Connection unstable: disconnects after short period

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My problem is the following:

I use a Synology NAS to connect through airvpn to the internet. It took some tweaking but I managed to make it work thanks to a tutorial on this forum. My problem is that the VPN disconnects very frequently.

To give you guys an idea I enabled the connections archive:

Connection date Disconnection date Duration Download Upload Server Protocol Flow 1m 2s ago 50s ago 12s 7 kB 9 kB Virginis udp Normal 2m 13s ago 1m 1s ago 1m 12s 8 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 2m 23s ago 2m 11s ago 12s 8 kB 7 kB Virginis udp Normal 3m 34s ago 2m 21s ago 1m 13s 9 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 3m 43s ago 3m 33s ago 10s 8 kB 9 kB Virginis udp Normal 4m 52s ago 3m 42s ago 1m 10s 10 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 5m 2s ago 4m 51s ago 11s 7 kB 7 kB Virginis udp Normal 6m 14s ago 5m 1s ago 1m 13s 17 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 6m 24s ago 6m 13s ago 11s 24 kB 33 kB Virginis udp Normal 7m 30s ago 6m 23s ago 1m 7s 7 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal

From time to the connection is stable, but as far as I can see it is never been stable for more than 12 minutes.

I use the VPN for torrents. Might it be possible that there are too many active connections? I toned the max number of connections down to 2 active downloads times 45 peer connections. This doesn't seem high to me, but wanted to put it out there.

Does anyone have a clue? Downloading and uploading does work. I use UDP port 53.
