  1. I hope this is the right place to chat about this. Been notified about this article today: https://vpnpro.com/blog/vpn-market-share-overview/. I'm an AirVPN user and was kind of surprised there's no mention of AirVPN in this article at all. In my personal experience AirVPN hits all the buttons and I really enjoy the service and support i get from them, so it's just a little disappointing it's not on the list. Are there any global lists of VPN market share where we could see where AirVPN stands?
  2. Hi, I keep getting VPN Errors on Android which I guess can happen (although not as often as I am getting them). This happens once every one or two hours. What makes it difficult is that the connection gets locked and no apps can connect to anything. When this happens all I get is a normal notification and it often takes a while until I see it. In the meantime I am not getting mail and messages. Screenshot below. What could these VPN errors be and it is anything I can do to prevent and limit them? I'm on Android 8.1 with Eddie 2.0.1
  3. I bought an Ubuntu phone mainly because of privacy concerns I have with IOS & Android. I was disappointed to see that they don't have the built in support for Network Manager like the Ubuntu desktop does, is it possible to run Airvpn on the Ubuntu EQ5 phone?
  4. Hello, I was messing around with a local web page hosted on my raspberry pi for local projects, and using that web page works fine from my pc which has an ethernet cable to my router. However when I try to access the page with my android phone, I cannot connect to the web page. I can also not reach my router admin page from my android device, something that DOES work on my pc... All three devices: pc, android phone, raspberry pi are running on AirVPN. The moment I disconnect from the VPN, I can access the admin panel and the website from my phone. Is there a way to make devices connected via wifi while using the VPN able to access my router / other local machines? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello, this is my first time posting here. Whenever I try to connect to Eddie, the software seems to be stuck in a loop, with an error message appearing in my Windows Explorer saying "netsh command failed". This happens continually with no connection in the client software happening. 6. Hey, I got this since a while now. Sometimes I try to resolve airvpn.org it fails. After some trys or minutes it works fine. I use a Pi-Hole as DNS Server running a local unbound (127.0.0.1) and as said I only got issues with this domain here.. real strange. Luckily today I was able to grab some logs, maybe someone can read them and tell me if the dnssec-query request tell something useful ? 7. Hello! I thought it was time to try and collect some of the wisdom floating around and see if we can't create a single thread for solving some of the most common and annoying repeat-issues. So how about it ! I define "common problems" as: if I'm getting a deja-vu every third time I post . Staff will have broken the Matrix by this point. Each problem will have its own headline and then with any number of solution-oriented links appended underneath. For this reason, this grand list isn't final and is meant to be updated continually. Naturally, the higher the link number for a solution, the more obscure the solutions are probably getting. Warning: solutions aren't guaranteed. 8. Hello,As we know no VPNs even the safest VPNs like AirVPN or ProtonVPN? are really safe, in fact there is always the problem that none of us users really know if they keeps logs.My solution would be to host running a VPN on a rented VPS server in order to personally manage it.To do so I do not want to limit at something pre-compiled, such as "digital ocean", infact my plan is to run it in Softether host inside a VPS.The scheme should be so: Within a Windows Server VPS placed in some data center run VMware emulating another operating system, within this guest run Softether host app. Then connect via VPN tunnel from Softether host app to my real domestic PC. I just wonder if the VPS server owner or the VPS internet operator itself could actually trace the source back to my real PC even though ill establish a VPN tunnelling from softether to my actual pc. PS: The idea of running everything inside a VM instead of into just the VPS itself is to make the Softether logs inaccessible to a potential attacker protecting them in a shell, plus mask the imei and the operation system.I look forward to understand if they (NSA or potential attackers) would have some way to track back the encrypted VPN connection from Softether to my current PC
  9. I run Windows 7. From one day to the other AirVPN seems to be stuck in a loop trying to connect to a server, disconnecting and trying another server address. I rolled my Window 7 back to another starting point and than it worked. Because the rollback did not fully work, issues in Windows Outlook 2013, I rolled it back to a more recent point, 22-11-2018. Than everything was fine again but connecting AirVPN was stuck again in the same loop. I discovered that there was a recent Windows update with some safety crap from Office 2013 and 2 Windows defender safety updates. I d-installed the office 2013 updates but the Defender updates didn't show so I could not get rid of it. Windows defender is off in settings. I downloaded the newest version AirVPN 2.17.2 (thanks Giganerd) but still. I don't know what the issue is but I suspect that Windows closed a "loophole" for AirVPN to connect, I'm not a computer wiz so please not to complicated answers please. Buy the way I eddied this post because at first I just had a AirVPN log file. You can see this as a attachment down the page.
