  2. My client (v. 2.3) goes through unending connect/disconnect cycles when trying to connect to Persei. It has been unusable for about 10 days. I have been able to connect to and use Heze as well as several other servers in Chicago and Manassas. But since I live in California and I have 2 machines using the same account, need to use both of the servers in Freemont.
  3. I searched the forums and did not find a post regarding gaming over VPN. If there already is a post on the subject, forgive me and provide a link, please. I am experiencing some latency (lag) when playing “Call of Duty: Ghosts” multiplayer online game. I am connecting to airvpn's (Kuma) server via a DD-WRT router and the connection is very stable. I have an xbox 360 connected via Ethernet cable to the router with UPNP turned on (NAT open). On average my connection stats via VPN are: ping: 54, DL: 3.83 Mbps, UL: 0.60 Mbps. On average my connection stats without VPN are: ping: 14, DL: 6 Mbps, UL: 1.3 Mbps Am I just being paranoid for wanting to hide my real IP address when playing online games on a console, or is there a real concern with vengeful players finding out my IP address? I don’t know how another player would be able to get that info, but I have heard stories of players initiating denial of service (DOS) attacks and such on other players. Are there any tricks or tips that you might be able to share that would improve my overall gaming experience over VPN? Hourly, the VPN connection re-authorizes, or whatever it is called. I have the router set to only all connections through the VPN, to prevent IP leakage. Would this cause lag spikes and/or loss of connection to the game host server? What would be the best airvpn server for me to use for Call of Duty or other first person shooter games? I live in southeast Alabama and I don’t have any idea where the game host servers are located for Call of Duty. I have tried a couple different servers and the Kuma server seems to provide a fast and stable connection. However, I still experience lag most of the time. Thanks!
  4. Hello everyone, My problem is the following: I use a Synology NAS to connect through airvpn to the internet. It took some tweaking but I managed to make it work thanks to a tutorial on this forum. My problem is that the VPN disconnects very frequently. To give you guys an idea I enabled the connections archive: Connection date Disconnection date Duration Download Upload Server Protocol Flow 1m 2s ago 50s ago 12s 7 kB 9 kB Virginis udp Normal 2m 13s ago 1m 1s ago 1m 12s 8 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 2m 23s ago 2m 11s ago 12s 8 kB 7 kB Virginis udp Normal 3m 34s ago 2m 21s ago 1m 13s 9 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 3m 43s ago 3m 33s ago 10s 8 kB 9 kB Virginis udp Normal 4m 52s ago 3m 42s ago 1m 10s 10 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 5m 2s ago 4m 51s ago 11s 7 kB 7 kB Virginis udp Normal 6m 14s ago 5m 1s ago 1m 13s 17 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal 6m 24s ago 6m 13s ago 11s 24 kB 33 kB Virginis udp Normal 7m 30s ago 6m 23s ago 1m 7s 7 kB 5 kB Virginis udp Normal From time to the connection is stable, but as far as I can see it is never been stable for more than 12 minutes. I use the VPN for torrents. Might it be possible that there are too many active connections? I toned the max number of connections down to 2 active downloads times 45 peer connections. This doesn't seem high to me, but wanted to put it out there. Does anyone have a clue? Downloading and uploading does work. I use UDP port 53.
  5. For some reason now and then it's a real hassle to disconnect. The client area claims that I'm connected to Switzerland at the moment, but none of my devices are (at least in any way that is useful from my perspective). I have tried to disconnect it from the client area page a number of times and it isn't happening. It has been like this for about half an hour, though it claims that it's only been connected for 4 minutes. This is annoying as it prevents me from connecting. I have experienced this before and I've no idea what causes it. In vague terms, I'm guessing the disconnection somehow fails. I believe this problem would be less irritating if it was possible to connect 2 devices at once without setting up the VPN through the router.
