port 22 of the public IP forwards to port 22 of one of the machines.

I'd like to be able to accept incoming connections on port 22 after I have connected to the VPN. Right now, once the VPN connection is activated, incoming connections on the machine's real IP address are only possible over the LAN, but not when coming to the ISP-assigned IP address over the Internet.

Hello!

You can bind ssh to the desired IP address (if you use sshd, "ListenAddress *" binds to all existing addresses). However, there's something unclear from your setup description: is the connection to an Air VPN server performed by the router or by the machine where ssh runs?

Kind regards
