  1. OK here it is: I updated my imac to the latest mojave and airvpn started acting up. Specifically when i went to shut it down prior to turning the computer off it would lock everything up. The only way I could shut off the mac was to hold down the start button until it shut down. Subsequent start up seemed normal but a repeat of the above issues trying to shut it down. So I decided to delete airvpn and reinstall in via the airvpn site. The moment I removed it the internet connection was lost and I am at my wits end trying to get it back. Any ideas from our mac experts? The only other anomilty was my avira virus said to follow a procedure to make sure it was up to date which i did but it periodically kept repeating itself on the update. I am typing this on a windows computer so the wifi is good and it even shows a strong signal on the mac. The mac just says "failed to open page". Again any expert suggestions welcome but be advised I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed lol. Thanks.
  2. Today I bought a trial of PIA just to test it out and see how it compared to AirVPN. Well, I installed the PIA client on my Windows computer and wasn't satisfied with PIA, so I uninstalled PIA, uninstalled the TAP driver, then uninstalled Eddie as well to make sure nothing went wrong. Well, it did go wrong somehow. I reinstalled Eddie, logged in, it automatically installed the TAP driver again, and then it wouldn't connect to any servers at all, so I uninstalled and reinstalled again, restarted my PC, and now when I connect to a server with Network Lock on, it looks like there is a DNS error of some sort. Previously, when I went to ipleak.net, the DNS testing was near instant and it said "1 server". Now, it takes a very long time for it to test the DNS and it says "0 servers, 100 errors". Also, loading websites works at first, but 3 or 4 minutes after connecting to VPN, domain names will just not resolve. I type in google.com or airvpn.org and it just stays loading forever. Please help, I have no idea what is wrong either because the Eddie log is perfectly normal as if there were no issues. I have restarted the PC a few more times and uninstalled and re installed Eddie a few times but still no dice
  3. Hi, when, if ever will there be more Japan servers? (Question to staff) At least another one would be nice. It's the ONLY server which gives a good latency when connecting from China. For example, the Japan based Iskandar server can achieve 79ms whereas all the others start at 190ms + when connecting from China. Can other China users verify this is the case for them, too? (All China users reading this please comment about your latency!....)
  4. Source: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/voracle-attack-can-recover-http-data-from-vpn-connections/ Hello everyone, I've recently read that article above about this new attack called VORACLE that can possibly allow an attacker to recover data from HTTP traffic sent through a VPN. I've searched these forums for anything mentioning voracle but no results so I'm starting this topic out of interest and concern, and some questions for AirVPN staff. Is AirVPN completely protected from this new attack? Or is this something that AirVPN needs to *address and what can/will be done, if not why? What can AirVPN users do against this if anything or what are the exact steps to configure inside Eddie if anything? (*With the above quote in-mind does AirVPN need to do the same for its service?) Appreciate any replies and interest in the matter. Thanks.
  5. I recently stumbled upon the AirVPN API. I'd like to use it but the data provided by the api seems to be lacking information about the second generation servers, i.e. additional entry IPs and ipv6 IPs (and whether those features are available). Am I missing something or - if my assumption is correct - are there any plans to update the API to include the missing data?