  10. OK here it is: I updated my imac to the latest mojave and airvpn started acting up. Specifically when i went to shut it down prior to turning the computer off it would lock everything up. The only way I could shut off the mac was to hold down the start button until it shut down. Subsequent start up seemed normal but a repeat of the above issues trying to shut it down. So I decided to delete airvpn and reinstall in via the airvpn site. The moment I removed it the internet connection was lost and I am at my wits end trying to get it back. Any ideas from our mac experts? The only other anomilty was my avira virus said to follow a procedure to make sure it was up to date which i did but it periodically kept repeating itself on the update. I am typing this on a windows computer so the wifi is good and it even shows a strong signal on the mac. The mac just says "failed to open page". Again any expert suggestions welcome but be advised I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed lol. Thanks.
  11. Hello dear fellow consumers of AirVPN, I recently bought an AirVPN pass to be a little more safe. I want to use Plex media server also. After trying to get Plex working with AIrVPN yesterday's night for almost 5 hours I couldn't make it. Today it's working (or is it??). My setup: - On Plex --> Settings --> Server "Manually forward Port to: 32400" - Router (fritzbox 7360): "My PC --> Port forwarding to 32400 (active)" . On AirVPN: Port forwarding to 32400 So. 1. The thing is: I don't really think I am really connected to the VPN, because I'm downloading atm, but download traffic on AirVPN main window is 0. 2. Also the port forwarding in the AirVPN section has the yellow light (Ip reachable on real network). 3. Furthermore the Ethernet 3 Adaptor on my windows machine says "No Ipv4 connectivity" but is connected. 4. Remote access on plex is ACTIVE and WORKING! SO MY FINAL QUESTION REGARDING ALL THIS IS: Did I finally get it working or am I just simply not connected to the VPN and it's working because of this? I've no idea after all I've done. Could anybody please enlighten my metaphorical darkness? Very kind regards Follow_and18
  12. Hello Airvpn team. I have been getting very slow speed while using AirVPN. I’m only getting 30MBps downa nd about 11MBps up. instead of about 300MBps down and 12MBps up. This happens across all server. Some are slower then others. My ISP is Comcast. Is this an issue on my end or is Comcast throdeling my internet because I’m going through a VPN almost all the time? Any ideas VPN members?
  13. I'm using Thunderbird on an Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop, when I try and send an email from my outlook.com email account I get this message, Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com timed out. Try again. It only seems to happen when I'm connected to the VPN, I'm able to send emails by logging in to the outlook.com web portal regardless of whether I'm connected to the VPN or not. I found the IP address for the SMTP server by running an nslookup with the server name & I got this output, Non-authoritative answer: smtp-mail.outlook.com canonical name = smtp.live.com. smtp.live.com canonical name = smtp.glbdns2.microsoft.com. Name: smtp.glbdns2.microsoft.com Address: 65.55.176.126 So I went in to account settings & changed the server name from the host name to the IP address but I'm still having the same issue. Any ideas as to what is wrong?
  14. Hello, I've tried AirVPN now on my desktop and am very pleased with the experience so i wanted to pursue my main goal with AirVPN: My ISP uses CGNAT so i have no public IPV4 adress. My plan was to setup a Ubuntu Server VM that acts as a gateway to AirVPN for my plex server (which currently isn't available outside of my network thanks to CGNAT). I've read elsewhere that i needed to tunnel the IPV4 application (plex) to IPV6 using the program 6tunnel. My first step was to install openvpn and launch the TCP.ovpn file, SSH is telling me: "Initialization Sequence Completed", now I'm stuck at connecting to the gateway (and maybe configuring it as one?) and tunneling the IPV4 traffic of the VPN and Plex to IPV6. I've also just discovered the advanced mode of the config file generator and am a bit overwhelmed. Should I use "IPV4&IPV6 (connect with IPV6) and which ports? I think my current config files where normal IPV4 so that's probably why it only worked on my desktop with eddie. Your help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
  15. Hello, my download speed while connect to Air has slowed down again. I have a 50 Mbps. A couple months ago I had huge issues with air and it worked only through SSL, but not that fast. I couldn't locate the issue so I've just wiped out my OS and install Win 10 pro 64bit weeks ago. Since today air worked fine and fast but only with TCP. Since yesterday Air connections are very slow, between 5 - 12 Mbps. I tried everything that I've found in this forum about speed issues, changing ports, from tcp to udp with different ports, also the network adapter issue with 25/15 ect.. but it won't work, the maximum speed I get is 13 Mbps, only on some Netherland servers. All other servers, even those in my country, are way below 10 Mbps. That is very dissapointing and frustrating, specially as I've renew my sub again through the black friday offer. Any ideas?
