  1. Sorry for the Noob question... I'm familiar with Mac but not Linux. I downloaded the "portable" version of Eddie to my "Downloads" section, but where do I go from there? Where do I move the extracted Eddie folder? If it was a Mac, I would just drag the folder to "Applications", but I don't see a location like that in Mint. Thanks!
  2. Hello, I downloaded a portable Linux version of experimental Eddie 2.11.5 64-bit (no mono required) and it crashes every time at start with this error: [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall' threw an exception. ---> System.EntryPointNotFoundException: Mono_Posix_Syscall_get_at_fdcwd at (wrapper managed-to-native) Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall:get_at_fdcwd () at Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall..cctor () [0x0000a] in <34b68016c17845bba60316001d489522>:0 --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Windows.Forms.XplatUIX11.UpdateMessageQueue (System.Windows.Forms.XEventQueue queue, System.Boolean allowIdle) [0x00117] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.XplatUIX11.UpdateMessageQueue (System.Windows.Forms.XEventQueue queue) [0x00000] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.XplatUIX11.GetMessage (System.Object queue_id, System.Windows.Forms.MSG& msg, System.IntPtr handle, System.Int32 wFilterMin, System.Int32 wFilterMax) [0x00022] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.XplatUI.GetMessage (System.Object queue_id, System.Windows.Forms.MSG& msg, System.IntPtr hWnd, System.Int32 wFilterMin, System.Int32 wFilterMax) [0x00000] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.Application.RunLoop (System.Boolean Modal, System.Windows.Forms.ApplicationContext context) [0x003e9] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run (System.Windows.Forms.ApplicationContext context) [0x00014] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run (System.Windows.Forms.Form mainForm) [0x00006] in <5d999439b3404adfac86e7eebb5f00d6>:0 at Eddie.UI.Linux.Program.Main () [0x00086] in <e4296a97969a4ae491a778564ae29acf>:0 Previous versions of portable Eddie always worked well for me. I'm currently using 2.11.3. I'm on Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 (codename "Betsy") - Debian Jessie based distro.
  3. So, I'm running a distro of Linux called GalliumOS. It's made from the ground up to work better with Chromebooks (I'm using an Acer CB3-131 Chromebook) than other distros, but it's based on Xubuntu. It should, in theory, work fine with the Linux version of AirVPN. I wasn't able to get the .deb version of the installer working, but the official non-mono portable version launched just fine. However, when I tried to log in, I got a "Cannot login. (Bad PKCS7 padding. Invalid length 0.)" error message. I have NO idea what this could be about, and I'm looking for any help I can get. I'd like to add that I'm new to Linux in general, so this may have something to do with my difficulty in resolving this issue. Anyway, thanks for any help. It's appreciated.
  4. So a couple of hours ago my client crashed after I had a freeze(to many windows open) and was forced to hard reboot. The client normally runs phenomenally, I have crappy graphics card so 16 crashes from time to time if I'm working on a lot and I've never had issue reconnecting. This time, however, after logging into my computer and starting up the client it gives the following error in terminal and the icon does its little dance and disappears, signifying it does not want to play Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall ---> System.DllNotFoundException: $mono_libdir/libMonoPosixHelper.so at (wrapper managed-to-native) Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall:_L_ctermid () at Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall..cctor () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at AirVPN.Platforms.Linux.GetExecutablePath () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.Core.Platform.GetProgramFolder () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.Core.Engine.Initialization () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.UI.Linux.Program.Main () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.TypeInitializationException: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall ---> System.DllNotFoundException: $mono_libdir/libMonoPosixHelper.so at (wrapper managed-to-native) Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall:_L_ctermid () at Mono.Unix.Native.Syscall..cctor () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at AirVPN.Platforms.Linux.GetExecutablePath () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.Core.Platform.GetProgramFolder () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.Core.Engine.Initialization () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AirVPN.UI.Linux.Program.Main () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 I've only been on ubuntu a few months and have come leaps and bounds, but this is chinese to me. Can anyone translate?
  5. Hello, does anyone know how to create a portable Windows 10 install to act as a live CD on otherwise non admin computers so that i may use the VPN? I have already tried WintoUSB and the program fails with the error "failed to start system API". Does anyone know of another way or different software i can use?
  6. I was suffering this problem for a long time in the past, but now I have found the reason for it and I want to share this - maybe it could help someone. I was using different Linux versions of portable Eddie-Clients (x64) and I had this issue when Eddie failed to start sometimes at first try after system reboot, so I had to kill 'airvpn' process as root and restart it again. It happened about 1 time out of 5 and it was a bit annoying to be honest. I experienced this issue on different Linux distros: Linux Mint, Linux Mint Debian Edition 1 and 2... Now I have found the reason for this: I was running portable Eddie from a NTFS formatted drive - I was needed this drive to be Windows-compatible at that time, but now I don't. So, about a week ago I formatted it to Ext4 and now portable Eddie starts everytime without problem! The conclusion is: Linux version of portable Eddie sometimes fails to start from NTFS filesystem. That's it. I just wanted to inform everybody.
