possible man in the middle attack when downloading experimental version of eddie?

Just downloaded experimental eddie version 2.13.1 on my home connection while disconnected from vpn. I scan everything with virustotal and similar sites compulsively and found

which was strange because I don't remember seeing a false positive from here before. I checked the 512 hash against my copy and it didn't match. Then, I connected to vpn and got a copy that matches the 512 hash provided and doesn't come up as a detection on virus total. Any ideas?

This is just a broken download, you can also see that the digital signature is missing from the corrupted file you downloaded.

Downloads are always with TLS, MITM is impossible.