  6. I run OSX 10.12.6 I'm using Eddie 2.15.2 I'm using the latest TBB I've had no problem running Tor over Airvpn with a tor exit node prior to the Internet. I'm trying to run Airvpn over Tor with the Airvpn server prior to the internet. I've looked at https://airvpn.org/tor, as well as every other document that seemed related to my issue. I start the tor browser first, then the Eddie client. I'm able to make a connection from Eddie to tor with the test button within the Eddie client. I'm also able to connect to an airvpn server. However, when I test what my ip address is from the tor browser, it returns the tor exit node address, not the airvpn server address. And when I try another browser, which is not proxied through tor, the ip address returned is that of the airvpn server address. So essentially what I'm seeing is Tor over Airvpn, not Airvpn over Tor. The only difference between connecting using the "tor" proxy in Eddie preferences instead of "none" is that I no longer can directly access .onion sites. Any insight into this issue would be appreciated. AirvpnLog.txt AirvpnSystemReport.txt
  7. Hi, I have written an alternative client for AirVPN that I would like to share with you. Just as Eddie, it supports other providers, too, as long as OpenVPN config files are provided. For AirVPN and Mullvad it offers a convenient update function that just requires you to enter your credentials in order to download the latest server configurations. Furthermore, it allows you to choose among the plethora of protocols offered by AirVPN (including OpenVPN over SSL/SSH) except the experimental ones (I might add support for those in the future, once they become available for all servers). Qomui (Qt OpenVPN management UI) as I have named it, is written in Python and PyQt and should run on any GNU/Linux distribution. It allows you to easily create double-hop connections. In other words, you can route your requests via two OpenVPN servers. This feature works provider-independent. For example, you could choose a Mullvad server for the first hop, and AirVPN for the second (I have successfully tested this with AirVPN, Mullvad and ProtonVPN). Thereby, it avoids a major downside of similar offers by some providers, namely the fact that if one provider controls all "hops" he or she could potentially still see, log or inspect all your traffic. In the latter case, you would gain little in terms of privacy. With the ability to "mix" providers, Qomui does not suffer from the same problem and hence offers some tangible benefits. Obviously, you would still have to sacrifice some speed/bandwith, though. Depending on your DE (looking at you, Gnome!), Qomui will also display a systray icon that shows the country of the server you are currently connected to. Additional features include protection against DNS leaks and a firewall that optionally blocks all outgoing network connections except for the OpenVPN server you have chosen. Since it is never recommended to run graphical applications as root, which is a major flaw of most OpenVPN clients, all commands that require root privileges are handled by a background service that can be controlled via systemd. The following screenshot gives you an idea of what Qomui looks like (on Arch/Arc Dark Theme). If you are interested, you can download Qomui from github: https://github.com/corrad1nho/qomui Of course, I'd be happy for any kind of feedback. If you find bugs or Qomui does not run properly or not at all on your machine, please let me know. I'm happy to help! At last, a big thank you to AirVPN and its amazing community. The fact that you rely more on explaining technical details than empty promises, has helped me to learn a lot. It is also one of the main reason why I chose AirVPN. Commendably, Eddie is also released as open-source software. Only Mullvad does that, too, to my knowledge. Why doesn't every provider do that? You are selling a service, not software! Why would I trust in proprietary software? Funnily, I have never really used Eddie, though, since I was accustomed to manually adding config files to NetworkManager as my first provider did not offer a GNU/Linux client. My interest in features such as OpenVPN over SSL made me look into more convenient solutions, though. Ultimately I decided to write my own program as I wanted to learn some Python and this provided a perfect practical challenge. I have actually used Qomui daily on multiple machines during the past few months and constantly tried to improve it. So I'd thought it'd be about to time to share it (it's an alpha release, though). Have a nice weekend! Corrado
  8. Will this enhance security and reduce chances of DNS leakages on AirVPN? Or can this cause problems? Thank you so much!
  9. Apparently it is as easy as adding the following to the client/server OPVN files: http://my.host.net.nz/2014/04/12/adding-perfect-forward-secrecy-to-openvpn/ Create a common private key, eg openvpn --genkey --secret /path/to/store/pfs.key Securely distribute this key to each OpenVPN client, then add the following to the server tls-servertls-auth /path/to/store/pfs.key 0 and this to each client tls-clienttls-auth /path/to/store/pfs.key 1 Without this, using OpenVPN standalone will lack some essential security features.
  10. Just a short question to the admins here. I would like to use the AirVPN DNS servers on my VPN routers. The manuals (DD-WRT and Tomato) are referring to the Specs Page but I can't find them there anymore.
  11. Hi, Totally new to doing VPN over TOR. I'm just seeing what its like to set up. I'm using an iMac 27" macOS 10.13.3 & Eddie 2.12.4. I have Tor Browser installed and running fine, its connected to TOR. I followed the instructions on this page: https://airvpn.org/tor/ - In Preferences for Eddie Proxy/Tor>Type>Tor I clicked the test and Eddie indicates there is connectivity to Tor. Am I actually running the VPN through TOR as it is? See images. The Test indicates there is connectivity. But how do I know the VPN traffic is running through TOR? ipleak.net doesn't indicate any tor exit node. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated. Cheers.
