Port forwarding,torrent clients and Mac addresses

Hi,

 

I have a port forwarded in my AirVPN settings to allow p2p traffic to move.

 

Can someone tell me how that forwarded port functions?

 

I mean does the forwarded port use the Mac address of my host machine to identify where the traffic is moving to and from or does it use my IP address?

 

Any help for me to understand this a little better is appreciated.

Hello!

 

Any packet with destination our server exit-IP:port is forwarded to your system VPN IP:port.  In IPv4 MAC addresses are NOT included in packets, your computer network card MAC address never gets out of your local network.

Are the ports I have forwarded in my AirVPN set up the same ports the VPN server would use to make an external connection?

 

For instance if I have forwarded port 12345 in my vpn set up for p2p traffic and I connect to a vpn server does that server then use port 12345 to connect to the outside world of would it use a different port?

 

I guess that would be a neat trick to pull off so it probably does not?
