  1. Hi I'm new to VPN. I've bin trying it out little over four month now, but speed is slow. I've read around and the TAP driver can't in my case be the problem. Is there any know problems regarding OS X ? Or are there some settings works best on Mac (Macbook Pro) ? The speed drop is most clearly when torrenting, but i feel it when browsing to. Youtube and other videos take forever to load and play and often stops and wait to load more data. When using uTorrent i can without VPN get almost max 3mb on 30mbit, but when using VPN it drops to maybe 100kb or lower. At good times i can get it to almost 1mb. And again, dropping VPN, speed just goes to the top. I use servers close to my country (Denmark). A funny thing is, when using Swedish servers they are a lot slower than using German or NL. I have a Macbook Pro mid2012 and i'm on wifi. Any idea to what might be the problem here ? All the best Carsten
  2. Hi, Earlier today my airvpn was working fine and was happily connected to a server. However the program froze on my mac and had to force quit it. After force quitting and several fresh installs of the latest software and downgrading to 2.9 I still cannot connect to any of the servers. After a quick check of the log I believe the problem is a routing problem. Please advise. 3. I have a lot of problems with dropped connections after coming back from hibernation on my MacBook. Eddie tries to reconnect before I get a new wifi connection. Somehow, it seems like that this process slows down the process of finding and logging into a wifi. Maybe that is just a feeling, but as soon as I press the cancel button in Eddie, my MacBook will connect to a wifi. A feature that would prevent Eddie from reconnecting after a dropped connection would solve that. A similar problem is also described in this thread: https://airvpn.org/topic/16143-restart-problem/?p=34601 Anyway, a feature like that would be advantages in other circumstances: Imagine I close (hibernate) my MacBook at home. I go to another wifi and open my MacBook. It will connect to the wifi and Eddie would try to connect immediately. I may not want that the owner of that wifi knows that I use AirVPN. Just applying NetLock after a dropped connection would prevent that... What do you think? Is that a possible solution? Could it be implemented?
  4. I am working with AirVPN and MacOS X El Capitan and still have problems during sleepmode! Normaly it itsn't a problem to connect to the MacServer during sleepmode! Until I am using AirVPN I tried different things like Third-party Software to be sure that the Mac never sleep and the VPN connection would be stable! But everytime when the screensaver starts after 10 minutes the connection will be disabled and block every attempt to access normaly until I quit AirVPN or start again a new connection. Did anybody know this issue and have a workaround? Many thanks!
  5. I would like to create a wireless hotspot using OSX Mavericks in order to share my VPN. I would be connecting a windows machine and iOS devices. I have chosen this route as I would like to be able to easily turn my wireless signal off when not needed and turn it on just as easily; something that my Airport Extreme is not capable of doing. From what I have gathered I cannot create a hotspot in the usual way when using OpenVPN as it results in a dead connection. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this using the OSX Eddie client software?
  6. I'm using AirVPN v2.10 for Mac. As I'm trying to connect to some server, e.g: Antares (Sg), my connection failed. Looking at the logs, I can see that IP for Antares is 103.xx. I try using config generator to get the IP for Antares and it seem that the current IP used is <different> and I can connect to Antares if using Tunnelblick. There is also similar issue on a few IPs. Why AirVPN client not using the latest IP listing for connection?