  12. Hello, I have been using AirVPN for quite some time now... I was previously using the Eddie client on a single machine, but decided to build a PFSense box and configure the VPN there. I am located in Canada, and setting a connection to a single VPN server in Toronto. It seems to give the best connection and reliability rather then going for the ca.airvpn (I seem to always end up at a BC server using this entry) My issue is.... I currently have a 150mbps connection with my ISP. Using PFSense without AirVPN I am able to reach my advertised speeds With AirVPN configured, I am only ever seeing a max of about 30mbps. My hardware setup is quite decent. Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz 4gb DDR3 memory120gb SSD2 Intel NICs (both showing as igb) My speeds using Eddie were very very good, much better then the PFSense speeds; so I can only assume that I have a configuration error (my hardware seems to be quite good from what I have been reading) Some research from other posts did not help better my issue, so I am hoping that posting my own thread on this topic can being me closer to a conclusion with mine. I followed the guide by "pfSense_fan"https://airvpn.org/topic/17444-how-to-set-up-pfsense-23-for-airvpn/ I can post any diagnostics or logs as necessary, I just do not know what you guys would like to see. Any help with this would be appreactiated Regards
  13. I just noticed that I can no longer access the airvpn website from Sky UK broadband connection. Also, AirVPN Windows application can no longer login over a Sky UK broadband connection. I'm not sure if this legal for an ISP to do.
  14. I installed openSUSE Leap 42.3 64bit on vmware and tried to install airvpn linux 64bit client (also tried 32bit version). the packet manager (YaST2) installed the everything successfully but while installing airvpn package, it gives an error "Package airvpn is broken, integrity check has failed.". I redownloaded and retried to install the package a couple of times but it didnt work. The OS is completely updated. Vmware system: intel i53230m 2 core 4gb ram. laptop: Lenovo z500 2013 I downloaded again at least 10 times and retried to install. This is the last error details: Error: INVALID:airvpn-2.13.6-0.x86_64 (file-baac50db): Signature verification failed [4-Signatures public key is not available] Header V4 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 400d7698: NOKEY Header SHA1 digest: OK (90ce2c917b580766d56fea0af16e59db6eb982bc) V4 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 400d7698: NOKEY MD5 digest: OK (0de918f61441971d0ba6f8b7da2556c4 Also when I ignore the error and install the package, airvpn isnt shown and i cannot use it. portable client works but I wanna install. Is there any way to install or solve the problem in openSUSE?
  15. Good Evening, I had a couple of questions about setting up a VPN with VirtualBox. I believe I have it setup properly, but thought Id ask just to be sure. (Hope this is the right place to ask...) Linux Disto: Ubuntu 16.04.3 64bit VirtualBox: 5.2.2 r119230 So, to start, I setup the VM with 4GB RAM, and 150GB of storage, and keep the network adapter attachment set to NAT(Not sure if it should be left like this). I install ubuntu as usual, and once completed, I begin by disabling IPv6 using the commands: sudo nano /etc/sysctl.conf I then add the three lines: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 I then reboot and run the following command: cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 which replies with '1'. Success...I think. I reboot again to be sure and still see it dispayed as '1'. I download from the AIRVPN website the Linux-Debian/Ubuntu Eddie Client. I install Eddie using: sudo apt install "File Location" Successfully installs. I then notice it has 2 commands listed below in the download: wget -qO - https://eddie.website/repository/keys/eddie_maintainer_gpg.key|sudo apt-key add - This commands replies with a single line stating "OK" The next command doesnt work Deb is not a valid command: deb http://eddie.website/repository/apt stable main No biggy...probably. Afterwards, I do a quick "My IP" seach and see that both the host and guest public IPs are the same. I disable webRTC in Firefox, turn off tracking and history and rebooted the VM again. I check to make sure IPv^6 is disable in the Eddie Preferences, turn on network lock, login, and select my favorite AirVPN server. Once connect, I check with IPleak.net, and see that it connect properly. No leaks (as far as I can tell). I check my connection on my host, and it appears as normal(not connected to the VPN). With all this, I assume my VPN + VM setup is complete. The fact that my Public IP was the same kinda worries me, but it changed in the Guest OS after connecting to the VPN, so I assume it is setup properly. If anyone can confirm if this setup is valid, that would be fantastic. Thanks, That One Guy
  16. Super newbie here, apologies in advance: I'm new to AirVPN and VPNs in general. I'm trying to use qBittorent without any of my information leaking and I don't want lawyers and ISPs sending me letters anymore (got the letters before subscribing to AirVPN). Anyways, I read some tutorials here in setting things up for torrenting but some are old (from 2015) and some things explained were complicating to me. To sum it up- how do I go about setting everything up to torrent? OS: Windows 10 64-bit Location: Germany Firewall: Standard Windows one What I did so far: Went into qBittorrent and changed Global Connection limits and maximum connections to 1250 and 250, unchecked the UPnP/NAT -PMP. Thanks in advance for your help!
