  1. Hello, now i get my new connection and with it i get ipv6 only. There is a ds-lite tunnel for ipv4 things but it won't work with the AirVPN client. I always get the following: The machine runs with Xubuntu 16.10 64bit. You will find my logfile in the Attachment. I can't use AirVPN now. :-( What can i do? Cheers AirVPN_20161202_090120.txt
  2. Good Evening, I had a couple of questions about setting up a VPN with VirtualBox. I believe I have it setup properly, but thought Id ask just to be sure. (Hope this is the right place to ask...) Linux Disto: Ubuntu 16.04.3 64bit VirtualBox: 5.2.2 r119230 So, to start, I setup the VM with 4GB RAM, and 150GB of storage, and keep the network adapter attachment set to NAT(Not sure if it should be left like this). I install ubuntu as usual, and once completed, I begin by disabling IPv6 using the commands: sudo nano /etc/sysctl.conf I then add the three lines: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 I then reboot and run the following command: cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 which replies with '1'. Success...I think. I reboot again to be sure and still see it dispayed as '1'. I download from the AIRVPN website the Linux-Debian/Ubuntu Eddie Client. I install Eddie using: sudo apt install "File Location" Successfully installs. I then notice it has 2 commands listed below in the download: wget -qO - https://eddie.website/repository/keys/eddie_maintainer_gpg.key|sudo apt-key add - This commands replies with a single line stating "OK" The next command doesnt work Deb is not a valid command: deb http://eddie.website/repository/apt stable main No biggy...probably. Afterwards, I do a quick "My IP" seach and see that both the host and guest public IPs are the same. I disable webRTC in Firefox, turn off tracking and history and rebooted the VM again. I check to make sure IPv^6 is disable in the Eddie Preferences, turn on network lock, login, and select my favorite AirVPN server. Once connect, I check with IPleak.net, and see that it connect properly. No leaks (as far as I can tell). I check my connection on my host, and it appears as normal(not connected to the VPN). With all this, I assume my VPN + VM setup is complete. The fact that my Public IP was the same kinda worries me, but it changed in the Guest OS after connecting to the VPN, so I assume it is setup properly. If anyone can confirm if this setup is valid, that would be fantastic. Thanks, That One Guy
  3. Hi everyone, I would like to have my digital ocean VM use a VPN for its outgoing http requests. I am using openVPN on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.5.0-48-generic x86_64). Got the files AirVPN_Europe_TCP-53.ovpn ca.crt ta.key user.crt user.key in one directory. VPN is using TCP protocol on port 53. Also tried with UDP, same problem also copied the files to /etc/openvpn/ to try to run it via openvpn start. If I do that, I get the output: root@tr:/home# sudo service openvpn start * Starting virtual private network daemon(s)... ..but nothing happens. curl http://www.ipchicken.com still reveals the servers ip If I directly run root@tr:/etc/openvpn# sudo openvpn AirVPN_Europe_TCP-53.ovpn Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 OpenVPN 2.3.2 i686-pc-linux-gnu [sSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [EPOLL] [PKCS11] [eurephia] [MH] [iPv6] built on Feb 4 2014 Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 Control Channel Authentication: using 'ta.key' as a OpenVPN static key file Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 Outgoing Control Channel Authentication: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 Incoming Control Channel Authentication: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 Socket Buffers: R=[87380->131072] S=[87380->131072] Thu Sep 18 09:42:35 2014 Attempting to establish TCP connection with [AF_INET]95.211.186.65:53 [nonblock] Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 TCP connection established with [AF_INET]95.211.186.65:53 Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 TCPv4_CLIENT link local: [undef] Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 TCPv4_CLIENT link remote: [AF_INET]95.211.186.65:53 Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 TLS: Initial packet from [AF_INET]95.211.186.65:53, sid=d5ee74c0 46f1dcfd Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 VERIFY OK: depth=1, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=airvpn.org CA, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 Validating certificate key usage Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 ++ Certificate has key usage 00a0, expects 00a0 Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 VERIFY KU OK Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 Validating certificate extended key usage Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 ++ Certificate has EKU (str) TLS Web Server Authentication, expects TLS Web Server Authentication Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 VERIFY EKU OK Thu Sep 18 09:42:36 2014 VERIFY OK: depth=0, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=server, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 Data Channel Encrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 Data Channel Encrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 Data Channel Decrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 Data Channel Decrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 Control Channel: TLSv1, cipher TLSv1/SSLv3 DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, 