  1. One of the UK servers is called Bellatrix. Isn't this that witch from Harry Potter ? I think  it's not a star in this case...

Well in that case, AirVPN owes us a server called Hogwarts.

Then at least some of us might finally be able to attend!

The marketing people would have a field day as well:

AirVPN - the air to breathe the real internet The Only VPN With Enough DNS Servers At Hogwarts To Bypass That Magical Geoblocking Dem Wizards Got

    Usage would spike.

  2. i probably got zero clue on what the topic is, as usual

whether you are happy or mad about something but either way

i'm glad you are around and i enjoy not only your posts but

others as well, i mean that sincerely

any time i think i got a clue about networking or computers i come here

and confident that i'm probably inbred somehow

i could not afford to pay for what i learn off this forum, that's a simple truth

as for the discount whether asking or getting one

hey, if you get one awesome, if you ask for one awesome

if you don't want one awesome, if they don't give you one awesome

to see others care about encryption alone, and to be around that

    it helps me 'fit in'

hope all is well and you are doing ok even tho i don't know ya

    sincerely, cm0s

    Hello !

It seems he has decided to leave the forum; if you check General chat.

  3. Hello !

What surprises me most is that there's still no server called "Cloud" ^^.

Then we could make endless bad tech jokes! Just think of the community interaction!

    Someone: Where's the server?
Staff: It's in the Cloud !!!

    ------

Staff: Announcing our new server: Cloud. Now that's cloud-computing guys!

    ------

    *Server maintenance on Cloud server*

Staff: Cloudy with a chance of rain!

    -----

But hey, I'm just trying to inject some humor into your daily lives. I mean, a Cloud server would literally be a breath of fresh Air!!!

  4. I'm in India and Netflix worked perfectly for the past month but now seems to be giving me the same proxy error that everyone else is suffering from on this thread. I connect to USA servers mostly! Please do let me know if some solution does come up. It is definitely seems to have affected an increasing number of users over the past few weeks, so I'd request the Staff to look into it. Thank you!

    Hello !

That's because Netflix is cracking down on VPN/Proxy users in an effort to curb their avoidance of geo-blocking measures. Which is in itself something which comes from copyright holders telling Netflix to do so.

You can bet AirVPN works hard to keep things going though !

  5. Hello !

Welcome To AirVPN and its Community !!!

    That's better, isn't it? Haha.

I know it's not easy being new. As MeAndroid pointed out, you should always try to clear up your own problem before

bringing it to the community. HOWEVER, I know it's quite overwhelming when you're new to all this techy stuff .

I presume you've read the front-page and have thus seen why a VPN is useful (privacy/security).

However to your point, have you tried changing your server to a us server or some such? . You might also want to enable

"Network Lock", as it'll help ensure that all your computer "traffic" goes through AirVPN, as you might otherwise suffer from

"leaks" of various kinds. Such as DNS leaks; hence why you might get detected, as you said. Do note however, that Netflix

has been doubling down on blocking things like VPNs from using their service and that's why, even IF there's no leaks, it

*can* be a little more troublesome getting access to what you want to access. This is just a daily sort of struggle, but rest

assured, AirVPN staff are VERY competent and work very hard to ensure things go smoothly . Lastly, you can

try to go into your AirVPN client, called Eddie, and go to the "logs" tab and copy/paste it all into a forum post. Just

remember to attach spoilers; see my signature for how to do so. It might not solve your problem, but it might

help us help you . Oh and whenever you try a new VPN server, check out this site to see if the IP addresses

    match up:

    https://ipleak.net/

So if for example you're on a French server and the IP address is 13.145.535.256 or whatever, then that ipleak site

should be showing you that address, as that address should be what you're "showing" the world, instead of showing

    your real IP address.

    I hope this helps.

(I'm not an AirVPN rep by the way).

  6. Hello !

I believe that's a common sort of bug and it's because the normal settings don't return after AirVPN has changed them.

You can try go to your adapter settings and setting your DNS servers and IP address and all that to obtain automatically .

Alternatively, you can go into the Eddie client and copy/paste the logs here for us to see. Just remember to use spoiler tags.

  7. Hello !

I don't know if this helps, but here you go:

    https://airvpn.org/topic/17076-openvpn-allready-running/?p=38993

By the way, before the real pros (not me) ask, maybe you should attach your AirVPN logs in a spoiler or some such if possible.

Here's how you do it in case you're unsure

    https://airvpn.org/topic/16583-vpn-loses-connection-during-high-network-demand/?p=36538

We'll try to get your problem fixed . I know how it is dealing with something which just won't go away.

  8. Zhang888, thanks, you were right. I went into my phone's settings and manually put in 10.4.0.1 in the "DNS 1" block. This seems to have fixed the problem! Thanks!

So now that everything seems to be working, is there any other tests I can/should run to make sure it's actually doing what it should? Or is the IP Leak website test all I need to do?

I'd definitely say it couldn't hurt to check out that site

I don't know if it's relevant, but anyways:

  9. Please don't bump 4 year old threads

uTorrent should be avoided by any member that wishes to achieve anything

    related to privacy.

A closed source, owned by an Adware pushing enterprise client cannot be any

good to anyone but them, and their history of pushing Bitcoin mining malware

in their official client killed their reputation among the community - forever.

We have many great open-source, secure and private torrent clients for all

major platforms. Just to name a few, qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge and

many others. They do respect your privacy, at least by letting you select

your own interfaces, and they will never do anything you don't expect them

to, in terms of the protocol. So this forum should better announce free and

secure software rather than proprietary, closed and potentially dangerous.

Oh I didn't notice it was *that* old. I couldn't post, so I went looking for threads which might solve my problem. My bad!

I totally agree. I just switched to qBittorent and it's quite nice. I heard of that malware, but I didn't

realise it might come from uTorrent, so thanks ^^.

  10. Hello !

So Transmission is finally available on Windows, after having been mainly *nix based. I think that's good news in general, as it means more options.

    Here you go.

    https://torrentfreak.com/transmission-releases-long-awaited-bittorrent-client-for-windows-160327/

With a link to the download here, from the above article:

    https://download.transmissionbt.com/files/

Will anyone of you be checking it out on Windows?

    (If it's the wrong sub-forum, I apologize)

  11. Thank you very much for that detailed explanation! That was excellent. I understand now.

CA's seem quite useless, when put like that. But isn't there some sort of danger of impersonation? Like, couldn't someone

else take AirVPNs brand name and start issuing malicious versions of their software, especially as the code for the software is open-source?
