Hello!

If you use the Beta version of the Eddie client, all your 3rd party firewall software and such should work just fine with Air .

With the current "Stable" version of the Eddie client, you *may* run into issues, unless you try to do things such as add the Air software to various exceptions lists and such.

Although Network Lock might still run into problems. There's info on the Beta in my signature guide.

is there a downside to be aware about the beta?

This is a beta just because we want to be aware the downsides, not the other way around

So any feedback is welcome, especially with 3d party firewalls.

WFP is a better solution than the Windows Firewall, but some 3d party security software can

still install low-level network drivers which can get priority even over WFP. So that's why more

scrutiny is needed especially with some more rare software like Comodo and Avira.

Just don't use them both on the same machine.

WFP is  Windows Filtering Platform. IT is used by windows firewall. Avira uses Windows Firewall so there is not a 3rd party driver involved.

Zhang is saying that the current Eddie client (the AirVPN Software), 2.10, uses Windows Firewall as a default, when you use its Network Lock. But that the new experimental Eddie, 2.11.5, uses Windows Filtering Platform instead of Windows Firewall. This means that the experimental client *may* work when you use 3rd party security programs, such as those from Avira, in your case - except that in some cases, software such as Avira *could* install drivers (a kind of software) deep within your system, so that even Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) doesn't work. Which is why more testing is needed, to see what happens; which is also why Air wants feedback on their Beta client. Just don't use two similar kinds of security software on your system, such as 2 anti-virus products.

I hope that's more clear.

You can also check my guide in my signature - I do list some stuff about the Beta.

In short, you'll have to try the Beta/Experimental client and see if it works for you, as we can't guarantee if it will or not. But it's worth a try, since one of the big benefits of using WFP, is precisely that Eddie will maybe have an easier time working with such 3rd party software, such as Comodo and Avira .

do you consider comodo to be a antivirus? I think it is just a firewall . (better than win one)

I think comodo and avira(antivir only) are not the same kind of program . Are they in your view?

No they're different. I'm just trying to say that security software can sometimes cause problems for Eddie. If you want to use them, that's up to you ^.^. Ones like zhang would likely suggest that you don't use such garbage software, but that's something you'll have to ask him - his answers can be quite fun

You can't click on zhang because he's the Donald Trump of IT security, so unless he wins the presidential election, you may never be able to click on him.

Jk lol.

You can't see someones profile unless they've made it public, such as myself or you're friends with them. But if you hover your mouse over their name, you can click "Send" if you want to PM them. If we tell you that Mac OSX and Windows are garbage software, will we make you switch to Linux? . As that's how far it'll go, if you go by what people say around here hahaha.

I have used Comodo CIS for years now and have always set it up as it is shown in this link. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-install-comodo-firewall.htm I have also used Avira and it is a good AV as well.  I just prefer having one program for permanent security as i feel it is less resource heavy on my PC and Comodo CIS Firewall/AntiVirus/HIPS protection is a very strong suite. Coupled with a weekly scan for tracking cookies etc with Super Anti Spyware I have never had any sort of infection on my PC in over 6 years. I have used AirVPN for approx 3yrs with Comodo CIS and they work together very well. Have never set up any special rules for AirVPN either just set it up as shown in the link and set AirVPN as a trusted program in the CIS Firewall settings.