4096 bit RSA Thu Sep 18 09:42:37 2014 [server] Peer Connection Initiated with [AF_INET]95.211.186.65:53 Thu Sep 18 09:42:39 2014 SENT CONTROL [server]: 'PUSH_REQUEST' (status=1) Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 PUSH: Received control message: 'PUSH_REPLY,redirect-gateway def1,dhcp-option DNS 10.9.0.1,comp-lzo no,route 10.9.0.1,topology net30,ping 10,ping-restart 60,ifconfig 10.9.0.254 10.9.0.253' Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 OPTIONS IMPORT: timers and/or timeouts modified Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 OPTIONS IMPORT: LZO parms modified Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ifconfig/up options modified Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 OPTIONS IMPORT: route options modified Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ip-win32 and/or --dhcp-option options modified Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 ROUTE_GATEWAY 178.62.192.1/255.255.192.0 IFACE=eth0 HWADDR=04:01:28:70:e1:01 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 TUN/TAP device tun0 opened Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 TUN/TAP TX queue length set to 100 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 do_ifconfig, tt->ipv6=0, tt->did_ifconfig_ipv6_setup=0 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 /sbin/ip link set dev tun0 up mtu 1500 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 /sbin/ip addr add dev tun0 local 10.9.0.254 peer 10.9.0.253 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 /sbin/ip route add 95.211.186.65/32 via 178.62.192.1 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 /sbin/ip route add 0.0.0.0/1 via 10.9.0.253 Thu Sep 18 09:42:40 2014 /sbin/ip route add 128.0.0.0/1 via 10.9.0.253 Write failed: Broken pipe After that the VM is just completely down / frozen and I need to restart it. 4. Your eddie portable version of the client which is written in C# make enormous not needed usage of CPU on my ArchLinux. It continually uses around 50% of the CPU which from some reason make load on my machine goes over the 120 load after few minutes. My machine is two core four threads and it uses two cores fully all the time which is insane. I used simply openvpn with generated certs from the website and had minimal under 1% usage. Why does the eddie have that much use of cpu resources. Also one bad thing why there is no possibility to minimize your client. That is a bit irritating. Btw I have disabled checking for servers first I have selected checking for servers every minute then I thought maybe badly written code have problem with checking of the servers. Its not that. I dont write C# I write C and C++ I can write C# I just don't want to. And I expected at least a decent client. Btw I'm using your portable version I might try with AUR version. version is 2.13.6 which is the latest version.
  5. I use Eddie on a Windows 10 x64 laptop, and had very few issues, and I solved all of them through very simple settings within Eddie after reading here. Recently I went to stay with a friend for a few weeks, I had been there before and haven't experienced any AirVPN-related issue associated with these visits. This time around, when I got back home again, I simply couldn't connect to the internet. All my other devices could connect to the internet (both cable and wireless), one of them (Xbox One) did suffer pretty badly from dc's if connected through wifi, but the phone and the Smart TV had good and stable wireless connection throughout the whole ordeal (and the Xbox worked flawless if connected through cable). The laptop, however, couldn't connect at all, cable or wireless didn't matter. I uninstalled Eddie, problem remained. Before this I had of course rebooted all hardware and powercycled everything in the entire network several times, I updated (or checked for updates) everything I could - hardware, software, firmware. Double and tripple checked all DNS- and IP-related settings, flushed, released and reset pretty much everything I could. On the third day I found a working combo.. change and give the laptop a static IP, uninstall VMWare Workstation, use OpenVPN instead of Eddie. If I try to use Eddie, then I can't connect to internet at all. If I re-install VMWare Workstation, same thing. If either of these are installed, I can't connect to internet even with Eddie not even running. And even with my working current config (static IP, no VMWare Workstation or Eddie installed, only OpenVPN, internet dies if I change back to DHCP / assign automatic IP. As long as it's on static, however, everything works just like it used to do with Eddie and VMWare - can connect with and without VPN, can use virtual machines and virtual network adapters (but with VirtualBox and so on instead of VMWare), nothing changes if I temporary use it on another WiFi and then get back home to my own network (cable or wireless doesn't make any difference). Anyone know what could be the issue here? I can connect now, and I guess OpenVPN serves me well although I have to learn a new application to modify the config file to be as safe as the setup I had in Eddie, but it's weird and I'd rather use the software I actually want to use. Especially when it comes to VMWare Workstation (it also worked fine with AirVPN before my trip / switching wifi temporary). I know, I should've saved logs, and I understand that I might not be able to recieve a very specific awnser here. But it's so weird and I have a feeling that I really must have missed something very, very basic..?
