    Hello!

Just to make things a little clearer: AirVPNs Eddie program changes Windows Firewall rules, when you use Network Lock. In the latest "Stable" Eddie client, 2.10, this capability can sometimes be broken by 3rd party programs such as those from Kaspersky. So if you want to use such programs, it's recommended that you use the Experimental Eddie client, as its version of Network Lock handles things differently. This then allows for Network Lock to potentially still work, when other 3rd party programs are being used. It's not a guarantee, but I think it's worth a try. Check my signature for more details.

Google scans Wifi APs, stores the data and maps them to the GPS location they were found.
They do it for at least several years:
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/22/google_streetview_logs_wlans/

Every time a Google car is taking street view photos, it also records all WiFI access points
it sees, and corresponds it to MAC<->GPS binding.

The best solution would be uninstalling all that "anti-theft" junk, because by using it you
are ignoring a constant theft of your privacy, which to some is more important than the hardware.

I'm still curious if the experimental client would've solved it for you. Did you ever try it?

Oh and I'd be careful around that suspicious "zhang888" person, as you never know if he'll suddenly build a wall somewhere and proceed to blame China for this "global warming hoax" it created, on his Twitter account!

Just don't name them Furud. It sounds like it could be a variant of some kind of unpronounceable Swedish fudge cake or something, that people really just prefer avoiding

With all due respect to Sweden of course. All hail IKEA.

Just felt like following up with this.   With a month left until renewal I  was getting quite anxious.  As I wanted to stay on Air, and wanted it to be anonymous.  Having the network lock function on Windows especially has proven quite useful to me and its a feature I just didn't want to give up.

So I caved in and went about buying bitcoins as anonymously as possible.

Pretty much picked up an Amazon gift card paid for in cash (no loading fee),  registered on  localbitcoins.com  and looked for a good rated seller trading BTC for Amazon Gift cards,  followed their instructions  and I got some bitcoins.
Paypal can  shove off I never liked them anyway.   Just glad to be rid of the headache

What is your OS configuration? Are you a local Administrator on your system?
Otherwise you cannot install and start high privileged apps like OpenVPN.

    Hello!

You need to find out what operating system your tablet is running and then you can download files as normal, like you did on your PC. Then there's various guides & how-tos which you can check out, when dealing with certain kinds of hardware & software. So, since that tablet is probably running Android, you could see if OpenVPN for Android works, for instance. I'm taking the "teaching you how to fish" approach, lol.

    Two steps:
    - Tell the AirVPN client to automatically connect when launched
    - Add the AirVPN client to Mint's "Startup Applications".

Here's a screenshot detailing all the steps:

I tried this with Mint 17.1 MATE, but the Cinnamon edition features the same "Startup Applications" tool, afaik.

Caveat: You still have to enter your sudo/user password every time AirVPN starts.
If that bothers you, you can edit the "sudoers" file to let you run AirVPN as root without having to enter any password.
If you're totally new to sudo and its sudoers file, I'd recommend reading Ubuntu's documentation first:
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sudoers
The paragraph "Shutting Down From The Console Without A Password" describes a similar use case to what we're doing here.
The only way to edit sudoers is on the command line using:

sudo visudo Add the following line to the very end of that file (replace the word "user" with your own user name):

user ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/airvpn Exit visudo with ctrl-x.

Go back into Mint's "Startup Applications", edit the AirVPN entry.
    Change its command from ..
    /usr/bin/airvpn to ..
    sudo /usr/bin/airvpn and reboot.

    Hello!

We're glad to inform you that starting from  Friday October 21st 2016 @ 23:59h CEST to Saturday October 22nd 2016 @ 04:00h CEST the Netherlands servers listed below will be relocated in a new cage. The expected downtime is four hours from the beginning of the relocation of each server.

    Alchiba
    Alcyone
    Alshat
    Alterf
    Atik
    Celaeno
    Diphda
    Elnath
    Gianfar
    Hassaleh
    Hyadum
    Kajam
    Merga
    Nash
    Salm
    Situla
    Skat
    Talitha
    Tarazed
    Zibal

This will allow to add AMS-IX and Telia direct connectivity as well as some extra peering to all of the aforementioned servers. After the re-location, therefore, we will have all the 44 servers in the Netherlands with direct AMS-IX and Telia connectivity.