  16. Today I bought a trial of PIA just to test it out and see how it compared to AirVPN. Well, I installed the PIA client on my Windows computer and wasn't satisfied with PIA, so I uninstalled PIA, uninstalled the TAP driver, then uninstalled Eddie as well to make sure nothing went wrong. Well, it did go wrong somehow. I reinstalled Eddie, logged in, it automatically installed the TAP driver again, and then it wouldn't connect to any servers at all, so I uninstalled and reinstalled again, restarted my PC, and now when I connect to a server with Network Lock on, it looks like there is a DNS error of some sort. Previously, when I went to ipleak.net, the DNS testing was near instant and it said "1 server". Now, it takes a very long time for it to test the DNS and it says "0 servers, 100 errors". Also, loading websites works at first, but 3 or 4 minutes after connecting to VPN, domain names will just not resolve. I type in google.com or airvpn.org and it just stays loading forever. Please help, I have no idea what is wrong either because the Eddie log is perfectly normal as if there were no issues. I have restarted the PC a few more times and uninstalled and re installed Eddie a few times but still no dice
  17. Hi, when, if ever will there be more Japan servers? (Question to staff) At least another one would be nice. It's the ONLY server which gives a good latency when connecting from China. For example, the Japan based Iskandar server can achieve 79ms whereas all the others start at 190ms + when connecting from China. Can other China users verify this is the case for them, too? (All China users reading this please comment about your latency!....)
  18. Hi. When connected to an AirVPN-server through a VPN-router... Are there any fixed IPs on the VPN-server that can be used to ping for monitoring the quality of the VPN connection (RRD graphs etc)? I used to be able to use 10.x.0.1 but they do not seem to respond to pings anymore. What is the correct IP to use for this purpose? Kind regards,
  19. Source: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/voracle-attack-can-recover-http-data-from-vpn-connections/ Hello everyone, I've recently read that article above about this new attack called VORACLE that can possibly allow an attacker to recover data from HTTP traffic sent through a VPN. I've searched these forums for anything mentioning voracle but no results so I'm starting this topic out of interest and concern, and some questions for AirVPN staff. Is AirVPN completely protected from this new attack? Or is this something that AirVPN needs to *address and what can/will be done, if not why? What can AirVPN users do against this if anything or what are the exact steps to configure inside Eddie if anything? (*With the above quote in-mind does AirVPN need to do the same for its service?) Appreciate any replies and interest in the matter. Thanks.
  20. Hi I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8+ running Android 8.0 and having issues with the VPN disconnecting after a few minutes (<1 hour) of not using the device. This happens with both OpenVPN for Android & the Eddie - OpenVPN GUI. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling OpenVPN for Android as well as deleted the config files and redownloaded them, but still doing so. Power Saving mode is off & I've also tried switching to other modes (Game/Entertainment/High performance). Does anyone know why/how to fix this? Apologies if this has already been discussed in another post/thread, I had a look but couldn't find anything, happy to use such a thread if you can point me to it. Thank you.
  21. Hello. I read that connecting to AirVPN using port UDP 53 instead of UDP 443 is a way to get better speeds, but when I tried to do it today it could not connect to that port on any server and kept giving me an error. This happened on both my phone (connected with Wi-Fi) and PC (connected with ethernet cable) . I contacted my ISP and asked them if they were blocking any ports, and they said they were only blocking ports 80 and 25. I had the ISP unblock these ports just in case that was somehow the issue, but it was not and VPN on UDP 53 continued to not work. I even tried forwarding UDP port 53 to my devices from my router, but that didn't do anything. However, when I turn off Wi-Fi on my phone and connect to my mobile network, UDP 53 works flawlessly. 22. Hi, I just started using MS One Note and I have run into the problem where it does not work when the VPN is on. I have reads the thread here https://airvpn.org/topic/10700-ms-onenote-does-not-sync-vith-airvpn/?hl=onenote but it did not provide me with any advice as to what to do in Eddie to allow One Note to work. Can anyone guide me on the settings I need to change to get One Note and the VPN working at the same time. I'm using Windows 7 & 8 and also the OpenVPN on Android. Thanks In advance. Andrew
  23. I recently stumbled upon the AirVPN API. I'd like to use it but the data provided by the api seems to be lacking information about the second generation servers, i.e. additional entry IPs and ipv6 IPs (and whether those features are available). Am I missing something or - if my assumption is correct - are there any plans to update the API to include the missing data?
  24. I have been using Express VPN for a time now but hows Air VPN compare to Express? What are the advantages?