  7. Just became a member today but I can't seem to connect to any server. The connection keeps on getting terminated. It's just running a loop really. I've reset my hosts file via this link: http://osxdaily.com/2014/04/12/restore-original-hosts-file-mac/ But still no luck... 8. Despite trying multiple ports (UDP 443, UDP 80, UDP 53), my in-tunnel speeds are significantly lower than out-tunnel speeds. Per attached Speed Test results, Download speeds are ~19 Mb/sec out of tunnel and only ~12 Mb/sec in the tunnel. I'm using the Eddie client on Mac OS Yosemite, machine is a MacBook Pro 2015. Both Router and client are 802.11N. -I don't think Comcast is throttling my network and even if they are, the throttling should affect both in and out of tunnel speeds. -I've tried the SSH and SSL ports and the In-Tunnel speeds on those are closer to 8 Mb/s...lower than my UDP ports. -Also tried TCP ports and as expected, speeds are lower than UDP ports. Any suggestions or explanations for the large gap between my in and out tunnel speeds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Down: 19.032 Mbit/s Out, 11.900 Mbit/s In (62%), 20MB - Up: 5.469 Mbit/s Out, 5.213 Mbit/s In (95%), 20MB - Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2015 03:46:43 GMT - Buffers: 20MB/20MB - Laps: 10, Time: 423.95 secs Down: 20.546 Mbit/s Out, 12.207 Mbit/s In (59%), 20MB - Up: 0.347 Mbit/s Out, 3.792 Mbit/s In (1091%), 1MB - Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2015 04:03:37 GMT - Buffers: 20MB/1MB - Laps: 10, Time: 398.30 secs
  9. I have a couple of questions regarding AirVPN and OS X: 1) What are the pros and cons of using the Eddie client vs. Tunnelblick? 2) Is Eddie compatible with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)? Thanks.
  10. Hello! I've been using the program Visocsity for Mac for quite awhile and I was just curious what settings/scripts you use to keep your conection to AirVPN secure. I just wanted to see if there is anything new I could take advantage of. There was a forum post made by another Air user about this topic 3 years ago. I thought this would be a good update and be useful to others who use Viscosity. Thanks! S.O.A.
  11. Hello, Below are two scripts, one for Viscosity for Mac, and the other for Windows that you can implement into Viscosity to close any program you specify upon VPN disconnection. They are very easy to implement. It should take you no longer than 30 seconds. The 5 step instruction process is included in the link. I hope this helps you out! Link for Mac: https://torguard.net/blog/how-to-setup-a-vpn-kill-switch-on-mac-with-torguard/ Link for Windows: https://torguard.net/blog/how-to-setup-vpn-kill-switch-in-windows-with-torguard/ SIDE NOTE-For Windows that don't use Viscosity there is another VPN killswitch that is free and works with every VPN. It is called VPNCheck.
  12. Hi, I would like to access AirVPN through the command line on my Mac (OSX). Is this possible? Is there a command line interface (CLI)? Do I need to install OpenVPN first? Thank you.
  13. Hi, I'm using Tunnelblick with OSX 10.4.11 on an old Mac G4 to connect via Vuse. Everything has worked fine for many months but now a problem has cropped up. I can connect to any server and the connection is OK for about 6-8 hours, then Tunnelblick consistently displays "Authorizing" instead of "Connected" status, even though an IP check appears to show that it's still connected. How can I fix this? ...Thanks.
  14. Hi, I'm using the Airvpn Mac client, and all works well, except that when I disconnect the client, I find that my network connection hangs (Chrome shows "resolving...", maybe a DNS thing?) until I bounce the network interface. Any ideas why that might be? Anyone else having a similar issue? For now, bouncing it isn't terribly painful (I set it inactive, apply, then active, apply in Network prefs), but I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Thanks.
  15. Hi, I'm on Mac OS X Mavericks and with neither Tunnelblick, nor the AirVPN client a connection to the Spanish server Nihal is possible. The AirVPN client automatically "recommends" (=connects) me a different server (usually Dutch) after not managing to connect to Nihal, while Tunnelblick doesn't connect to Nihal either. All other servers I tried seem to be working just fine. The availability of Spanish servers was a condition for choosing AirVPN and I was not amused when the servers got deleted some weeks ago. When the Spanish location reappeared I was very happy, as I rely on Spanish servers for TV reasons. Does this happen to everyone here trying to connect to that server or is it only me having that problem? In any case, I would highly appreciate any help. Regards
  16. Hi All I'm in need of some clarification in regards to my proxy setup. What's the difference between setting up proxy on the osx network interface(and connecting via airvpn udp/tcp 443) vs. using airvpn config with proxy?. My current setup is I use a proxy on osx network interface(http port 8080) and connecting via airvpn server(udp 443). I have managed to meet my objectives which are to unblock certain websites and faster http file sharing downloads via download manager(e.g uploaded). Is my setup correct, anonymous and secure?. What's the difference when using the config-with-proxy (airvpn) because when I check my ip, it's the airvpn exit node and not of the proxy. I have a download manager that only mainly relies on osx main proxy interface( the app needs password authentification for proxy unlike a browser's setup), so, so far my current setup allows me to meet my objectives. Hope to get more clarification on this. Thanks a mill'!
