airvpn server only works for about 5 minutes

Recommended Posts

And then I get an error message 'this site can't be reached'.

When I change airvpn servers I can access the internet for another 5 minutes before getting the same error. Internet browsing works fine when I am not logged into an airvpn server.

I started getting this error when I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10.

I tried disabling norton smart firewall, but the problem still behaves the same.

Any ideas?

Hello !

Please check the Status page to see if the server(s) you're using are having issues. If so, change to other servers. Sometimes you have to try servers in completely different countries.

You may want to check:

- TAP drivers (thread stickied in troubleshooting forum)

- That your IP & DNS IPs are set to "Obtain Automatically" on all IPv4 Network Adapters.

- 3rd party firewalls, like the Norton one, can cause issues; especially if you're using Network Lock. You can try check in Norton and see if you can put AirVPN.exe & OpenVPN.exe in an exceptions list of any kind.

Server status is reported OK. If I change to a new server I again have access for about 5 minutes before all sites are unreachable

EXCEPT  -->  airvpn.org!

Access to this website is fine even though I can't get anywhere else on the net (website header shows server name).

Which makes me suspect it's a DNS problem.

I selected the options to automatically set DNS. While connected DNS is listed as 10.4.0.1 which appears to be airvpn DNS server IP.

If I go to Win10 network and sharing

1) click on Ethernet connection

2) click on properties

3) click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) & select Properties

4) click on OK without changing anything

--> DNS works again for another few minutes before everything becomes unreachable except airvpn.

Welcome to my world! Same problems as you since I use Win 10. Changing the TAB-Drivers versions didn't help at all for me!

I you have found any solution I would appreciate it, if you can share it here!

And just like the OP, we can't help you when you give us such precious little information.

I have already described my (same) problems here in an other thread and i have an open support ticket. but so far there is no solution from the air vpn stuff about the problems what walkerman has described!

So the route check fails once, then succeeds and everything seems to be normal. Then DNS fails, apparently. The reason you can view airvpn.org is because it's cached. So is every other site you view in those five minutes.

Try disabling route and DNS checks.

I ran into the same issue with a Windows 10 machine as well. I switched from a 5GHz wifi network to a 2.4GHz one and it seems to have resolved my DNS issues that would occur anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour or two.

Yes, everytime I try to connect I get that 1 failure message and then it connects.

I can browse everywhere through the forums and review the updating server status. I thought caching would only cache individual pages that I have viewed.

Disabling route and DNS checks - is that to prove that it's cacheing or to solve the Win 10 connection problem?

I'm using an ethernet connection to my router, but I may test using a wireless connection to see if that makes a difference.
