  1. Today Putin has signed the law to ban VPN and Proxy services in Russia. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fstrana.life%2Fnews%2Fputin_zapretil_anonimajzery_i_servisy_vpn%2F2017-07-30-9205 One more country with a "Great Firewall"? Will you use your VPN service anyway when visiting Russia?
  2. Hi, I just started using MS One Note and I have run into the problem where it does not work when the VPN is on. I have reads the thread here https://airvpn.org/topic/10700-ms-onenote-does-not-sync-vith-airvpn/?hl=onenote but it did not provide me with any advice as to what to do in Eddie to allow One Note to work. Can anyone guide me on the settings I need to change to get One Note and the VPN working at the same time. I'm using Windows 7 & 8 and also the OpenVPN on Android. Thanks In advance. Andrew
  3. When using Torrents my Speed is only about ~ 0.5 - 1.2 mb/s over udp 443! But if i try to download a steam game or something else it maxed out my fully 160 mbps internet that´s about 19 mb/s! Specs : i7 6700K - Windows 10 - OpenVPN - Unitymedia Cable Internet 150/10
  4. What do you think about them? I need to choose 2 from them.
  5. I too needed a long time before I knew how to get a printer and scanner working while online when using a VPN with either OpenVPN or Eddie the Client of AirVPN. Well the answer is much simpler than you think. You need to give your printer an IP4 address that does not change. Like 192.168.1.123 as long as you always make sure it looks like your Router IP4 Gateway adress. My printer has IP address 192.168.1.123 and if you don't understand how to do that either from within your router DHCP or from the printer itself I cannot help you unfortunately. My printer is simply at this IP4 address via a Wireless Wifi connection at the same router which has address 192.168.1.1 as most Routers do. But yours might look different. The problem with Windows 10 automatic discovery of printers and scanners it searches all network adapters and it might detect your printers and scanners even like it does here, but when on VPN I couldn't print or scan. Actually the scanner didn't even work before I knew the tricks how to install the same printer manually from an IP4 address by hand. In Windows 10 right click the start button if your right handed with your right mouse button and enter command below: control printers I would have liked to show a screenshot here but my language isn't English, so I describe that after you execute that command a Window pops up showing you devices like printers and scanners even when they might not work. Now look carefully inside that window, what does it say? ADD PRINTERbut then in your language. Well press that button. Another window pops up trying to discover devices on your network, but you should look for and press the text PRINTER I WANT IS NOT ON THIS LIST Now the magic starts to happen. It has many options to add a Printer, but you know you want a local network printer search for ADD PRINTER WITH TCP/IP ADDRESSBut then again it is in your own language but look for TCP/IP and press that option. Then press NEXT button. Another window pops up, leave automatic detection enabled. And guess what, it asks for the IP4 address for your printer, don't worry about port name that will be automatically filled. Type in your Printer IP4 address inside the IP text Area 192.168.1.123was my Printer IP4 address on my local network. Then it might ask for a driver, if you have none choose a printer that is a version higher but of same type. If you have a Deskjet choose a similar Deskjet, if you have a Laser choose a similar Laser. In my case I simply had the original driver which actually isn't necessary at all. If your printer is 4000 series and you see a driver called 4070 series try that, as long as it is the same brand of printer and same type of printer (Deskjet=Deskjet and Laser=Laser etcetera) Usually you don't need a driver at this point. Wireless printers communicate with a standard protocol hence Linux Operating Systems almost always too easily support printers and scanners. Then you have to press a few times NEXT, NEXT and maybe another NEXT. Make sure you remember how your new manually added printer that only communicates inside your local network outside any VPN is called. Software using printers or scanners like a webbrowser need a simple adjustment. That is when you print you must select the new printer or scanner you just added by hand. Please let me know if this works for you, and if you are English, can you do these steps with screenshots and place them in yours? I have a strange language you don't understand, So hence my screenshots would not explain it to you, but in English it does. I cannot for example tell you how to access the configuration panel in your language but that is why I told you it all starts with a simple command to execute control printers In my case my scanner wasn't even working without VPN and when I executed MSPAINT.EXE, I could even scan wireless when either with or without VPN enabled or disabled. Before I could only print or install hundreds of Megabytes from HP Printer Driver. Remember the name and IP4 address from your printer that is all you need. Don't rely on auto detection when on VPN.
  6. Hi, my wifi connects to Airvpn but ipaddress is the same. Need help, thanks.
  7. HI, It's been brought to my attention that Steam and Microsoft charge different prices depending on your geographic region. Thus it's possible to use a VPN to trick Steam, for example, into thinking you live in a region where prices are lower. However, in the Steam terms, you do agree not to use a VPN for this purpose. And your account could be permanently closed if you get caught. Question: What is the likelihood of getting caught? Specifically with respect to AirVPN.
