Install airvpn ubuntu server (terminal) with run at startup and network lock

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I'm kind of a noob in Linux, so please keep it simpel. I'm trying to setup quickbox.io on Linux server (no ui only ssh), so I got the seedbox working but now I want to run AirVPN in the background.

I used this page to get me started: https://airvpn.org/topic/11431-using-airvpn-with-linux-from-terminal/

Sadly I couldn't find any other useful information. I'm now able to start AirVPN using:

sudo openvpn AirVPN_Netherlands_UDP-443.ovpn

But this is not running in the background so it will automatically stop as soon as I want to do anything else. My question is how would I be able to run this in the background. Also I would like to be able to enable "Network Lock" and start AirVPN automatically as soon as I start my computer.

Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong, because I know there is a command line portable available on the download page, but I have no clue how to use that .

You could use "crontab" and "screen", something like this:

https://airvpn.org/topic/16800-linux-how-to-start-openvpn-on-boot-and-auto-log-on/?p=37685

Someone else posted something after that too. But I prefer to mess with stuff in "/etc" as little as possible. I find it can come back to bite you when you upgrade.

Also, if this "seedbox" is not on your local LAN then you may want to look at this too:

Thank you so much as far as I can see it looks great. I'll start trying it out tomorrow, but I read you need key files where do I obtain these? Never mind I now know how to obtain them, but I'm wondering how I got it working without these files?