  17. Hello, my download speed while connect to Air has slowed down again. I have a 50 Mbps. A couple months ago I had huge issues with air and it worked only through SSL, but not that fast. I couldn't locate the issue so I've just wiped out my OS and install Win 10 pro 64bit weeks ago. Since today air worked fine and fast but only with TCP. Since yesterday Air connections are very slow, between 5 - 12 Mbps. I tried everything that I've found in this forum about speed issues, changing ports, from tcp to udp with different ports, also the network adapter issue with 25/15 ect.. but it won't work, the maximum speed I get is 13 Mbps, only on some Netherland servers. All other servers, even those in my country, are way below 10 Mbps. That is very dissapointing and frustrating, specially as I've renew my sub again through the black friday offer. Any ideas?
  18. I use Eddie on a Windows 10 x64 laptop, and had very few issues, and I solved all of them through very simple settings within Eddie after reading here. Recently I went to stay with a friend for a few weeks, I had been there before and haven't experienced any AirVPN-related issue associated with these visits. This time around, when I got back home again, I simply couldn't connect to the internet. All my other devices could connect to the internet (both cable and wireless), one of them (Xbox One) did suffer pretty badly from dc's if connected through wifi, but the phone and the Smart TV had good and stable wireless connection throughout the whole ordeal (and the Xbox worked flawless if connected through cable). The laptop, however, couldn't connect at all, cable or wireless didn't matter. I uninstalled Eddie, problem remained. Before this I had of course rebooted all hardware and powercycled everything in the entire network several times, I updated (or checked for updates) everything I could - hardware, software, firmware. Double and tripple checked all DNS- and IP-related settings, flushed, released and reset pretty much everything I could. On the third day I found a working combo.. change and give the laptop a static IP, uninstall VMWare Workstation, use OpenVPN instead of Eddie. If I try to use Eddie, then I can't connect to internet at all. If I re-install VMWare Workstation, same thing. If either of these are installed, I can't connect to internet even with Eddie not even running. And even with my working current config (static IP, no VMWare Workstation or Eddie installed, only OpenVPN, internet dies if I change back to DHCP / assign automatic IP. As long as it's on static, however, everything works just like it used to do with Eddie and VMWare - can connect with and without VPN, can use virtual machines and virtual network adapters (but with VirtualBox and so on instead of VMWare), nothing changes if I temporary use it on another WiFi and then get back home to my own network (cable or wireless doesn't make any difference). Anyone know what could be the issue here? I can connect now, and I guess OpenVPN serves me well although I have to learn a new application to modify the config file to be as safe as the setup I had in Eddie, but it's weird and I'd rather use the software I actually want to use. Especially when it comes to VMWare Workstation (it also worked fine with AirVPN before my trip / switching wifi temporary). I know, I should've saved logs, and I understand that I might not be able to recieve a very specific awnser here. But it's so weird and I have a feeling that I really must have missed something very, very basic..?
  19. I upgraded to 2.13.6 and since then I noticed the Tor entry node remains constant regardless of what I try. Shouldn't the Tor circuit "This browser" to first Tor node change whenever I request a new Tor circuit? Does this mean Tor browser does not go through AirVPN first? How can I fix this?
  20. Your eddie portable version of the client which is written in C# make enormous not needed usage of CPU on my ArchLinux. It continually uses around 50% of the CPU which from some reason make load on my machine goes over the 120 load after few minutes. My machine is two core four threads and it uses two cores fully all the time which is insane. I used simply openvpn with generated certs from the website and had minimal under 1% usage. Why does the eddie have that much use of cpu resources. Also one bad thing why there is no possibility to minimize your client. That is a bit irritating. Btw I have disabled checking for servers first I have selected checking for servers every minute then I thought maybe badly written code have problem with checking of the servers. Its not that. I dont write C# I write C and C++ I can write C# I just don't want to. And I expected at least a decent client. Btw I'm using your portable version I might try with AUR version. version is 2.13.6 which is the latest version.