  8. Hi guys! I set up my Windows 7 PC by this instruction: https://airvpn.org/topic/3405-windows-comodo-prevent-leaks/. It's a nice HOW-TO guide and i'm very grateful for it, but is there any similar guide to add TOR before my VPN connection? I tried to find some info on this forum, but I couldn't. So, if anybody knows links to HOW-TO guides please give it to me. Thank you! P.S. - I know about Eddie, but i really want to set up it with OpenVPN.
  9. Hello, I have AirVPN running as OpenVPN on a Asus RT-AC68P where all my client connect to. Port forwarding and everything works great. I have unRAID running on a home server connected to this router behind the VPN that is running the lastest version on Nextcloud. I am easily able to access my Nextcloud outside the home, remotely, via the AirVPN port forward airdns system. I want to be able to access my Nextcloud server via a single address whether it is remotely (where I use the airdns port forwarder) or in house on the same WiFi network. Clearly if I'm at within the network then the Airdns port forwarder will not work. I know I can just use the local address at home to access but it would be nice not to have to keep switching server addresses. Is there a way to do this? Do I need to get a webhost name and have that forward to the static IP? Thank you!
  10. Hello All, I've been with AirVPN a while now. I think they're the best. My ISP plan was 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. Initially, I had some speed issues. Staff were wonderful and solved my issue. Great speed all around. I recently upgraded my line to 50 Mbps up and 10 Mbps down. When not connected to the VPN I get speeds around 45 to 47 Mbps down and 7 to 8 Mpbs up. Connected with AirVPN, I get about 25 to 27 Mbps and 7 Mpbs up. Strange that the upload is not affected. I have tried so many things; different protocols with different servers and so forth and yet no resolution. I have contacted Staff and they suggested a few things but nothing has worked. I think they may be stumped as well. My modem is a TP-Link TD-W9970. I believe it's properly configured. I do NOT want to try another VPN service. I've been reading online to find a solution. Someone mentioned changing the MTU settings from the computer (not the router). Could not quite get it to work. I don't know if my CPU is responsible as it is about ten years old. I plan to upgrade my system soon. If it is the CPU, I don't understand why the speed is fine without the VPN. Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you all, DL
  11. I work in a school in China that has suddenly changed admin and become somewhat hostile. According to one of the IT people here, they've installed software on a server that would enable them to take screenshots of anyone's computer or phone that is on the network. We don't have to install software on our laptops or phones to be able to get on the network so I really don't see how taking screenshots is remotely possible. It MIGHT work if we log onto the network to move files or to print, but even that seems a bit of a stretch. I trust the IT guy as far as being honest. He didn't install this new powerful software, but heard someone else in his office talking about it. I'm guessing if I'm on a VPN my Internet use should still be secure. Any comments or ideas about this?
  12. Using Windows 10 here. I'm trying to use VPN over Tor, but it's not working! My exit IP is the Tor one and i don't know what to do, since i already followed this: https://airvpn.org/tor/ I'm already with Tor marked in the connection mode, so i test and it says ok, and then i save it. I do this with the Tor Browser already open. I've also already read the "Tor Control Authentication" section of the link above and checked the Torrc file. And there is already the "ControlPort 9151" and the "CookieAuthentication1" writted. In the article above, it also says that i should run from a terminal some kind of code, but it looks like something for Linux distributions. What should I do?
  13. I'm trying to create a docker image that connects to a VPN on launch with Eddie. It appears the error I'm getting is related to a driver that's needed at some point, but I can't find any details. I'm using the standard portable eddie version (though I also tried mono and ended up with the same result). The relevant logs are as follows... . 2017.04.02 22:27:45 - Operating System: Unix 4.4.0.71 - Linux b55511669e6e 4.4.0-71-generic #92-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 24 12:59:01 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/LinuxE 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - OpenVPN Driver - Not available - Will be installed at next connection.I 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - OpenVPN - Version: 2.4.0 - OpenSSL 1.0.2k 26 Jan 2017, LZO 2.09 (/vpn/openvpn)I 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - SSH - Version: OpenSSH_7.2p2 Ubuntu-4ubuntu2.1, OpenSSL 1.0.2g 1 Mar 2016 (/usr/bin/ssh)I 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - SSL - Version: stunnel 5.40 (/vpn/stunnel)I 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - curl - Version: 7.47.0 (/usr/bin/curl)I 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - Certification Authorities: /vpn/cacert.pem! 2017.04.02 22:27:46 - Activation of Network Lock - Linux IPTablesI 2017.04.02 22:28:30 - Checking login .... 2017.04.02 22:28:30 - Updating systems & servers data .... 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Systems & servers data update completed! 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Logged in.I 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Session starting.. 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Unable to understand if IPv6 is active.F 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Driver can't be installed.nI 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Server switch requested from keyboard.I 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Session starting.. 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Unable to understand if IPv6 is active.F 2017.04.02 22:28:32 - Driver can't be installed. 14. It would seem that in an effort to shill for the Chinese Government, Mojang has decided to ban all users on VPN's from connecting to the login servers needed to access the game. In doing so, they hope to force all Chinese players to fall back to the Chinese government approved version of Minecraft. All VPN users should now be logged out when connecting and fed the message "Invalid username or password" When emailing Mojang about the issue, they recommend connecting without a VPN to fix the issue, and in one instance in the reddit thread below, a user was informed that their account was outright banned for using a VPN (However it is unknown if this was because of a previous infraction such as bypassing server bans etc.?) And told to use the Chinese version instead. https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/5vwve1/mojang_now_ban_accounts_for_vpn_usage/ Now i personally do not play Minecraft that much at all anymore, but because of this i cannot access my game simply for trying to protect my privacy, and I'm not even from China. I Refuse to remove the VPN connection simply to play a game, and no one else should have to either. Sadly, i already purchased the game a very long time ago, so i cannot boycott them, but i can certainly spread the news of what they are doing, so that other VPN users looking to play the game should know either not to buy it, expect to disconnect if you do, and if you don't you will have to get the game through other means to retain the ability to play when connected to VPN's.

