ANSWERED Tunnel Driver Not Installing

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the Windows Client for my laptop and logged in once it was setup. I chose a server, and then tried to connnect. It got as far as "Installing Tunnel Driver..." And then It always comes up "Driver Installation Failed". I think I copied the log properly, if not, please tell me which I need to do so you can help me connect my laptop to one of the servers.

BTW, I see it says Windows NT, I don't understand much about computers, but my OS is Win 7 Ultimate, 32bit. Could that be the issue? I also ran this as Admin Mode when opening the program, same results. Any help is greatly appreciated. It works fine on my Android, thank you!

As long as you chose the 32bit version of the client installer you should be ok on that front.

Have you tried uninstalling, then running the installation again as "administrator", you can usually do this by holding down shift and right clicking on the installer package, there should be a "run as administrator" option.  I know in some cases this has overcome this issue for a few people in the distant past, also upon the first time you run airvpn you might want to do the same rightclick\run as admin, as I think eddy 2.9 actually does the install of the driver the first time you try and connect...don't quote me on that but try it.

I will try to uninstall it all and then redo it per your advice. I will let you know how it goes in about ten min. Thank you.

So this most certainly did not work. I'm not sure if my widows seems to think it is a different version or what. I am connected via OPENvpn but I'd rather get this working the way it should...

So I figured that maybe there was an issue with this particular Profile, and created a new one. I had the same issues. I still cannot install that Tunnel Driver. I don't understand the problem. I think I should have mentioned this before, but I also have installed previously Virtual Box. I have seen this use a sort of TAP driver. I went into my Device Manager and completely removed both TAP drivers that I saw. I then uninstalled AirVPN, then re-downloaded it, and reinstalled it. Same Issue. I then uninstalled it, and downloaded the other version, so now I have tried both 64 and 86, and neither have worked. Any ideas? If no one has thought this already, yes, this is an unauthorized version of Win 7. Don't judge me. Anyway, I can use OPENvpn to connect, but I really would rather the actual AirVPN client to work. I have also tried running in Compatibility modes. Nothing. Any help? Any suggestions? I'm willing to do anything up a to a reinstall. My Laptop is FDE, and I'd really rather not do that all over again, takes forever. Its an older laptop, but its trusty and dependable. Again, thank you Air, for all of your generosity.

I have fixed my own issue. I used a DeepClean Uninstall Program to remove the previous Intalls, along with any TAP associated device and adapters. After I did this, the program ran fine, and as you can see, I am logged into the server right now. Yay for me So, no more help needed on this end

Just chased this problem for a couple of days, uninstalling, cleaning registery, re-installing etc.; no luck with any of that. Finally found in Network Connections that the virtual TAP-Windows Adapter was disabled and ddi not enable automatically. Enabled it and finally all is fine. Cheers.

I have solved this problem too by going in to Network, change network adapter settings....it then opens all network adapters and deleted all Tap connections. Although the adapter still stays visible, the adapter is cleared and Air Vpn then loads and runs fine.
