  1. Hello, i've been an air vpn client for some time now and recently i've found that my bandwidth is 50-75% lower in tunnel then out. I have a direct connection to the router have a 50/50U/D connection that is confirmed out of tunnel. My general configuration is UDP 443 I've also tried 80 and using TCP nothing helped. I was hoping that someone could help walk me through steps that can improve my configuration. (update) I would also like to mention i've tried using an SSL configuration and no dice. I've read through multiple threads and I think maybe my ISP is caping but I doubt it any advice would be most appreciated . Thank you Dan
  2. Hiya, Got a question, I've bought a new router yesterday and when I came home in flashed the latest version of dd-wrt everything works just great and it's an awesome router, but when using openvpn the speeds are very slow. I'm getting 13mbit (up and down) over different ports (UDP and TCP) i'm using a server (different ones) in the netherlands and i'm also located in the netherlands. I've played with the Ciphers but nothing changes when using the client (on a windows machine im getting 70mbit on the same server). Is there anyway to boost the speed or is it just that the router can't handle it? Thanks in advance! edit: Did some checking but got a feeling it's the CPU of the router that's being the bottleneck. It's at 100% when using openvpn (and downloading something). To bad I thought a router like this would be up to the task but I was wrong
  3. I have connected using the AirVPN client, SSL with stunnel, and SSH. For SSH and SSL both i used airvpn's configuration generator. But I am still consistently getting only 2-3Mb/s(sometimes less, sometimes around 5Mb/s MAX.) Any and all suggestions that might help with this would be much appreciated. Thank You.
  4. HI Support. I am a UK resident but visiting New Zealand for a few weeks. I have a MacBook Air with Tunnelblick installed and a configuration for various servers including some in the UK. I am staying at a home where the broadband speed is 8Mb/sec but when I connect the VPN (if it connects at all), the speed is reduced to about 300Kb/sec and is not constant. This is useless for streaming TV. I am so disappointed because I really thought the VPN would enable me to keep in touch. I have tried both UDP and TCP configurations (UDP usually fails completely, TCP often connects but is so slow). I've tried different ports too. I've also tried it with Netherlands and USA servers which are also very slow. Please could you advise what might be the cause of this speed reduction? Thank you. PS - the speed test on your website does not work at all for me - I used OOKLA to test the speed.
  5. Hi, I'm having trouble with download speeds through utorrent. without vpn (using the same file as a test) i get approx. 500kB/s with vpn active im getting approx.03 - 3.0kB/s, I've tried all available UK servers, some of which i get no download at all. I'd really appreciate any advise. Thank you.
  6. Hi, I am using Mac OSX 10.6.8 and OpenVPN for connection. I have selected nearby servers in closest distance. I also have my torrent port forwarded to 41380. I use uTorrent 1.8.1 on the Mac with TCP connection beause uTorrent only seems to actively seed while having TCP connection. With the UDP connection it was simply not actively seeding back downloads because port forwarding only worked with TCP in the Mac version of uTorrent. Without having an active VPN connection, I get around 20-22 Mbs download from my service provider and about 6 Mbs upload speed. When I am testing the AirVPN server speedtest on my client page while actively connected it indicates only 2 to 2.4 Mbs download speed and about the same upload speed. My torrent connections are also only downloading with no more than 300-500 Kbs all together. This seems to be a great drop in performance. While I undersatnd that the VPN connection with the additional encryption and server access will slow down things, I still find it almost unacceptable that it drops to more than 10% of my original connection speed. When I have started using AirVPN about 6 months ago as a first time user, I was able to get 1.5-2 Mbs download speed (not great but workable), lately in the past few months it has been changed to this dismal slow speed. What is the cause and how can it be improved? Thanks
  7. Hi, I use the standard DNS 10.4.0.1. but it gives me troubles when in web development. The problem is that I run a certain amount of websites which I maintain. When I change DNS settings on those websites, within a few minutes I can use those settings when running on my ISP's DNS servers. When i change to the AirVPN DNS, it sometimes takes more than a day to see those changes. Is there a possibility to speed up that process? How often do you retrieve new DNS information? To be honest, it is not always like that, sometimes you do the change within the hour, but it is always slower than my ISP's one. Regards, 0fficer