  6. I am using AirVPN (Version 2.12.14 Linux 64) installed on Ubuntu 17.04 (64 Bit). In the AirVPN General Preferences menu, I have "Connect at startup" ticked, and "Activate Network Lock at startup" ticked. When the system is started no AirVPN processes are started, and none are started automatically at login. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong ? Many thanks, RoyG
  7. Hi all, I'm hoping for an answer on this, i'll show you the setup first then the question. Here's the setup: Linux server running web server and using AirVPN(Eddie) port forwarding a HTTP port 80 web page with chat function----(no HTTPS) I I I Connected to Internet I I Serving the webpage using AirVPN Exit IP and Forwarded Port I I Windows 10 client connecting to AirVPN Exit IP and Port via web browser and then using the web chat service in http not in https. The Windows 10 client is not running a VPN or any special software. The Question: Is the connection between the client and the AirVPN exit node encrypted even though the client doesnt have VPN software installed? I know that that might sound silly but I would have thought the answer would have been no, so to check this I MITM my WiFi connection but could only see QUIC, TCP, UDP and HTTP coming from the client in Wireshark. The QUIC UDP were encrypted payloads and I searched the HTTP packets data for the plain text messages I was sending in the chat page but couldn't find it, in fact none of the packets were readable other than the source and destination parts. So to recap: Is the clients connection to the AirVPN Exit nodes IP and PORT encrypted? and if so how when im not running a vpn? is it the session to the airvpn exit node? can the data be read in plain text the same way it would on a normal LAN if i was doing packet capture on the HTTP? Please discuss
  8. Hello, I am having trouble setting up a Minecraft game server using AirVPN. I have used AirVPN's port forwarding service and successfully forwarded and opened up a port of my choice and selected the games local port of 25565. I checked this using canyouseeme.org to test this was the case, it was up. I booted up the server and found that i couldn't connected via the port / public exit IP and it just lead to a weird timing out on the ping and leading to a lack of connection for the server. I knew the server was up as i had a local connection to it which showed it was up. I wondered if there was an issue with packets getting lost / dropped so I did a tracert to see if i could see where the connection was going and that worked fine with no issues at all. Then I checked to see if there was anything going on with AIrVPN or maybe my internet provider was being overly strict so i changed to SSL applies caps or blocks lower ip ranges etc. Same result no connection, I tried multiple ways of setting it up and always got the same result of it timing out. Maybe it was my software so I disabled all firewalls / everything and tried it across multiple machines with fresh hardware and on different operating systems. Same issue nothing was working. Tried multiple ways and getting the local connection via ipconfig on my adapter and binding the IP to the minecraft server interface. Still nothing, tried changing the ports of the server interface still nothing. I gave dynamic DNS a go to see if i could circumvent this issue completely with it and still not working. I am really at a loss and have no clue how to fix this any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. Additional Details: - All internet works fine with/without airVpn. - Yes i am connected to a airvpn server and have tried multiple of their servers. - Yes I have restarted / shutdown pc's after installing to give it a "chance" - Yes the port is up and i can see its up via canyouseeme.org - Yes i gave time for the dynamic dns to change and update its entries. - I have tried three different operating systems including Linux. Windows server and desktop. - Connecting via Ethernet cable. - No problems connecting to airvpn servers. - College/University wifi.
  9. I have Eddie installed on a server running Lubuntu 17.10 (and prior to that Lubuntu 17.04). I have Eddie configured to utilise AirVPN Servers located in the USA. I'm very happy with the performance of AirVPN - excellent speed, and great reliability. However - I have one issue that is causing problems. When I run apt-get (or apt), I get timeouts on all of the Ubuntu Repo Servers. I have manually selected Ubuntu Repo Servers located in the USA, in the same city as the AirVPN Server in use when possible, and still encounter these timeouts. I have tried using the Ubuntu utility to identify the fastest Ubuntu Repo Server, and that Utility gives strange results when run via AirVPN. When run through AirVPN, the utility seems to get confused and reports Ubuntu Repo Servers in the strangest places (i.e. Iceland, Peru, Columbia, Bangladesh, etc ...) as being the fastest servers - but these recommended servers also timeout when you run apt update. When this Ubuntu utility is run with Eddie shutdown, the utility correctly identifies the fastest Ubuntu Repo Server as being one in my country, hosted by the ISP that I use .... so the utility is working correctly, provided it is not used via AirVPN. If I completely exit from Eddie, apt-get and apt all work very fast, at roughly the same speed as my other Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Armbian systems. An inquiry to Ubuntu Technical Support regarding this problem resulted in their answering that "it must be a problem with the VPN software". A classic case of buck-passing ! My workaround at the moment is to disable Eddie whenever I need to run apt or apt-get - not really a satisfactory permanent solution. So - has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this problem, or how to fix it ? Thanks RoyG
  10. Hi, I am seeking some help with an issue that I have. I have airvpn set up and install on my ubuntu machine that I am using as a file/media server. I have gotten plex to work remotely perfectly. Before installing airvpn, I would connect to this media server using my windows machine by putting in the domain name that I assigned to the media server into putty on the windows machine and I would connect and do whatever I needed to do via the command line. After installing airvpn and running it on the ubuntu machine (media server) I can no longer connect via putty from the windows machine to the ubuntu machine (media server) Can a staff or admin provide me with some kind of help on this topic so I can fix this issue. Thank you.
