  1. When I connect to Persei using UDP and the Eddie 2.14.2 my speeds decrease dramatically macOS 10.13.4 (17E202). Not connected to VPN connected to Persei
  2. I'm attempting to host a Minecraft server on campus using the provided internet (we aren't allowed to purchase our own) and would like my friends outside campus to be able to connect but they cannot. I've tried to do port forwarding to allow this but it doesn't seem to be working no matter what I try. I can only connect to the server myself when running it locally (connecting to 127.0.0.1) and not when running it through the vpn. Any suggestions?
  3. Hello, I really didn't want to write this post, especially after reading the "Config Generator not resolving hosts for Entry IP 2" post and the https://airvpn.org/topic/14378-how-can-i-get-vpn-servers-entry-ip-addresses post over and over again. I read these posts a million times each but still couldn't figure out how to get my entry IP address and I kind of guessed for the DNS. The only command line prompt I could even get a response for was: nslookup nihal.airservers.org. I tried so many variations of nslookup nl.all.vpn.airdns.org (for example, uslookup pavo.airservers.org) and couldn't get the earth one to work either: earth.all.vpn.airdns.org I went to the specs page of the airvpn website looking for the VPN DNS and kind of just guessed with 10.4.0.1 Here we go: Operating System: RouterOpenVPN version: >= 2.4 IPv4 only Servers: by Continent Protocol: TCP Port: 1194 I chose TCP 1194 because the router I'm flashing has Tor capability and I'm shooting for true anonymity. Everything is just about set up and ready to go but despite reading the entry-ip-addresses article over and over again I couldn't seem to ascertain how exactly to get it. Thoughts anyone?
  4. Hello, I am writing to request a new server or servers in Estonia. A server in Estonia would be a great addition, as Estonia has excellent online freedom. Please see the links below for more info. 1 2 3 4 5 6 What are your thoughts about my suggestion? Feel free to reply and/or answer the poll.
  5. Hi there, I am totally new to vpn and I just curious about how that all works and how to do it right, and now I am quite confused about thousand different setup methods. I have a plain linux box which runs a service Y on a specific port that shall go throught airvpn. So far I only read that once openvpn is started all traffic goes through the vpn. If I simply start the vpn as descibed here https://airvpn.org/topic/11431-using-airvpn-with-linux-from-terminal/ on the box does this mean that everyone on the other side of the vpn can portscan/connect to services that are running on that box? If I manage that box from another client in my LAN via a vncserver that is installed on that box, can I still reach the box after starting openvpn and can anyone on the other vpn side connect to the vncserver? So my question is what is the easyest way to route only service Y to the vpn and make incomming (from the vpn) request route only to service Y's port?
  6. I've been noticing this lately in wireshark. I'm using OpenVPN 2.4.5. Its sending and receiving to the VPN server, however Wireshark shows it is using IPv4, and not the OpenVPN protocol. Is this something to be concerned about, and if so, how can I fix this issue while using OpenVPN?
  7. Hi, I have an issue with my home network. I have an ASUS RT-AC87U router. I use Expressvpn on the router with polcy routing. My Mac is connected straight to the WAN but I use AirVPN'd client Eddie. I have had no issues with either Expressvpn or AirVPN. Last night I spent serveral hours on my universities website doing work. At the end of the night I decided to just check everything was running ok with the VPN connections. I found no matter what I did (clear caches, delete cookies, check my dns settings, renew the lease etc) this problem persists. My iPhone uses the Expressvpn (openvpn in the router) and my mac uses the AirVPN client eddie. When I run the ipleak.net test I receive 100 DNS errors. I have not changed any settings in the router whatsoever. I've changed nothing. See the screenshots ... (Sweden is AirVPN, US is Expressvpn) Obviously the error is being caused within my router, which I have restarted and checked for a ASUS-WRT Merlin update).
  8. Dear Users, Support Stuff, I have a Problem to solve, i try to Run a Web Server. My ISP dont like this and have restrictions over all Ports from Outbound. So i try with a VPN, i have a Port Forwarding, Port is Open with the Connection to the VPN. If i Open the Browser to the VPN IP and the Port from the VPN i have a Network Timeout. Always... 9. Hi, Totally new to doing VPN over TOR. I'm just seeing what its like to set up. I'm using an iMac 27" macOS 10.13.3 & Eddie 2.12.4. I have Tor Browser installed and running fine, its connected to TOR. I followed the instructions on this page: https://airvpn.org/tor/ - In Preferences for Eddie Proxy/Tor>Type>Tor I clicked the test and Eddie indicates there is connectivity to Tor. Am I actually running the VPN through TOR as it is? See images. The Test indicates there is connectivity. But how do I know the VPN traffic is running through TOR? ipleak.net doesn't indicate any tor exit node. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated. Cheers.
