We're very glad to inform you that a Dynamic DNS service is now available to all Premium members at no surcharge.

The DDNS service lets you define up to 20 domain names to make the services running behind Air VPN servers more comfortably reachable, and keep a domain name persistent across all Air VPN servers.

    Hello!

Thank you all for the great feedback!

We are doing our utmost best to further improve the service. In the last 30 days we have implemented completely new web site, account processor, configuration generator, ticket system, several new servers (also in 3 additional countries), OpenVPN over SSL & OpenVPN over SSH on all servers, and today we have released a Dynamic DNS service. Also, the response time to the tickets has decreased. The techies have worked very hard, and these feedbacks are the best reward.

    @FPyro
Have you tried connections to different ports? It's important, in case your ISP performs port shaping. Additionally, if your ISP has invested in DPI tools, it might be using them to throttle all sorts of protocols. OpenVPN has a typical fingerprint which makes its connection distinguishable from pure SSL/TLS connections. In this case you might like to try OpenVPN over SSH, so DPI will see pure SSH. In general this is NOT recommended for performance, but in your peculiar case (10-20% only of your nominal peak bandwidth) it's worth a try, because if your ISP does not throttle SSH (or if it throttles SSH less than OpenVPN) you might well improve the performance. As you know, all Air servers "support natively" OpenVPN over SSH, so you should be ready to go in a couple of minutes.

    Hello!

We're very glad to inform you that a new 100 Mbit/s server located in Portugal is available: Tureis.

The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Member Area"->"Access without our client").

The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP.

Just like every other Air server, Tureis supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.

As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

Thanks a lot for your help and the info.
I personally have been having issues finding a good Dynamic DNS service and I would love to know that AirVPN could be my one-stop-shop. The main problem that I had been having in the past with DNS services though was the lack of good support for IPv6 detection in their software. Granted this becomes largely irrelevant when connecting to one of your servers through the client, as the line has already been established.

    Hi AirVPN,

Could I suggest a future enhancement for your VPN Client?

If the client displayed the currently connected AirVPN server in the Title Bar of the Application and/or in the Application tool tip that would be very handy.

Currently, the only way you can find out which server you're connected to (if you can't remember for sure) is to disconnect and look at which server the Client has selected.

Seems like a quick thing to add on ...

    Thanks.

When attempting to add a port, typing in the port number followed by the Enter key does not function correctly (submit the port to be added) but in fact deletes a previous port that has been forwarded (the first/lowest port).

This could possibly be a side effect of the recent bugfix.

Also, I'm now getting "Port X already assigned to you." when trying to add a port back even though it's not shown. "You are using 3 of 20 ports available." I see 3, but it's reporting the 4th one is still assigned. Could be temporary.

EDIT: Now showing 4 of 20 and the port has been added back however the main issue of the topic still persists.

HOW TO FORWARD PORTS TO YOUR DEVICES WITH IPTABLES

You need to create a basic DNAT on your router. Remember that the router GUI forwards ports from the WAN to LAN. When connected to the VPN you must forward ports from TUN to LAN. Therefore, it is imperative that you do NOT forward ports in the GUI of the router.

    Assuming that:
destIP is the IP address of the destination device port is the port you wish to forward to that device tun1 is the tun interface of your router (please check! on some routers it can be tun0, on Tomato it can be tun11) you need to forward both TCP and UDP packets you need to add the following rules. Please note that the following rules do NOT replace your already existing rules, you just have to add them.

    iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p udp -d destIP --dport port -j ACCEPT
    iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p tcp -d destIP --dport port -j ACCEPT
    iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p tcp --dport port -j DNAT --to-destination destIP
    iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p udp --dport port -j DNAT --to-destination destIP

Note: if your router firmware iptables supports the multiport module you can use --match option to make your rules set more compact. Please see here, thanks to Mikeyy https://airvpn.org/topic/14991-asuswrt-merlin-multiple-ports/?do=findComment&comment=31221

Staff reacted to Mastiff in Solution - Linux/OpenVPN - "Save" Button Greyed Out & Unable To Save   ...
    Hi,
Just wanted to share a solution which (for me) continued from this post , which explained in great detail how to set up your OpenVPN with linux.
After having followed the steps exactly, I was unable to click on the "Save" button to save my VPN configuration/import because the "save" button was just grey.  No matter what I tried, the button just stayed grey.
Having researched this topic on Google, I found many posts where other Linux users had the same problem and in some instances reported this as a bug. Like here for example.

Well, as it turns out the answer is so simple, that I could kick myself for having not thought of such a simple solution earlier.  The answer is right here on AirVPN.

Normally when saving a configuration, you probably just save it from AirVPN onto your laptop or computer, right?
Well, there is one single thing that you need to do prior to clicking the Generate button.
Place a "tick" in the "Advanced Mode box.  Then pick "Linux and others", and most importantly under Advanced pick "Separe keys/certs from .ovpn file".

You then get seperate files: ca.crt, user.crt, user.key, and the .ovpn file.

Then click the "Import" button button in your Network > VPN config section and import the .ovpn file.  It automatically populates all the other fields with your other certificates and keys.

And your "Save" button is now clickable.

As you can see, we have deeply modified our system: new forum, new account processor, new support implementation and more.
The forum enables you to use several functions that were previously unavailable, including the repeatedly required PMs between members, while the new account processor is much more flexible, eliminates some irritating defects of the previous one and offers additional features. The new support system allows us to follow and handle your requests and tickets more quickly and effectively.