  17. Hi AirVPN community! I am completely new to the world of VPN's and I find it quite difficult to understand some topics. I invested a lot of time in reading through the threads already and I read about a 70 year-old, among others, having the same difficulties as I do in some areas. I believe that the constellation of my "needs" is quite unique, which is why I started a new topic. I hope that this is not a problem for the moderators. Maybe it would be best to list my issues and what I understood from the comments in the forum. When I decided to buy VPN access, it came down to wanting: to be able to browse the internet for (political and other) news, do research, etc. anonymously, especially since the revelations about the NSA, etc. spying on everybody.to be able to use streaming services, VoD, etc. from various countriessecurity when doing monetary transactions (ebay, paypal, amazon, online-banking)anonymity coupled with speed for torrenting Now, from various threads in the forums I got to the following conclusions: For anonymity, don't mix identities - so while I am torrenting, I should not be on any social network.VPN's protect me when doing monetary transactionsI should configure my connections in a way to protect myself while torrenting in case of loss of connections, so my real identity does not get revealed, even if it is only for a couple of seconds. My questions and problems are the following: I am using a Mac running Mavericks and currently I use Tunnelblick. Should I stick with it or should I try the AirVPN Beta software for Mac? What are the benefits/disadvantages compared to Tunnelblick?Which countries/servers are the best for:Banking, Amazon, eBay, etc.?Torrenting?Surfing the web and doing research without needing to be paranoid? Before I can download the OpenVPN configurations for Mac I first need to choose various things in the Config Generator, such as continent OR country OR single server, etc. Later, it gives me more detailed options which I don't understand (connection modes, UCP, TCP, SSH, SSL, which ports to use, proxy, separate keys/certs, resolved hosts, bundle executables, etc.). I do understand some of the uses, but I get confused when needing to choose for my respective purposes. For the above-listed needs, what should I consider?Although I read quite a lot about the topic, I do not understand how to protect my connection when the connection to the VPN is lost temporarily while torrenting. I hope I explained my situation well enough and I am sorry if my questions seem stupid to persons more knowledgeable than me. I would be very happy to receive some suggestions, and, ideally, solutions to my problems. Thank you very much
  18. Hi, I'm using AirVPN successfully on my Mac (10.8.2) with Tunnelblick. However I want to get VPN over SSH working too. 19. Hi, I am using Mac OSX 10.6.8 and OpenVPN for connection. I have selected nearby servers in closest distance. I also have my torrent port forwarded to 41380. I use uTorrent 1.8.1 on the Mac with TCP connection beause uTorrent only seems to actively seed while having TCP connection. With the UDP connection it was simply not actively seeding back downloads because port forwarding only worked with TCP in the Mac version of uTorrent. Without having an active VPN connection, I get around 20-22 Mbs download from my service provider and about 6 Mbs upload speed. When I am testing the AirVPN server speedtest on my client page while actively connected it indicates only 2 to 2.4 Mbs download speed and about the same upload speed. My torrent connections are also only downloading with no more than 300-500 Kbs all together. This seems to be a great drop in performance. While I undersatnd that the VPN connection with the additional encryption and server access will slow down things, I still find it almost unacceptable that it drops to more than 10% of my original connection speed. When I have started using AirVPN about 6 months ago as a first time user, I was able to get 1.5-2 Mbs download speed (not great but workable), lately in the past few months it has been changed to this dismal slow speed. What is the cause and how can it be improved? Thanks
