Adzkii got a reaction from cc123 in my eddie client isn't showing scores or latency   ...
i have the most recent version eddie (experiment), my client isn't showing any score or latency on any server or location. it's hard for me to pick which server is best for my gaming needs or browsing needs. i have already connected to 5 servers which come out to be awful on latency and speed.

i really need the scores and latency checks on the eddie client, anyone?
i added two images to the attachments, one of them are my router firewall configuration, am i missing something?

On my 350 line, I'm getting 200mbit/sec over encrypted vpn tunnel.

    Try the following...

Preferences > Protocols ... set it to 'SSL 443' or 'Automatic'
Preferences > Networking ... set both send/receive buffers to '256' or '512 KB'
Preferences > OVPN directives ... insert 'mssfix 1442' as Custom command

    Save these settings and reconnect.

Also, what is the CPU processor's spec on on your computer? Computer's CPU matters for speeds over encrypted tunnel.

Adzkii reacted to bluesjunior in virgin media throttling speed with huge packet loss   ...
I am also a VM customer and have there 200Mbps package. Like you I suffered from very bad throttling starting approx 4-5mths ago, previously I would get between 75-100+Mbp/s while running through AirVPN  but found this was cut right down to 18 -20Mbp/s now while on AirVPN.
I think it began after they replaced my old Superhub 2.1ac for the Superhub 3.0. I tried a lot of different solutions from here and also the Virgin site but nothing seemed to work. I use qBittorrent and previously I had up to 15-17Mib/s on well seeded downloads but found that now it was like I was capped at 5.2Mib/s in total. In the end I bought a Linksys EA7500 Max Stream router for £50, set my Superhub 3.0 to modem mode and found that I was still having the same issue.

On further research I came across a post here where the OP was advised to use UDP 1194 the Official OpenVPN port in the AirVPN Preferences>Protocols and this solved it for me. Now I am getting between 75- 100+Mbp/s while using AirVPN and my download speed on qBittorrent has risen to better than it was before in fact I had one download where I was gettiing a little over 20Mib's for a short time. Now I only found out about the UDP 1194 option after I bought the router so I can't say if it will work for you through your Superhub but if it doesn't then I can recommend the Linksys EA7500. Hope this helps.

Adzkii reacted to Staff in IPv6 support and new smart features   ...
    Hello!
We're very glad to inform that full IPv6 support is being deployed to our VPN servers. The experimental phase ended during the first half of June and we can now reliably deploy IPv6 to any other VPN server, provided that it is in a datacenter with IPv6 infrastructure of course. This thread will be periodically updated to provide the list of VPN servers new generation setup (internally, we call this new setup "Gen 2").

FINAL UPDATE: as of September the 14th 2018, all AirVPN servers have been upgraded to 2nd generation software.

    New smart features:
Standard protocols/ports with IPv6 support (*), updated OpenVPN server, better cipher negotiation. You can keep using AirVPN as usual, even if you have an old OpenVPN version, on entry-IP addresses 1 and 2 of each server. Additional protocols/ports with IPv6 support (*), updated OpenVPN server, better cipher negotiation, 'tls-crypt' support (*), TLS 1.2 (*) forced on entry-IP addresses 3 and 4 of Gen 2 servers. The additional protocols/ports mentioned in this paragraph require OpenVPN 2.4 or higher versions (*) OpenVPN 2.4 or higher version is required.

tls-crypt plays a role even against ISPs that throttle or block OpenVPN.

Something more about tls-crypt can be found here: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/Openvpn24ManPage
    Search for "--tls-crypt keyfile"

Planning the future: internal load balancing between multiple OpenVPN daemons.

This is a feature which will let OpenVPN squeeze the maximum bandwidth on each server, because OpenVPN runs in a single thread of a single core. By balancing the load on multiple OpenVPN daemons with a reliable algorithm, we overcome significantly this OpenVPN limitation.

Such bandwidth would be mostly wasted without our load balancing method simply because there are no CPUs capable to process 10 Gbit/s AES-256 encryption/decryption on multiple flows to/from multiple channels (according to our empirical tests on the field, the load does not grow linearly with the growth of connected OpenVPN clients) with just one one core.

Our solution is important because it's a founding prerequisite toward servers connected to 10 Gbit/s lines, even if OpenVPN multicore / multi-threading support should not become available in the near future, not to mention that it can be useful even in different environments.

The internal load balancing is already active on all "Gen 2" servers.

    Kind regards and datalove

If you trust the comments, it's not a particularly good thing. To me it seems hyped. Somewhere along the line, it's probably also trying to capitalize on the recent data breaches/scandals.

