I've been using Air VPN on my iOS device for years and it has not given me any problems. Now it will not connect at all on my iOS device. If I try to connect to VPN in Settings, it will simply say "Connecting" forever without ever doing so. It continues to connect normally on my other devices just not iOS.

Many vpns support other protocols apart from openvpn and wireguard. I wonder if airvpn will support ikev2 in the future. Also, it would be great if airvpn had an app for iOS apart from manual setup.

Hello, I think this issue is primarily related to OpenVPN Connect app more than AirVPN, but wanted to see if any had been having the same issues or a modification to AirVPN settings might help resolve. Since upgrading to the OpenVPN Connect iOS app to version 3.3.0, the connections went from consistent and reliable under version 3.2.3 to now regularly dropping, especially when changing states. Worse than the dropping out, iOS (15.6) will continue to display the VPN icon as if it is still connected to the VPN. This will clearly not be the case though when checking IP. The result of all this is that currently not able to us AirVPN on my iOS devices as would be my preference. Welcome any suggestions if others have encountered this. Also checked the OpenVPN forums where there have been comments on issues with 3.3.0, but limited answers there. Thank you.

Exactly as the title says. Running a speedtest using the iOS app while connected to AirVPN kills the connection. Here’s a brief screen recording to show you what I mean: IMG_3620.MOV As you can see, I successfully connect to AirVPN through the OpenVPN app, verifying the successful connection in the iOS Settings as well, but then when I run the speedtest, soon after the upload portion of the test starts, the Mbps number freezes (although the test appears to continue and finish running). Going back to Settings and OpenVPN, I see that my VPN is now disconnected. I’ve exported and attached the VPN logs. I don’t see anything about an error or disconnection? Correct me if I’m wrong though. I lack experience interpreting these. I googled for this problem and found only one other possible mention of it in the AirVPN forums. My iOS and all involved apps are up to date: Phone model: iPhone 12 Pro iOS version: 15.6 OpenVPN app version: 3.3.0 Speedtest app version: 4.4.2 I tested it and I can run Speedtest without any problems with my other VPNs. I’m really curious about what could be causing this! Not exactly an urgent issue, especially because it’s not being reported by other users as far as I can tell, but I’m a tech support engineer and I love troubleshooting so. lol VPN logs.txt

Since installing iOS 14 on iPhone, I have been having issues with my AirVPN connection via OpenVPN. On multiple instances it will show there is a connection after coming out of sleep, to include showing the VPN icon, but there is no internet access. This happens both on cellular and WiFi connections. I have tired downloading new profiles from AirVPN, rekey, switching to TCP from UDP, deleting and reinstalling OpenVPN, but still happens. If I cycle the connection off/on in OpenVPN manually, then all works normally. The issue only happens on a background reconnect. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions? Also checked OpenVPN forums but no info there either.

I use AirVPN for many years and super happy about it. On iOS I used the official openvpn app but recently discovered an alternative: passepartout (Edit: since it's a commercial app, not sure it's ok to paste here but here is the link https://apps.apple.com/jp/app/passepartout-openvpn-client/id1433648537?l=en) So far it has great features but I'm not sure if it's really secure or impacting Air's features in any way. Does anyone use it or have some info about it? Thanks!!

With the new openvpn connect for iOS you can activate the feature vpn on demand for leak preventing. See screenshot from client at the App Store So it is possible now to create openvpn profiles for iOS with this feature. Can you make a generator for that or publish new profiles in the future?

Hello. I’m trying to figure out how to import and use SSL or SSH on iOS and Android using the OpenVPN client. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I can’t even get a connection to any server. any ideas on how to get this working?

In OpenVPN for iOS, Is it possible to view the list of specific servers in a country profile before connecting to one? Eddie has that option, and I sometimes use it if I need a server in a specific location. For iOS, I’ve downloaded a config file for a country, but OpenVPN seems to choose the best server within that country automatically, invisibly. (Which is usually very helpful but sometimes not.) I’ve downloaded some config files for specific servers within that country, so I can connect directly to a specific server if I want, but having to connect to each one first to see its performance is silly. Thanks.

