New user, need pointing in the right direction.

Important note: ipleak.net only receives IPv4 packets and only supports IPv4 (not IPv6). MAC addresses are treated by ARP to map a local IP address to a physical node/device, so you will not see MAC addresses anyway in ipleak.net or outside your local network (if you rely on IPv4), they are simply not included in IPv4 packets. WIth IPv4, your machine MAC address is not transmitted outside your local network segment (in which ARP comes into play, for example). Things are quite different in IPv6 (for this argument, just consider that ARPv6 does not exist and that ARP is not usable) that's why it's important to consider that ipleak.net does not support IPv6. Kind regards -
Hello! Due to the following vulnerability: https://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2016/02/cve-2015-7547-glibc-getaddrinfo-stack.html and having seen that patches are now available for all of our systems, we inform you that we are upgrading ALL of our servers. The maintenance will have an impact on connected clients which will be disconnected by the VPN servers. Each upgraded server will remain unavailable for a couple of minutes. Web site can remain unavailable for two minutes during the maintenance. Upgrade is starting at 13.10 CET. EDIT: maintenance completed successfully. Kind regards AirVPN Staff

I lose internet everytime I use this program

Hello, from the symptoms it might be a router bug, perhaps related to UDP. Try to upgrade the router firmware. Kind regards -
why AIRVPN not using sha2 instead of sha1 ?
Staff replied to tiger83052's topic in General & Suggestions
does Eddie by default use HMAC SHA384 ? or it should be added manually ? if yes , then how to do it ? Hello! It does not depend on Eddie, it's on OpenVPN. Eddie comes packaged with an OpenVPN version that supports it and will pick it by default. Otherwise make sure that OpenVPN in your system is up to date. Kind regards -
why AIRVPN not using sha2 instead of sha1 ?
Staff replied to tiger83052's topic in General & Suggestions
Hello, OpenVPN does not use SHA-1 as packets authentication cipher. It uses HMAC SHA1, so you just don't care about collisions. In the Control Channel you can also have HMAC SHA384. See also https://airvpn.org/specs For a more thorough discussion see https://airvpn.org/topic/14837-control-channel-cipher-satisfactory/page-2?do=findComment&comment=33173 Kind regards -
Hello, as you can see it does not look like it's on Antares.Maybe traceroute from those five ISPs could provide some hint but again we could do nothing, Antares and datacenter look perfect from all the major transit providers we use in 17 countries. Kind regards
-
Hello, from inside Antares there are no packet loss to Google, so the problem is somewhere between Antares and your ISP(s). Compare also with the Ping Matrix and Antares history: https://airvpn.org/pingmatrix https://airvpn.org/servers/Antares which show sporadic and minimal packet loss in Antares. Totally irrelevant. Kind regards

Airvpn DNS problem using Eddie
Staff replied to chuckhammerberry's topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
you agree with them? that's crazy. While I agree there is something wrong on my PC and i'm open to reimaging my desktop but to respond to your customer with that comment (offer no solution) and just refund my subscription and cancel my account is not what I call good customer service Hello! The way you expose the facts is very peculiar, to say the least, and casts some doubts on your good faith. Just for the readers, because you should already know: your account has not been deleted or anything else (and this is obvious, since you could write on the forum with that very same account)your account can still access VPN serversthe support you need goes well beyond technical support pertaining to Air, but as a courtesy you have been fully refunded (for your last payment) because you can't, unfortunately, expect infinite support on this problem (and any other problem which is not Air competence). In this way you can decide with no time pressure what to do, and continue testing without your one year money commitmentbefore giving up, support persons provided you with more than 30 replies in multiple tickets (it's not that you have been left with the problem without even trying to solve it)Kind regards -

Can other vpn users connect to my machine?
Staff replied to txtseam's topic in General & Suggestions
Hello, in a VPN in which all nodes are trusted, direct connections between nodes inside the VPN can be desirable (to share resources, for example, and more). In a public service like ours nodes of course can not be trusted. Therefore we do not allow direct connections between nodes inside the VPN. Kind regards -
Please enable "Seamless tunnel" in "openvpn-connect" application. Kind regards

ANSWERED Starting uTorrent kills VPN connection.

Hello! Please check the Kaspersky settings about UDP. During the last years we have met hundreds of cases in which Kaspersky thought that the UDP flow was an UDP flood attack. As a reaction it starts dropping packets and causes disconnections (when you connect to the VPN in UDP). Problem arises especially when you run a torrent client because the UDP flow rises up and the UDP/TCP ratio tends to infinite. Kind regards -

Any firewall different than Windows Firewall must not be "turned off", it must be removed (if you wish to use Network Lock). Kind regards
-
Hello, if you still have "WebRTC leaks" with Network Lock enabled then the firewall is not working properly. In the last weeks (from the tickets) we have seen a rising amount of Windows users that run two or EVEN THREE firewalls simultaneously, obviously with catastrophic consequences. We think that running multiple firewalls is the most common reason for which Network Lock is reported to not prevent all leaks in Windows. We remind you that a firewall is a program running with enough privileges to access and modify the OS packet filtering table. If you run more than one process with such features, you have multiple programs which continuously compete with each other to modify the packet filtering tables, with unpredictable results. Kind regards

ANSWERED Account not staying logged in (WEBSITE)
Staff replied to Earful8's topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
The problem was solved on 23-Dec-2015. Kind regards -
That makes no sense, with due respect. You don't need to compensate anything. If you are worried about that, just buy the strictly necessary Bitcoins for your purchases (or sell a service or your work for them) and spend them immediately. Kind regards

We have made exactly the same considerations but ultimately we decided to make this server public because at the moment we have no valid alternatives in Prague (with the same or higher requirements). We are working to see if we can get different IP addresses for a more favorable geo-location. Kind regards

Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in the Czech Republic is available: Zuben. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator"). Zuben accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP. Just like every other Air server, Zuben supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses. Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Team

It's a bug of CKEditor. The second time you open the same post containing quotes (write, leave page, load saved content or write, post, edit this post) and you press Backspace somewhere, the quote boxes go to limbo. Workaround: If you make mistakes, mark everything you did wrong and replace it. Yes, an extremely annoying bug. Another workaround is just pressing ENTER at the end of the each quoted piece (outside the quote itself). You will notice that the quoted piece will be re-formatted properly. After that, if you delete a character in the text, you should not lose the quote boxes anymore. Note: if you have various pieces of quotes text, you will need to press ENTER at the end of each quoted piece, before starting to edit your own text. Kind regards

Hello! Since you can connect in TCP it's not a client bug. Both the Air client and Tunnelblick are OpenVPN wrappers. It's OpenVPN that can't enter the VPN in UDP. Before anything else you should make sure that no packet filtering tool, either on your system or router, is interfering with UDP (and/or OpenVPN) packets. If it's your ISP the culprit blocking UDP or anyway interfering with it, the only solutions are connections over TCP or changing ISP. Kind regards

@mrmindway Please make sure that your router queries VPN DNS servers and that the devices connected to the router query either VPN DNS servers or router (and not any other DNS). Kind regards
