Question On OpenVPN given problems with new iOS version

As some iOS users are noticing, the most recent iOS update, 1.2.5, has had serious issues.

 

According to the folks at OpenVPN, this has partly been the result of how Apple implements the controls on VPN API, and an issue with tls-auth vice tls-crypt. Some users are saying they can get around some of the issues by switching to tls-crypt.

 

So two questions. First, can anyone explain the difference between tls-auth and tls-crypt?

 

Second, how do you change to tls-crypt if it fixes the issues?

AirVPN doesn't yet support tls-crypt but support is expected this year sometime.

 

When it is available you'll have to download new configs with tls-crypt for openvpn for iOS since openvpn for iOS doesn't allow editing of already added configs (last I looked).