  11. hi everyone I just need to know could this rule be the problem I can't solve I've setup an IPSec on my pfsense box from home to my work I have any to any rule on IPSec interface. from home where my airvpn is I can access every host on my network at work, but when I am there I can't access anything at my home box Why is this rule there what exactly does it do thank you
  12. Hi,kinda new here, any kind of guide to follow to get airvpn work with Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD router? i used L2TP with it before with Torguard, but it seems not to connect with airvpn,i tried to change config and add openvpn instead of L2TP,but it fails to connect. thank you.
  13. First of all, I would like to declare that I read and implemented this post: https://airvpn.org/topic/11476-using-airvpn-with-openvpn-for-android/ On OpenVPN, I imported the config file that I generated through AirVPN, and when it comes to activating that config file, I just cannot confirm the dialogue box showing up. It is displaying that there is a connection request and OpenVPN for android wants to set up a VPN connection that allows it to monitor network traffic. I just cannot click OK when this dialogue box pops up... I tried all kinds of things that I thought would affect the result without any success such as giving storage permission to OpenVPN, generating the config file as both UDP and TCP, selecting platform as both Android and Linux, as well as selecting various servers. Don't know what else I can do. I even tried to directly connect to VPN without OpenVPN through Android VPN settings. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hello, I have been referred by a friend who recommended this service, and I have some doubts. Does AirVPN store the IP address of the person connecting to the server ?, if so ... for how long? Do you have access to identifiable user data such as IP address? Do the servers used by AirVPN only work in RAM? At the request of a government / police force / intelligence agency will you release my IP address or any other information that can identify me? Thank you very much for your kindness. I send you a big hug.

  16. Can anyone comment on this report done on vpn leak tests and tell me if these issues have now been fixed on Eddie Mac OS X client please. Or in fact if it ever was a genuine problem. also any IVPN users who have anything to say about that vpn service seeing as they sponsored it. Sorry im not sure on the date it was done so this topic might already be on this forum somewhere but a search here didn't bring any result. heres the link to the report https://vpntesting.info
  17. Currently I cant watch netflix while using a VPN tunnel, is there a quick fix for this?
  18. I'm experiencing very slow speeds using AirVPN. I've been using another VPN service for a year now but their service is becoming crap, can't get a stable connection, so I'm looking for an alternative. Today I purchased a Trial of AirVPN to see what the service with them would be like. My ISP provides me 100Mbps download 10Mbps upload, but when connected through AirVPN servers, I get around 3Mbps download speeds, I can't understand why the connections are so bad and why the speeds are so slow and unstable, even when selecting servers located in the same country. Is this normal? Alternatives?
  19. Hello everyone, I'm using AirVPN and sometimes I access to websites protected by Cloudflare. Cloudflare often bans my IP Address and I've to change server. Could I simply request a new IP Address, without changing the server? Or, is there a way to not be banned? I noted Cloudflare sometimes put my banned IP address to a whitelist and I can use it other times, until Cloudflare bans it another time. Thank you in advance.
