Use VPN portforward to bypass ISP port block?

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

I have a 4G connection and would like to have an FTP running for easy access to some files. However, my ISP blocks incoming connections so you are not able to reach the FTP server from outside the local network.

They will not open any ports on their end.

So I'm wondering if it's possible to use AirVPN portforward to open the ports needed and that way have access to my FTP server from outside my network?

Best regards

Thanks, it worked.

Hello,

yes, it's possible. About an FTP server, please see here: https://airvpn.org/topic/1700-ftp-server-and-client-on-air-vpn/?do=findComment&comment=1702

Kind regards

Hello,

very well!

Does this mean that only 10 people would be able to connect to the FTP at the same time?

[...]"and you want a range of 10 ports to handle 10 simultaneous passive connections"[...]

No. However, the limit pertains to the data exchange connections. In Air you can forward up to 20 ports so you can add some more simultaneous data exchange connections to your FTP server.

Kind regards
