ANSWERED airvpn client will not accept my root password (Solved)

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Debian 9 (stretch)
Have installed airvpn via the repo (added to my /etc/sources.list & downloaded signing key)

when I try to start airvpn from the menu (or the terminal as a standard user) a gui appears saying eddie needs root privileges, and asks for my root password. when I enter my root password, it returns a password incorrect error.

airvpn will start and opens eddie from the terminal when running as root.

how can I get the airvpn gui to accept my root password,
(I do not want to have a root terminal open when using airvpn)

thanks

Got it sorted

With not allowing root access to the machine, gksu was trying to use the root password (which does not exist) so after opening gksu-properties and changing authentication from su to sudo, it now accepts my administrator (sudo) password.

hope this helps other

Regards

could someone please mark this thread as solved (i can't find how to lol)