  21. Hi all, I'm hoping for an answer on this, i'll show you the setup first then the question. Here's the setup: Linux server running web server and using AirVPN(Eddie) port forwarding a HTTP port 80 web page with chat function----(no HTTPS) I I I Connected to Internet I I Serving the webpage using AirVPN Exit IP and Forwarded Port I I Windows 10 client connecting to AirVPN Exit IP and Port via web browser and then using the web chat service in http not in https. The Windows 10 client is not running a VPN or any special software. The Question: Is the connection between the client and the AirVPN exit node encrypted even though the client doesnt have VPN software installed? I know that that might sound silly but I would have thought the answer would have been no, so to check this I MITM my WiFi connection but could only see QUIC, TCP, UDP and HTTP coming from the client in Wireshark. The QUIC UDP were encrypted payloads and I searched the HTTP packets data for the plain text messages I was sending in the chat page but couldn't find it, in fact none of the packets were readable other than the source and destination parts. So to recap: Is the clients connection to the AirVPN Exit nodes IP and PORT encrypted? and if so how when im not running a vpn? is it the session to the airvpn exit node? can the data be read in plain text the same way it would on a normal LAN if i was doing packet capture on the HTTP? Please discuss
  22. Hello, I am having trouble setting up a Minecraft game server using AirVPN. I have used AirVPN's port forwarding service and successfully forwarded and opened up a port of my choice and selected the games local port of 25565. I checked this using canyouseeme.org to test this was the case, it was up. I booted up the server and found that i couldn't connected via the port / public exit IP and it just lead to a weird timing out on the ping and leading to a lack of connection for the server. I knew the server was up as i had a local connection to it which showed it was up. I wondered if there was an issue with packets getting lost / dropped so I did a tracert to see if i could see where the connection was going and that worked fine with no issues at all. Then I checked to see if there was anything going on with AIrVPN or maybe my internet provider was being overly strict so i changed to SSL applies caps or blocks lower ip ranges etc. Same result no connection, I tried multiple ways of setting it up and always got the same result of it timing out. Maybe it was my software so I disabled all firewalls / everything and tried it across multiple machines with fresh hardware and on different operating systems. Same issue nothing was working. Tried multiple ways and getting the local connection via ipconfig on my adapter and binding the IP to the minecraft server interface. Still nothing, tried changing the ports of the server interface still nothing. I gave dynamic DNS a go to see if i could circumvent this issue completely with it and still not working. I am really at a loss and have no clue how to fix this any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. Additional Details: - All internet works fine with/without airVpn. - Yes i am connected to a airvpn server and have tried multiple of their servers. - Yes I have restarted / shutdown pc's after installing to give it a "chance" - Yes the port is up and i can see its up via canyouseeme.org - Yes i gave time for the dynamic dns to change and update its entries. - I have tried three different operating systems including Linux. Windows server and desktop. - Connecting via Ethernet cable. - No problems connecting to airvpn servers. - College/University wifi.
  23. I have Eddie installed on a server running Lubuntu 17.10 (and prior to that Lubuntu 17.04). I have Eddie configured to utilise AirVPN Servers located in the USA. I'm very happy with the performance of AirVPN - excellent speed, and great reliability. However - I have one issue that is causing problems. When I run apt-get (or apt), I get timeouts on all of the Ubuntu Repo Servers. I have manually selected Ubuntu Repo Servers located in the USA, in the same city as the AirVPN Server in use when possible, and still encounter these timeouts. I have tried using the Ubuntu utility to identify the fastest Ubuntu Repo Server, and that Utility gives strange results when run via AirVPN. When run through AirVPN, the utility seems to get confused and reports Ubuntu Repo Servers in the strangest places (i.e. Iceland, Peru, Columbia, Bangladesh, etc ...) as being the fastest servers - but these recommended servers also timeout when you run apt update. When this Ubuntu utility is run with Eddie shutdown, the utility correctly identifies the fastest Ubuntu Repo Server as being one in my country, hosted by the ISP that I use .... so the utility is working correctly, provided it is not used via AirVPN. If I completely exit from Eddie, apt-get and apt all work very fast, at roughly the same speed as my other Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Armbian systems. An inquiry to Ubuntu Technical Support regarding this problem resulted in their answering that "it must be a problem with the VPN software". A classic case of buck-passing ! My workaround at the moment is to disable Eddie whenever I need to run apt or apt-get - not really a satisfactory permanent solution. So - has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this problem, or how to fix it ? Thanks RoyG
  24. Hi, I am seeking some help with an issue that I have. I have airvpn set up and install on my ubuntu machine that I am using as a file/media server. I have gotten plex to work remotely perfectly. Before installing airvpn, I would connect to this media server using my windows machine by putting in the domain name that I assigned to the media server into putty on the windows machine and I would connect and do whatever I needed to do via the command line. After installing airvpn and running it on the ubuntu machine (media server) I can no longer connect via putty from the windows machine to the ubuntu machine (media server) Can a staff or admin provide me with some kind of help on this topic so I can fix this issue. Thank you.