Additionally, the uplink capacity to each public switch will be increased to 40 Gbit/s (currently it is 20 Gbit/s per switch).

    Kind regards
    AirVPN Staff

LZ1 reacted to T2%57_ct5 in DNS Servers in Mac OSX servers list   ...
    Good morning,

I have posted that my connection drops .... it seems to drop every 2 - 3 days and gets stuck on the checking route.

I use OS X El Capitan. For those of you using OS X on ethernet (if there are any), or, I guess any OS X members, what DNS servers do you have in your Network config on Mac? I'm using ATT, but I'm wondering if after a while, the DNS cannot resolve because it is in the AIRVPN tunnel, and cannot resolve with just the ATT DNS...what do you guys think?

When I can't connect, I have to quit EDDIE and restart. I'm using the beta version.

I hate to uncheck that checking DNS, but, if that won't cause leaks, I'm o.k. with that. Of course now, when I  quite and restart, I'm open.

    Thanks

LZ1 got a reaction from itsmefloraluca in Torrent Question   ...
    Hello!

Personally, I recommend using qBittorent, both because it's open-source software and because I think it's possible to make it bind to the VPN interface, thus only using the VPN interface for torrenting, while this may not (yet) be possible in uTorrent as easily. As DA623 said, you ought to go to ipleak.net and see if you're leaking anything. Try the test torrent as well. However with Network Lock on, you won't be leaking WebRTC either, even though ipleak shows you how to disable it anyway. Remember to do some portforwarding, to forward the port that your torrent client uses, so that things go faster .

LZ1 got a reaction from itsmefloraluca in Win10/OpenVPN DNS leaking   ...
Well I was assuming you were using Airs client, since it's an excellent client. NL is only available if you use Airs client, yes. I don't see a good reason to use the OpenVPN client much - Airs client is FOSS software, has been around for a while, is constantly being updated, has a huge amount of features and customizeability and really offers a lot which most other VPNs struggle to compete with. The experimental version of the client also offers more ways of dealing with IPv6 and features more ways to manage Windows related firewall issues. With NL on, you avoid many kinds of leaks, if the client doesn't already do so when it's disabled. I'm surprised that you're surprised that the tests passed actually - it could sound like you didn't think Airs software could manage that. I think your DNS issues are due to how Windows 10 handles DNS, which is/was said to be quite poor.

    Hello !

AHA! So THATS why it's called Eddie ! Very clever Staff! Nice Easteregg, hahahahaha.
Good work. make sure to give that Dev lots of datalove. But you know, Staff, you never specified which interfaces or ports we should forward for this Datalove you're sending, so how do we receive it?! I mean, does love come in a TCP or UDP stream for instance? zhang had advice on that. Kind regards!

Aha, how excellent, you're most welcome.

Now if you would please open Eddie, click the Air logo in the top left, then go to Preferences. In there, go to the Advanced tab and then DNS & set it to "Disabled" instead of Automatic, to see if that helps.
Do also uncheck the checkbox right underneath. Naturally, make sure that network lock is not on. Then hit save and see if it works. If it does, then there should be a button at the bottom right of my
post which lets you mark one of my posts as the solution, so that others can more readily find the solution as well.

Just adding my 2cents in support of the EFF. I appreciate the broad approach they have taken.

They advocate and try to educate politicians, which is important when the other side has such powerful lobbyists. They contribute legal briefs in court cases. They've advocated for issues relating to NSA surveillance, local surveillance like license plate readers and stingrays, DMCA and jailbreaking, patent trolling, online privacy, etc.

I like that they fight FUD helping people who are less tech savvy than those in this forum. They've supported software and services to increase the use of encryption with projects like HTTPS Everywhere and Let's Encrypt. They have also helped the press in various ways: making staff available for interviews to be a voice of reason on air, helping journalists who are not the most tech-savvy people with sensitive information, and pushing back against erosion of press freedom internationally.

https://www.eff.org/thanks shows their donors and fundraising partners, such as the Humble Bundle, the makers of Minecraft, the MacArthur Foundation, and many VPN providers. Air's logo ought to be in that page