  10. Hello. I want to organize virtual local network. Make my notebook, home PC, and several few virtual machine to be in one virtual "local" network. Is it possible with airVPN?
  11. Hello, As you might have noticed, there is a list circulating on the privacy related forums recently regarding VPN providers: Old chart (The author of the chart did not provide any credible info regarding his tests) </deprecated> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FJTvWT5RHFSYuEoFVpAeQjuQPU4BVzbOigT0xebxTOw/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0 <deprecated> New chart: https://www.comparitech.com/blog/vpn-privacy/best-vpns-privacy-and-anonymity/ While this list might be useful to avoid some providers, it lacks (imho) key values like if the announced locations are real locations and not fake Whois+GeoIP tricks, if the servers are actual bare-bone servers with real internet providers and not cheap shared bandwidth resellers, and of course who is the team behind the VPN company and how they respond to critical security issues, privacy questions and "hard" questions regarding their service. I want to make it an open discussion, where the members that submit their thoughts "Why provider X is better than Air", where me, or other members, can explain why most of the times this is a lie. Since most of those providers oversell cheap VPS servers, and have GeoIP tricks with fake whois (HMA/PureVPN/Ivacy are a good example) to show you 50+ countries where in fact it is mostly NL/US location where you can put fake data in the IP, and open a ticket to Maxmind to update the location. And here you go, a fake country is ready for the gullible users to fall in. I would like to make a discussion where every member can post a "feature" where they think another provider is better, but as I explained, most of them only false advertize it in most cases. The only thing I cannot put up on this challenge is the price, however, being in the hosting industry I do know how much Air pays for their leased servers - this is not a cheap thing to run at all. There are about 100 providers in this list, I tried to find one that is at least honest about their infrastructure and their privacy policy, but I couldn't find anyone except Air. Now this is rather bad news than good one - I wanted to see more, but a fact is a fact... Feel free to throw competitive names here, in a nicely manner, and I will try as much as possible to show you why some points you believe in - are not exactly the way there are on this list. You can also try and point out some improvement points for Air, based on that list, and if they are interesting I am sure Staff can comment about them. Regards.
  12. I've managed to get a pfSense VM working with AirVPN's Serpentis server via Stunnel. Given the importance of using the latest versions of Stunnel and OpenSSL, I used pfSense 2.2-BETA x64, which is based on FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE x64. In Firewall: Aliases: IP, create three aliases, using the + button to add the values: Name Values Description dnssvr 208.67.220.220 208.67.222.222 DNS server IP addresses ntpsvr 0.pfsense.pool.ntp.org default pfSense NTP server sslsvr 178.248.30.133 Stunnel server Using these aliases, you then add rules for the WAN interface to pass necessary outbound traffic, and then a final rule to block everything else. In "Firewall: Rules: WAN", create these rules, specifying “Single host or address” for the pass rules: Action TCP/IP Proto Source Port Dest Port Gateway Queue Description pass IPv4 TCP/UDP WAN address * dnssvr * * none Allow to DNS servers pass IPv4 UDP WAN address * ntpsvr * * none Allow to NTP server pass IPv4 TCP/UDP WAN address * sslsvr * * none Allow to SSL server block IPv4 * WAN address * * * * none Block all other IPv4 block IPv6 * WAN address * * * * none Block all IPv6 Then reboot from the console window, by entering 5 and then y to confirm.