  20. Hi, AirVPN Community I just join the AirVPN community. I choose AirVPN becomes its open privacy policies and some advance features like SSL over VPN. However, the Torrent download speed got me disappointed a little. I did some speed test before I used Torrent client. My Wifi Download speed was around 50 mbps and it dropped to 38~ mbps after I connected to AirVPN. This is understandable since I know using VPN is bound to have some performance hit. At the end of the day, I was still able to stream 4k. So, it was all good. Yet, when I tried BitTorrent to download something. The difference was too drastic. I could go from a download speed of 3~4 Mbyte/s when I NOT connected to AirVPN to somewhere around 300~1000 Kbyte/s when I connected. The maximum torrent download speed with AirVPN connection I have seems was only around 1.2 Mbyte/s. That was about 80% drop in performance. I have set up remote port forwarding, disable UPnP port mapping and NAT-PMP. It didn't help. I think since I could reach to 38~ mbps on Youtube with AirVPN, the only two explanations will be either AirVPN is not friendly to p2p, or my Torrent client and setting is not friendly to AirVPN. I have tried pBittorrent but It was the same story. Could you please share your thoughts on why would this happen? Thank you very much! ======================================================================================================================================================================= Update#1 I followed this post:https://airvpn.org/topic/23389-p2p-connection-slow-no-matter-what-i-do/ I changed the protocols to SSL:443, and used Ubuntu torrent to test the speed. It's working perfectly and I can see my speed went up to 8 Mbyte/s. I don't know why it needs to be obfuscated with SSL. If anyone knows the reason, please let me know. Thank you! ======================================================================================================================================================================= Update#2 The bottleneck seems came from UDP Protocols. TCP Protocols is working fine as well. My guess is UDP Protocol drops too many packets between me and vpn server. I cannot get those losing packets from vpn server due to its UDP. So I had to keep requesting for losing packets from peers which makes other peers less likely to passing me more packets, or some of them simply just got timeout.
  21. Sirs I just want to uninstall AIRvpn from Windows 7. I tried uninstalling via Control Panel>Programs & Features>AirVPN uninstall. It said it was uninstalled. Trouble is that I now have NO internet connection. I want to know: 1. Is there a simple way to uninstall it? 2. If yes, how do I do it? 3. If there's no simple way, why isn't there a simple way? 4. If there's only a complicated way, please tell me in VERY simple terms. I'm a bit of an idiot with computers. Wozza
  22. hello all I have some trouble with airvpn on pfsense 2.3 I setup on esxi 6 pfsense and followed the instruction to route all my hosts trough airvpn the problem now is that all my hosts don't have an internet example windows server 2012 R2 shows that I have internet, but I can't open a single page I used almighty PING to troubleshooting the problem and I can ping the pfsense, but I can't ping the cable modem(I am not sure that I suppose to ping the cable modem) I follow the the steps once again and I found something in "Step 4-b: Setting the AirVpn Gateway" Gateways After Editing AirVPN_WAN System: Gateways | Gateways | ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Name | Interface | Gateway | Monitor IP | Description | Actions | | | | | | | | |_____________________|________________|___________________________|___________________________|________________________________|____________| | WAN_DHCP | WAN | 192.168.1.1 | 192.168.1.1 | Interface WAN_DHCP Gateway | | | (default) | | | | | ✐ ☐ Ø π | |_____________________|________________|___________________________|___________________________|________________________________|____________| | AirVPN_WAN | AirVPN_WAN | | | AirVPN_WAN | | | | | | | | ✐ ☐ Ø π | |_____________________|________________|___________________________|___________________________|________________________________|____________| in main WAN_DHCP (default) is under the AirVPN_WAN Is that going to make a difference ?????? Thank you
  23. I am running Windows 10 64 bit and have been using airvpn for about six months now. I have had occasional problems with the GUI failing to reappear after closing the interface and up till now killing the procedures in explorer and restarting the program, or simply restarting the machine entirely, has resolved the issue. As of this morning, I run airvpn and no GUI displays AT ALL so I have zero control over my VPN. I can't set network lock nor can I even tell if my VPN is on or off. Restarting and killing the procedures doesn't help like they used to. This is very frustrating. I ran Glary utilities quick system clean/fix as I do regularly and this problem appeared immediately thereafter. I love airvpn - consider it best vpn option out there but now if I can't resolve this issue in a timely manner I can't think of any solution but a switch to one of the less reputable ( really it seems most all these companies except air are simply 'me too's' in it for quick bucks and how can you trust them? ) options out there. This situation sucks big time. Any advice would be more than appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your input, DB
  24. Hello all, I've been with AirVPN for quite a while and I don't plan on leaving because of the awesome service! But, like many of you I do like to investigate the features and reviews of existing and upcoming VPN services. I was using TorGuard a couple of years ago, it was alright but speeds were very inconsistent. Upon checking their VPN Blog page this morning I noticed that there's a post about then using a new technology called OpenConnect, which is supposed to be the fastest and most secure way of connecting to a VPN. I just wanted to know if this is accurate information and if it is does AirVPN use it or are they planning on using it? Here's a link to the blog post: https://torguard.net/blog/torguard-introduces-openconnect-vpn/
