macinmac reacted to Staff in New 1 Gbit/s server available (BG) ...
Hello!
We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in Bulgaria is available: Fornax.
The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").
The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194 and 2018 UDP and TCP.
Just like every other Air server, Fornax supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.
As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue.
Kind regards and datalove

macinmac reacted to borgqueenx in AirVPN Comparisions, iOS setup and iOS suggestion for staff ...
I was trying to go away from AirVPN recently, because airvpn had trouble connecting to their servers and sometimes it would make me have hours of no internet connection. Also after uninstalling airvpn i kept having trouble and had to reset the firewall of windows basicly.
I also never liked airvpn through the OpenVPN app on iphone because i kept getting random disconnects and it wouldn't automaticly reconnect.
The reason why i loved airvpn and wanted to stay here though was because of the speed, stability (PureVPN for example has huge lagspikes that last ~3 seconds every 30-60 mins or so, unusable for gaming) and for that i never got a google captcha check.
-------
But all negatives changed.
The problem on my PC, was that i had a older client of eddie. I upgraded 2 days ago and thinks have been fine until now with no more failures to connect!
On iOS i changed to TCP instead of UDP. Not in the settings of OpenVPN but in the profile creator on the website itself. It clearly says people should use UDP for "best performance" but clearly TCP is way more stable on IOS and ive already been connected for 2 nights now without the VPN disconnecting over the sleeping time and not a single time during the day either.
In my opinion for iOS users they should recommend the TCP over the UDP choice.
for those curious about the rest of my IOS settings here you go:
So comparing to other VPNs recently:
ExpressVPN i never tried they ask even with coupons WAY too much.
PureVPN: Huge stability issueses.
VyprVPN: Very shady way of dealing with logs and privacy.
IPVanish: Google captcha checks every single time wich annoys me alot, but fast and stable on both iphone and PC. Had to send a email after payment to activate account though, and the account page for ipvanish was not working for 3 days straight until i emailed them and the next day it worked again.
NordVPN: Slow....
AirVPN: Stable, fast, very transparant, very afforable.

macinmac reacted to OpenSourcerer in Why no how-to guide for using AirVPN with OpenVPN on iOS? ...
There are a few threads in the past talking about this, including this. It's due to how iOS is designed, there's nothing AirVPN or even OpenVPN can do.
And Network Lock is an Eddie feature. There's not even a client on Android, and that's the easier OS to implement a VPN on.

@snapz , @trekkie.forever
Issue about SSH connection with Eddie 2.12.4 and macOS confirmed.
Officially, the fix will be in 2.13.
But as an exception, to avoid releasing a new version only for this custom and little fix, we have patched the current 2.12.4 version. Please simply re-download.
Nothing has been changed in Windows or Linux builds.
Kind regards

macinmac reacted to Clodo in [project] Windows Pocket Firewall ...
Pocket Firewall for Windows (Vista and above, no XP)
Doesn't require any driver installation Portable Pocket, Safe, absolutely not OS invasive: if you brutally kill the process, rules are cleaned (persistent mode not yet implemented). Requires Administrator privileges Requires .NET 4 (at the moment) 32 bit and 64 bit edition It is not needed for Network Lock, IPv6 block or DNS Lock with Eddie (AirVPN client). Eddie 2.11 (currently under experimental phase) that already has it built-in.
It was born to study whether we can avoid the dependencies between Eddie (AirVPN Client) and Windows Firewall for the Network Lock / IPv6 lock / DNS lock features.
There are a lot of improvements that can be done (viewer/editor of rules running on the system, persistent rules across boot, etc).
I think it can be an interesting community project, a free and open source alternative to expensive firewall software.
I released all source-code on GitHub (under GPLv3).
Download v0.1: 32 bit , 64 bit

macinmac reacted to Staff in Eddie 2.12.4 released ...
Hello!
We're very glad to inform you that a new Eddie Air client version has been released:2.12.4.
Eddie 2.12 includes important bug fixes and many changes meeting users' requests and preferences.
Furthermore, some parts have been rewritten to make handling of additional commodities more efficient. For example, curl is now used for any HTTP and HTTPS request, and stunnel "verify" parameter has been again set to 0, to increase likelihood to "bypass" restrictive proxy/firewalls in "OpenVPN over SSL" mode, referring the whole security layer to OpenVPN.
2.12 version is compatible with several Linux distributions. For very important notes about environments, please read here: https://airvpn.org/forum/35-client-software-platforms-environments
Please read the changelog: https://airvpn.org/services/changelog.php?software=client&format=html
Upgrade is strongly recommended.
Just like previous versions, Eddie implements direct Tor support for OpenVPN over Tor connections. Eddie makes OpenVPN over Tor easily available to Linux and OS X users: no needs for Virtual Machines, middle boxes or other special configurations. Windows users will find a more friendly approach as well. This mode is not handled anymore as a generic connection to a socks proxy, but it is specifically designed for Tor and therefore solves multiple issues, especially in Linux and OS X, including the "infinite routing loop" problem (see for example http://tor.stackexchange.com/questions/1232/me-tor-vpn-how/1235#1235 )
As far as we know, Eddie is the first and currently the only OpenVPN wrapper/frontend that natively allows OpenVPN over Tor connections for multiple Operating Systems. https://airvpn.org/tor
We recommend that you upgrade Eddie as soon as possible.
Eddie 2.12 for GNU Linux can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/linux
Eddie 2.12 for Windows can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/windows
Eddie 2.12 for OS X Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and macOS Sierra can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/macosx
PLEASE NOTE: Eddie 2.12 package includes an OpenVPN version re-compiled by us from OpenVPN 2.4 source code with OpenSSL 1.0.2k for security reasons and to fix this bug: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/ticket/328
Eddie overview is available here: https://airvpn.org/software
Eddie includes a Network Lock feature: https://airvpn.org/faq/software_lock
Eddie 2.12.x is free and open source software released under GPLv3. GitHub repository https://github.com/AirVPN/airvpn-client
