Connected via OpenVPN, able to initially open pages with Chrome but unable to browse

Recommended Posts

Fedora 20 operating system.

I can connect using OpenVPN via NetworkManager to US, GE, NL and UK servers but after initially opening pages I am unable to browse. For example; with Google Search I can open the initial search page and one page of results, but the after clicking on the links they do not open; with Flickr half of a page of images loads but then they stall and clicking on an image the next page does not load.

I have tried...

Amending my routers DNS settings from my ISP's default to OpenDNS

Clearing Google Chromes DNS cache and sockets.

Clearing cookies (just tested with Netflix).

Temporarily disabling the firewall.

I cannot have that unusual a setup - does anyone have any ideas?

Did you get this sorted in the end? I use F20 also but I've never experienced this issue. It does sound like a DNS issue, though I'm no expert. Have you tried different ports and TCP instead of UDP? If Staff don't reply it would be worth a support ticket. I'd be interested in this one myself.

No, not fixed it yet and may not have time until the weekend - thank you for replying, as it is good to know someone on the same OS does not have the issue!