  16. Hey guys, I was wondering now that your other competitors are actively integrating Wireguard into their offerings, when do you think you'll have something ready for your customers?
  17. Hi all, I have a little problem. I try to tell it with my terrible English. So i like to setup this VPN(airvpn client) >>> SOCKS PROXY>>> Browsers and others, virtual machines etc... (all socks traffic over vpn). The host os is linux.
  18. Very interesting paper here: http://blog.csiro.au/tinker-torrentor-streamer-spy-vpn-privacy-alert/ No mention of AirVPN, though.
  19. Hey guys, i'm brand new to Air vpn and vpn's in general, and I can't figure out how to run the vpn through tor. I am trying to figure out how to get the signal chain to look like this (Computer+vpn encription---->tor----->vpn----->internet. I have tried changing the settings in vpn under preferences to the tor connection option, it says connection successful, but then when I look up my ip through tor it shows the tor exit node ip meaning that anybody can see i'm using tor. Any tips would be great.
  20. Hi, Long-time AirVPN user, I'm on a linux PC, using the ufw method described here: (https://airvpn.org/topic/5586-prevent-leaks-with-linux-firestarter-also-stop-traffic-when-vpn-drops/?p=14095). I would like to share this connection with other devices, having my PC serve as a kind of router. Assume I cannot modify my router or the other devices to natively use AirVPN. I have been able to create a wifi hotspot using an ethernet connection. However, my devices are unable to complete the connection until I disable the firewall. Obviously, this is not an acceptable solution as it will allow leaks and I was wondering if anyone here in the community could modify randombit and worric's method to allow hotspot usage.
  21. Think of sshuttle as a "poor man's VPN". You start sudo sshuttle -r 1.2.3.4 0/0 and when you surf to http://ipchicken.com you're IP is 1.2.3.4, as if you were on a VPN. But sshuttle takes a whole different approach via python. If it works, it is great to use with a rental VPS or sth. like that. It may not work on all Linux versions, but if it does, it is less hassle to run and set up than "softether VPN".
  22. Entire countries are redirected to US IP addresses. Either might be an IP problem, or the servers are really in the United States. If you cannot tell if the server is where they say it is, that's quite a problem! By comparison, i have only found about two AirVPN servers that Geolocate incorrectly, and there are plenty of alternative servers in those regions to supplement. Because PIA does not allow you to connect to specific servers, you have to roll a dice and hope that you connect to a server with good speeds and proper geo location. AirVPN by contrast allows you to pick these specifically, don't like a server? Don't use it. If its slow or has improper geolocation just connect to another server in the region.

  24. Hello, now i get my new connection and with it i get ipv6 only. There is a ds-lite tunnel for ipv4 things but it won't work with the AirVPN client. I always get the following: The machine runs with Xubuntu 16.10 64bit. You will find my logfile in the Attachment. I can't use AirVPN now. :-( What can i do? Cheers AirVPN_20161202_090120.txt
  25. Hello! I'm currently using Linux Mint 18 and would like to configure my system to use VPN over TOR (PC->TOR->VPN). How would I go about doing this? I'm using OpenVPN via terminal with UFW for a network lock. My UFW Config: [AIRVPN SRVR IP] 443/udp ALLOW OUT Anywhere Anywhere ALLOW OUT Anywhere on tun0 Anywhere (v6) ALLOW OUT Anywhere (v6) on tun0 Added to .ovpn configuration to prevent DNS leak: script-security 2 up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf Thanks!