  13. Hi, I wrote a short review about different VPN services and how they are working on DD-WRT routers. AirVPN is also included as a part of the test. Was just testing against Swedish servers, since I'm located in Sweden want the fastest speed and lowest ping, even when using a VPN. Hope AirVPN is soon replacing all Kustband servers in Sweden, with only Altushost as ISP or similar providers
  14. Hello, now i get my new connection and with it i get ipv6 only. There is a ds-lite tunnel for ipv4 things but it won't work with the AirVPN client. I always get the following: The machine runs with Xubuntu 16.10 64bit. You will find my logfile in the Attachment. I can't use AirVPN now. :-( What can i do? Cheers AirVPN_20161202_090120.txt
  15. Problem: I have devices on different subnets ( 192.168.15.x, 192.168.35.x ) and would like for them to be able to discover each other. Specifically I want them so see each others minecraft (bedrock/pocket) worlds. the 15.x network is the "privileged" home network, where as the 35.x network is intended as guest-wifi network with no internet access ( also vpn clients would be given a IP here ) currently they cannot see each other - if I add a route with 192.168.15.x to the vpn config then vpn clients can access webservers in this subnet but minecraft clients still can't see each other. My router is a N66 running tomatoUSB and both subnets are entirely controlled by it. Question: Is this even possible? If so - how? Any help would be appreciated I currently do not know enough to even successfully google for marginally useful information
  16. It would be helpful if current or past users of these services can share their views. Any other advise is also appreciated. Thanks in advance. [Current and satisfied AirVPN user]
  17. The findings I always has an 100Mbit/s connection from my ISP. This always worked well with AirVPN I got about 92Mbit/s with this VPN. Some days ago I got a 200Mbit/s connection from my ISP and the VPN speeds dropped to about 60Mbit/s and sometimes lower. I tried several VPN and also different protocols. Even stunnel didn't fixed the problem. The solution I often read about changing the MTU size or the mssfix value to 1300. This did not the Job for me. My solution was the TCP Optimizer. This tool can just be executed and must not be installed. It should be run in Administrator Mode. (Right click on the exe file -> run as administrator) Step 1 adjust your connection speed Step 2 select your network adapter Step 3 Click on MTU/Latency Step 4 Click on largest MTU [do this once when you are connected to the VPN and once outside the VPN] In VPN I got a result of maximum MTU 1300 and outside I had 1500. Please share your results and your connection speed. Step 5 Back to general settings At the bottom choose "custom" set MTU to the calculated value and "apply changes". Even after the changes not all AirVPN servers worked well for me. I will create a list with servers who worked with my options. Please report your results if this helped you. 18. It would seem that in an effort to shill for the Chinese Government, Mojang has decided to ban all users on VPN's from connecting to the login servers needed to access the game. In doing so, they hope to force all Chinese players to fall back to the Chinese government approved version of Minecraft. All VPN users should now be logged out when connecting and fed the message "Invalid username or password" When emailing Mojang about the issue, they recommend connecting without a VPN to fix the issue, and in one instance in the reddit thread below, a user was informed that their account was outright banned for using a VPN (However it is unknown if this was because of a previous infraction such as bypassing server bans etc.?) And told to use the Chinese version instead. https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/5vwve1/mojang_now_ban_accounts_for_vpn_usage/ Now i personally do not play Minecraft that much at all anymore, but because of this i cannot access my game simply for trying to protect my privacy, and I'm not even from China. I Refuse to remove the VPN connection simply to play a game, and no one else should have to either. Sadly, i already purchased the game a very long time ago, so i cannot boycott them, but i can certainly spread the news of what they are doing, so that other VPN users looking to play the game should know either not to buy it, expect to disconnect if you do, and if you don't you will have to get the game through other means to retain the ability to play when connected to VPN's.

  20. Hi,kinda new here, any kind of guide to follow to get airvpn work with Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD router? i used L2TP with it before with Torguard, but it seems not to connect with airvpn,i tried to change config and add openvpn instead of L2TP,but it fails to connect. thank you.
  21. Hello! I have been using AirVPN at home like a charm for months now, however when I am on a certain network away from my house I cannot seem to get it to work. When I use all of the non-SSL and SSH protocols, it fails to connect. When I use SSL or SSH I get an error in my logs: "Squid does not support some access protocols. For example, the SSH protocol is currently not supported." How can I fix this so I can use SSL or SSH?
  22. So i cant connect to popcorntime whenever i turn on my vpn it works without it but the second it is conected to the vpn it doesnt work anymore, Browser works but is very slow i tried alot of different servers ports i dont know what to do anymore
  23. Today Putin has signed the law to ban VPN and Proxy services in Russia. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fstrana.life%2Fnews%2Fputin_zapretil_anonimajzery_i_servisy_vpn%2F2017-07-30-9205 One more country with a "Great Firewall"? Will you use your VPN service anyway when visiting Russia?
  24. I work in a school in China that has suddenly changed admin and become somewhat hostile. According to one of the IT people here, they've installed software on a server that would enable them to take screenshots of anyone's computer or phone that is on the network. We don't have to install software on our laptops or phones to be able to get on the network so I really don't see how taking screenshots is remotely possible. It MIGHT work if we log onto the network to move files or to print, but even that seems a bit of a stretch. I trust the IT guy as far as being honest. He didn't install this new powerful software, but heard someone else in his office talking about it. I'm guessing if I'm on a VPN my Internet use should still be secure. Any comments or ideas about this?
  25. Think of sshuttle as a "poor man's VPN". You start sudo sshuttle -r 1.2.3.4 0/0 and when you surf to http://ipchicken.com you're IP is 1.2.3.4, as if you were on a VPN. But sshuttle takes a whole different approach via python. If it works, it is great to use with a rental VPS or sth. like that. It may not work on all Linux versions, but if it does, it is less hassle to run and set up than "softether VPN".