Adzkii reacted to Staff in how to connect ps3 to vpn?   ...
    Hello!

We suggest the following solution. Please note that it will work only if you have at least two physical network interfaces in your computer. The PS3 will need to use a LAN cable, so if you have just one LAN card you can anyway connect your computer to your router via your WiFi card, if available.

This solution is suitable for Windows 7 and any other Windows system supporting ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) as well. It will work also with XBox consoles and in general with any other device with similar or higher networking abilities.

    1) Configure the PS3 IP networking.
IP address: same subnet of your Vista system BUT not the same IP address of your router and/or Vista system
Subnet Mask: this depends on your home network configuration, usually 255.255.255.0 is a safe choice, anyway if you have issues please try 255.255.0.0
Default router/Gateway: The IP address of your Vista system
Primary and secondary DNS servers: IP address of your Vista system

    2) Connect the PS3 to your computer via cable

    3) Connect your computer to your router via WiFi

    4) Connect your computer to an Air VPN server

    5) In your Vista system, go to your Control Panel->Network/Internet Setup, locate the TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 card, select its "Properties" and click on tab "Sharing". Enable (tick) the option "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet Connection". In the drop down list under "Home networking connection", select the PS3 connection to the Vista computer LAN interface (probably "Local Area Connection" or similar).

    6) Disconnect from AirVPN, then reset the LAN card. In order to do so, the quickest way is selecting your LAN interface (probably "Local Area Connection" or similar), disable it, wait a few seconds and then re-enable it.

    7) Re-connect your Vista system to AirVPN

After about a minute your PS3 should use your Vista system as a "gateway" and therefore use transparently AirVPN.

    Kind regards

    The findings
I always has an 100Mbit/s connection from my ISP. This always worked well with AirVPN I got about 92Mbit/s with this VPN.
Some days ago I got a 200Mbit/s connection from my ISP and the VPN speeds dropped to about 60Mbit/s and sometimes lower.
I tried several VPN and also different protocols. Even stunnel didn't fixed the problem.

    The solution
I often read about changing the MTU size or the mssfix value to 1300. This did not the Job for me.
My solution was the TCP Optimizer.
This tool can just be executed and must not be installed. It should be run in Administrator Mode.
(Right click on the exe file -> run as administrator)

Step 1 adjust your connection speed

Step 2 select your network adapter

    Step 3 Click on MTU/Latency

Step 4 Click on largest MTU
[do this once when you are connected to the VPN and once outside the VPN]

In VPN I got a result of maximum MTU 1300 and outside I had 1500.
Please share your results and your connection speed.

Step 5 Back to general settings

At the bottom choose "custom" set MTU to the calculated value and "apply changes".

Even after the changes not all AirVPN servers worked well for me. I will create a list with servers who worked with my options.

Please report your results if this helped you.

    This list is not complete:

    List of Server with 200Mbit/s

I *do* get scores and latency when Eddie starts up (after it automatically does its normal pinging of all servers). However, if I ever "Refresh" the list, then the scores and latency are cleared and won't ever return... unless I quit and restart Eddie.

The reason I ask about time is because depending on the environment the system may write out the space needed on the hard drive as soon as the torrent is started.  Since the hard drive is in 100% use for a time the torrent speed drops to 0.  Once the hard drive is done writing torrent speed goes up.  But, it sounds like you've been very patient.

5 star does not mean it will always perform better than a 4 star, just like in the hotels business
There is no meaningful way to tell which server will perform better from your location, without performing speed and latency tests
*after* connecting to the server. And that will consume to much bandwidth to do it for all ~190 servers on each start of Eddie.

Right now the formula is described in src/Lib.Forms/Controls/ListViewServers.cs.
This is an average of 2 factors: Your ping to the server (only a basic test, your pings to other destinations could vary after connecting),
and the amount of the current and total available bandwidth on the server.
There is no other known metric to evaluate the server before connecting.

    Good day to all,

I visit a site that blocks you for using VPN, so i used the feature Routes inside AirVPN settings to set the site to go on outgoing tunnel, i reconnected to a server so the settings are applied. Now when i visit the site that blocks you for using VPN . I get this error message "Your internet access is blocked"

I'm using ESET internet security. I whitelisted AirVPN program from aggressive HIPs. Also from the log files i see nothing from airvpn or the site i want to visit?

I haven't tried with all the servers but it seems it doesn't work, even avoiding openvpn fingerprinting (mssfix 130 for example). With Tor sometimes doesn't work and you must open a new circuit for that site to work. But as I said: you want to be able to connect to that website and you want to stay anonymous and avoid fingerprinting: use Tor. Period.
