Problems with new tor browser bundle ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I use airvpn / openvpn in vpn over tor configuration, using the tor proxy 127.0.0.1:9150

With the new version of the tor browser bundle, I'm not able to connect anymore, to any server, while with the previous version (before 17.12.2013) I can connect regularly.

Do you know of any changes made in new tor browser that create this problem, and a solution ?

This is the log:

Seems that it needs some credentials, but what are this credentials ?

Thanks

Hello bookmark2!

I've been experiencing similar issues on this. There are some interesting recommendations provided in another posting:

https://airvpn.org/topic/10599-airvpn-over-tor-issue/?hl=airvpn

I modified my tor configuration file according to the recommendations. Now my torrc looks like:

SocksPort 127.0.0.1:9150 PreferSOCKSNoAuth
ControlPort 9151
CookieAuthentication 1

So far, so good - I'm now able to start Tor  via 127.0.0.1:9150 and it seems to be possible to establish a connection to AirVPN through SOCKS 127.0.0.1:9150 TCP 443. However, after a couple of seconds, the VPN connection is closed due to a inactivity timeout. I don't know why this is, but I found another forum posting  that could provide an explanation.

https://airvpn.org/topic/9136-airvpn-over-tor-using-linux-gives-inactivity-timeout/

It seems to be a known bug, which is apparently still unresolved and I'm not sure about the current status of this issue. At the moment, I'm a little bit clueless...

Best regards!

The reccomendations provided in the first link caused the impossibility to start Tor browser, so I have to wait that the bug will be solved, apparently...

Thanks for the infos, bye!
