Hello all, I'm still fairly new to all this but I've learned that I can get better speeds with WireGuard protocols than with OpenVPN but with WireGuard I keep getting multiple handshake timeouts back to back. I've already set my my MTU to 1280, use only IPv4 in Eddie and even changed my WiFi channel to a less used one but despite all that it keeps getting timeout and then when it reconnects I have very low speeds. I don't know what to do and would aprreciate any help. Eddie_20241104_134626.txt

ANSWERED Can't get rid of Handshake Timeouts
udp_monkey33 posted a topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
Hello all! I already once posted about this but thought I might do it again because it's been a while. I have the following issue that I'm getting handshake timeouts on a very frequent basis when I use TCP (or Wireguard?). The easy solution might be to just use UDP, but then my download speeds are really really low and then it's not really worth using the VPN anymore. I'm on a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection, unfortunately can't use 5 GHz or Ethernet due to router placement at home. I tried manually adjusting WiFi channel to a less crowded one but still didn't help. One user has suggested I should run my computer in safe mode with the networking drivers enabled, to see if any software is causing interferences and I was able to give my PC an internet connection via USB Tethering but I couldn't launch the Eddie client to get a VPN connection, so yea. Anyway, I really don't know what to do. I appreciate any answers and thank in advance. Kind regards! -
https://nyaa.si always times out with an "ERR_TIMED_OUT" I have tried using servers in other countries as well as different servers within a country but to no luck. Using the route checker it usually says "HTTP 200" for servers I have tried but it still times out when accessing from a browser. Some countries/servers say "HTTP Fail (no connect)." Strangely, Ping fails on all servers but not when I try for a mirror site (https://nyaa.iss.ink).

Does anybody have issues with web.archive.org while using Air. Sometimes it works perfectly for me, other times it can be really slow or just completely unreachable.

AirVPN, I'm having trouble connecting to certain sites using the VPN service. For example, I'm trying to connect to DesignShack.net but I can't seem to do it with the AirVPN Client running. I have no problem connecting to the site if I'm not running the AirVPN Client. I've tried the following trouble shooting steps. 1) Add other DNS Servers to the airvpn client - Error went from DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN to Connection Timeout error 2) Turn on/off IPv6 3) Add other DNS Servers to Wifi network adapter settings. - Same as 1) 4) Added AirVPN Dns servers on top of the previously added DNS Servers on both AirVPN Client & Wireless adapter. - Same as 1) 5) Ping Designshack.net - Request Timeout errors. I would say this happens to 3-5% of the sites I'm visiting. I'm running OS X 10.10.5. I have Network lock turned on, not running any proxies. Any ideas or suggestions would be heartily welcomed. Thanks in advance. ---------------------- Log file entries follows : I 2016.05.12 13:25:16 - AirVPN client version: 2.10.3 / x86, System: OSX, Name: 10.10.5 / x64. 2016.05.12 13:25:17 - Reading options from /Users/FrancisChung/.airvpn/AirVPN.xml. 2016.05.12 13:25:17 - Hello, I'm using Arch Linux. I installed eddie from the AUR repositories and have tried the official release to the same effect. I log in and try to connect to a server. This is the output for both clients. Any idea what's causing the issue? So my girlfriend has recently started her masters in Germany, and her internet provided to her flat is from the University. She wanted a VPN and AirVPN seemed to be the most flexible choice, so we started there. Right off the bat, it seemed that the network was blocking all VPN traffic (it was impossible to connect to VPN, or even authenticate credentials while on the university network, but tethered to my phone we could connect to the VPN with no problems). It turned out to be even worse than that: even VPN over SSH is resulting in timeout errors, which seems to imply that the network is specifically blocking connections to AirVPNs hosts, as opposed to just VPN traffic (though I'll be the first to admit I'm relatively new to this and might be misdiagnosing). It turns out that the University actually had her manually set up her network with a self-assigned IP address, gateway, and manually specified DNS servers. I'm sure that's somehow related, but all I could think to try was adding another DNS (which didn't appear to help, but it also seems that the host names are being correctly resolved anyway). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I'm rather baffled here.