Hi all Relatively new to using VPNs, and although I am very familiar with the concept and the benefits, have only just got round to getting started. I'm wondering if someone can please help me with OpenVPN on iOS! I have used the configurator and imported profiles of several servers, and yet the OpenVPN app remains in 'Disconnected' state regardless of flicking the switch on. If I head to Settings on the device, the VPN entry is listed, but the switch will not move from the Status entry, and remains 'Not Connected'. The app doesn't even appear to be generating any logs whatsoever and I'm wondering what on earth I've done wrong...I got everything going on my MacBook Pro in about 2 minutes! Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. I was wondering if it is possible to use an ad-blocking non-AirVPN DNS on iOS? Why do we have to use the original airVPN DNS in the first place. We should have a choice of what dns server(s) we wish to use. Does anyone know if and how to get this to work? Thanks.

It would be nice to see a mobile app of Eddie for Android/IOS. The OpenVPN app is not really easy to use for non technical people. Air did make a great job to make a simple manual, but altough people with less technical skills only want to push a button to connect. Some friends of mine even don't have a computer and use only tabelts and there smartphones. Because they don't understand how the Openvpn app works and don't want to read a manual they use other VPN vproviders like Nordvpn, ipvanish or even betternet because it's free an simple to use. Has Air any plans to develop a mobile app?

When using configuration generator, is there a recommendation for what location to choose? I see a footnote recommended to choose by continent, how does this work, especially when using iOS. I'm mainly concerned with performance.

Hi there, I often find that my iPhone has disconnected from AirVPN during the day. Looking at the dashboard, it appears that it's failing reauthentication because of the 3 connection limit. However this occurs even when my phone is the only of my devices connected to AirVPN. This typically happens when handing over from a mobile data connection to wifi, but also happens periodically when just using mobile data -- I guess when I temporarily lose connectivity or fall back to 3G. I've seen that other people have reported the same problem. AirVPN support suggested that I use TCP, rather than UDP, to aid detection of disconnections -- but I'm doing this already, to no avail. In my OpenVPN client I have the following settings:Seamless tunnel: on.Connect via: any network.Reconnect on wakeup: on.Protocol: adaptive.Compression: full.Connection timeout: none.Network state detection: active.Force AES-CBC ciphersuites: on.Google DNS failback: on.Layer 2 reachability: on. By design, the OpenVPN client doesn't attempt a reconnection after it's informed of an auth failure, which is what the AirVPN network sends if you exceed the maximum number of connections. I've suggested that it might be useful for AirVPN to have a 1-2min grace period on the max connection cut-off, which should fix this problem. Has anyone found a work-round in the meantime? Many thanks,Stuart.

Hello, i am not aware if anyone else experiences this issue, but when i lock my phone when i am not using it, and wake it up again some minutes later, even with full network access my client fails to re connect to the tunnel. Below i have attached my log file and the view i get from the app after unlocking my device. Any help the user base could provide would be much appreciated. I also have a support ticket regarding the matter but they seem to be clueless as to the cause. OpenVPN Log File.txt

Hello All, Do you have any suggestions for somewhat-reliable connection to AirVPN servers using iOS devices in China? I ask this because OpenVPN connections over land-based ISPs barely work here without an SSL tunnel. Connection to servers using SSL tunneling through Eddie works great... but that's only for Linux/MacOS/Windows. Here are the ideas I have so far; can you please add if you have any suggestions? 1. Connections over cell service are much more reliable than land-based ISPs. The downside here is that I have to use my data plan, and doesn't work with my Wifi-only iPad. 2. I could hardwire a laptop to my router then try to share my connection through wifi with my iOS devices once the SSL tunnel is established. Has anyone tried this? This of course would only work when I'm at home. That's all I can think of. Any ideas? Thanks!

I’ve setup AirVPN on my iPhone and I’ve noticed that when the iPhone is locked it keeps opening vpn sessions regularly. The pattern is the following: every ~10 minutes the iPhone starts a session, it lasts about 15 seconds and then the session is ended. Is this kind of behavior can be troublesome for the AirVPN servers and/or the iPhone (battery life)?

Whenever VPN disconnected o iPhone it doesn't connect back. Is there a way to creat an "Always On" or "Connect on Demand" profile for the AirVPN? Thank you