  6. Hi all, So recently I've started having issues running qBittorrent and remaining connected to AiVPN. If I connect to AirVPN (through the OpenVPN GUI) and just browse then there is no problem, speeds are good and the connection remains constant. If however I launch qBittorrent and download anything, within 3-4 minutes AirVPN drops. I can think of no explanation as to why this is happening - hence this post. I'm running Windows 8, tunneling through a Uni firewall on TCP 443, I've tried routing qBittorrent over a port explicitly opened in the Forward Ports section of AirVPN and through a randomly generated one, in both cases the results are the same. The only other thing to note is that I have modified the connection script slightly to change my DNS server to 10.5.0.1 (AirVPN's DNS) to prevent DNS leaks however like I say when I'm not running qBittorrent the connection doesn't drop, so I don't think this is the problem. It has only appeared in the last 2 weeks or so, prior to that there were no problems at all and I would quite like to get this fixed. Cheers, H. 7. Hi My AirVPN is facing some issue recently. It was fine previously and this is the first time I encounter this annoying problem. Every 1 to 4mins, my AirVPN will disconnect, and then reconnect back by itself. I cant even surf net in peace. Additional info: I am using a school campus network which I only can connect through TCP 53. All the other mode won't work for me. The log is as follow: 12/11/2013 - 11:19 AM write TCPv4_CLIENT: Connection reset by peer (WSAECONNRESET) (code=10054) 12/11/2013 - 11:19 AM read TCPv4_CLIENT: Connection timed out (WSAETIMEDOUT) (code=10060) 12/11/2013 - 8. During the few months I've been using various AirVPN USA servers to connect my Mac notebook via Tunnelblick software from various Starbucks stores' WiFi, I've noticed a definite correlation between available bandwidth and the frequency of random disconnects from the VPN. This is based on observations of how many devices are being used in the store, SpeedTest.net results, both on and off the VPN, and observing the log files. It would help me greatly to know just how much bandwidth I need in order to connect through the VPN and avoid these random disconnects. Just in case there is something going on that I don't understand (maybe a timeout of the VPN server I'm using? I do make sure I use the lowest latency, highest bandwidth server by checking the Status section of the website before getting down to serious work), I'm attaching the log of the latest disconnect I experienced. disconnect from Starbucks by Tunnelblick or AirVPN after 15 min 2013-8-19.txt
  9. I'm having a problem losing my VPN connection randomly from my local Starbucks. (Not the internet connection, just the VPN connection.) This happens quite a lot, roughly between 1 and 4 times per day during a 3- to 8-hour period (yes, I practically live at Starbucks these days). I already spoke with AT&T technical support and learned what the possible problems could be. They said they allow VPN connections, it doesn't matter what port it is (I'm using port 443), and the only timeout they have is a reset at midnight every night. That leaves the following possibilities: 1. It could be related to either bandwidth (not enough BW for the VPN connection, but I don't get kicked off the router); 2. My VPN service has a timeout or other technical issue; or 3. Someone doing something malicious on the network. Here are the details of my experience today: Connected at 10:29am. Reconnected after losing VPN connection at 11:30am. Tested download speed at 12:11pm = 546 kbps. Disconnected from VPN again at 12:31pm. Download speed after automatic reconnection by Shimo = 92 kbps. Girls found outside Starbucks in Shopping Mall hallway watching video on iPad mini. Download test at 12:34pm was 1.3Mbps. According to forums, there is a 4-hr timer that will be fixed in the next release of their software (which I don't use, I use Shimo for Mac with a manual configuration). Yet I have never experienced any problems when using the VPN in the exact same manner from my friends' homes or at my own home. But this hasn't been the problem today (May 30th) because my Starbucks connection began at 10:29am, so the disconnect would happen at 2:30pm, unless they're wrong about the 4 hrs. 1st disconnect was 2 hrs, 12 min. after 1st connection of the day. 2nd disconnect was 22 min. after last re-connection. Any clues or information on what possibilities exist that would disconnect the VPN would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi, I'm currently on the 3 day trial to determine if AirVPN will suit my needs. I'm having some problems with it disconnecting on me though. It will stay connected for 15-20 seconds and then silently fail. Then after a minute or two it will reconnect again. This cycle will then just continue on. Here is the log from 3 cycles of this occuring. I'm using the newest version of Kubuntu (13.04). If you need any other information please let me know. $ sudo openvpn AirVPN_US-Andromedae_UDP-443.ovpn [sudo] password for REMOVED: Wed May 29 02:47:09 2013 OpenVPN 2.2.1 x86_64-linux-gnu [sSL] [LZO2]