Hi, I noticed that I can't access the zippyshare download servers when I have AirVPN activated (they mostly look like this: http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/...). When switching off AirVPN, the pages work like they should and it doesn't say that the page timed out. The main page where you can upload stuff can be accessed normally (the http://zippyshare.com/) even with AirVPN activated. Can somebody help or did zippyshare block out the AirVPN IP's from their download servers? I can do some screenshots if necessary, but my system is in german. Windows 7 64Bit/Google Chrome. Thanks in Advance. Best Regards, Kahzel

Hi everbody, I wanna use VPN over TOR but there is no Internet traffic after successfully VPN connection. Besides VPN connection disconnects almost after 1 minute because of TCP connection timeout. I've configured proxies from Advanced section of NetworkManager and I'm using SOCKS protocol as proxy type. I'm using Linux OS and NetworkManager to manage my network interfaces and VPN connections. My OpenVPN version is 2.3.0. I've already read this manuel but I couldn't find any solution. Is there any suggestion to overcome this problem? https://airvpn.org/tor/ Solution: - Use Eddie client, - Enable control port and cookie authentication in your torrc file as described at this URL https://airvpn.org/tor/ - Set Tor as connection mode in AirVPN -> Preferences, don't use TCP + Socks Proxy as me (my first mistake) - Be careful with the port numbers; because default port numbers in manuel and Eddie client are respectively 9150 and 9151 but in my torrc file they are 9050, 9051 and it's very easy to overlook for example my situation. (my second mistake) - You can export ovpn configuration file which is special for "VPN over TOR" from Eddie client, so you can use that file to connect VPN from command line using openvpn command. For me it's more easy than using Eddie client.

ANSWERED New user unable to connect to any server

I signed up for AirVPN yesterday and downloaded and installed the Windows client on my laptop running Vista. After many attempts I have been unable to connect to any servers. I have tried the recommended server and also selecting several different servers in different countries to no avail. Each time "checking route" times out. Hi, I keep getting pretty regular server timeouts and disconnects, sometimes multiple times per day, sometimes the connection seems stable for days. At first I thought it would occur only on some servers (specific locations), but this does not seem to be the case. I've had these issues now in Ukraine, Romania, Sweden, Netherlands, ... (these are the locations I used most). Also using UDP or TCP does not seem to make a difference. My VPN Client is Viscosity running on OS X 10.9.5. The log - which is identical with every disconnect - looks like this (disconnect on Zaurak): Mar 30 18:43:29: [server] Inactivity timeout (--ping-restart), restartingMar 30 18:43:29: SIGUSR1[soft,ping-restart] received, process restartingMar 30 18:43:29: UDPv4 link local: [undef]Mar 30 18:43:29: UDPv4 link remote: [AF_INET]82.118.16.175:443Mar 30 18:43:36: [server] Peer Connection Initiated with [AF_INET]82.118.16.175:443Mar 30 18:43:38: Preserving previous TUN/TAP instance: tun0Mar 30 18:43:38: Initialization Sequence Completed Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, Trying to connect from iPad to UK (area) proxy servers per instructions here https://airvpn.org/ios/ Connection not established, throws "Connection timeout", I've tried "Advanced Options", "Resolved hosts in .ovpn file" and "All servers for area or region" as per here https://airvpn.org/topic/10000-connection-timeout/ OpenVPN log attached (openvpn.txt). Any suggestions most appreciated. Thanks! Swain openvpn.txt

Greetings, I am attempting to forward a port through the client interface on the website to use for P2P. I choose TCP/UDP and a port, which was available, and it says it is forwarded. However, when I hit the button to "Check" the little light stays grey and says "Not reachable on server IP over the external port XXXXX, tcp protocol. Error : 110 - Connection timed out - Checked 0 seconds ago". I am connected to AirVPN at the time. I tried disabling Windows Firewall, which I can't imagine has anything to do with it, and also the SIP firewall on my router. Also have it set to open. Doesn't make a difference. I am also getting messages in Vuse that I am firewalled, even though I have set the static inbound port properly to what I forwarded on the website. Something clearly isn't happening but I am at a loss.

Hello Community ! I've read the forums and came across a few post where users are having difficulty "checking" to see if the ports are open. "Error 110" you might know it as. I came across the same issue myself after opening the selected port. Before making a topic requesting for help/ticket. Make sure you tried to run the "program" and make it listen to your selected ports. Afterward run the "check" again and you should get a successful completion! Made this topic as couldn't really find a clear straight forward instruction on the setup. If anyone else has something to share, feel free! Thanks for reading!
