Just started new to everything,

Just started trying to get connected, my AirVPN states Not connected network exposed.

I'm using this for kodi. Can't get that to work either.

 

My network is wifi when I click on the icon it has a connect to VPN but when I click

it it is shaded so can not add one.

 

Please explain how to's or a URL how to's for my linux have the latest linux mint 18.2

Obviously you're using Eddie at least according to your first paragraph.  Just turn on network lock (big button) and then click "connect to recommended server".  Or, go to the servers tab and choose a server.
