  1. Hello! That's most likely your TAP driver 9.21 speaking, OP. If you check the Eddie log you'll see which one you have. I suggest trying a different driver, as per the stickied thread in the troubleshooting forum . (The link andeby gave you. He beat me to the punch haha). Sent to you from me with datalove
  2. Hello! Are you using the latest stable version of Eddie? If so, perhaps you should check out the beta version . Sent to you from me with datalove
  3. Hello ! I once asked them about their servers and they weren't willing to give any real information. So in terms of a comparison, Air is much more transparent than ExpressVPN is; which matters a lot in terms of security. Sent to you from me with datalove
  4. Hello ! Seems a bit odd to use such a new browser as your main, but ok. You could use whatever browser you want, in a VM. I don't know why you assumed the browser extensions were paid either. Sent to you from me with datalove
  5. Hello ! It seems strange it has to be paid for. But do check out malwarebytes. Sent to you from me with datalove
  6. Hello ! I've been waiting on you to make this thread ;D. I suppose the problem is that the VPN industry has no official standards; which leaves users with the responsibility to select the best service, even though this might as well be done at random, if you don't understand any of the technical terms. As you've frequently said Zhang, a lot of VPN services are plagued by the 4 horsemen of poor practises: overselling, dishonesty, not transparent & poor technical standards. It's a shame when a VPN providers website design is better than their service, isn't it haha. You once said something to the effect of that VPS servers are not in themselves the problem; the problem is when you're not honest to your customers about using them. Perhaps that's worth adding I'd love to co-opt a guide with you on determining if a VPN service is good, but I don't know if anyone would even read it lol. I mention this because you state that one should double & triple-check a providers reputation, but I think many people aren't sure what to really look for, except superficial indicators such as "download speed" or number of countries covered; wherein it's quite possible to find 5-10 comments saying " yea it's really good!". Thanks for the link. Sent to you from me with datalove
  7. Hello ! This hints at what the Staff said above. Did you shut down Eddie properly or did you simply close your mac? Network Lock is supposed to prevent a connection if the VPN goes down. But if Eddie is shutdown incorrectly (not via its own menus), then NL has no chance to restore previous networking settings, as the Staff already said. Sent to you from me with datalove
  8. You're most welcome . Beyond the tips already provided in my guide in the troubleshooting section or trying out the latest TAP driver, no not really, unless you want try out more involved things. I don't know which driver you installed, but as giganerd shows on around page 3 or 4 of that thread, there's a newer version out - compared to if you just went by what was shown on page 1. Please feel free to test different ones to find out what's suitable for you. The latest experimental version of Eddie already comes with the newest one automatically as well. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, it's also good to take a closer look at which servers you use. Giganerd for instance, has found that specific servers work particularly well for him, due to his ISP or some such having closer ties to certain other ISPs/countries. BGP routes. You can do a speedtest by downloading a Linux distro, such as Ubuntu, if you want a perhaps more realistic take on your speeds; as opposed to only using the AirVPN speedtest . However if you're torrenting for instance, you should definitely look into some port forwarding, as it'll most definitely help your speeds. Since you're new, it's worth mentioning that not all VPNs accept torrenting/P2P, but AirVPN does and it also rejects any DMCA requests, so you're safe. There's of course many more tweaks you can try; all of varying levels of difficulty. For instance, maybe your router isn't so good or perhaps there's other things interfering with your connection. That's up to you to find out and get involved with, if you desire. But feel free to ask around if you need help. Welcome to AirVPN Sent to you from me with datalove
  9. Hello ! It seems you still have TAP driver version 9.21, so I recommend trying out other versions. Simply go to the top of the troubleshooting forum, to find the thread that mentions TAP drivers in the title. Big +1 for posting logs in spoilers! Sent to you from me with datalove
  10. Hello! Are you using the latest stable version of Eddie? You could try out the beta/experimental version. Did you try other entry ports, instead of 443 and so on? Is your ISP known to be restrictive? As I wonder why you're using SSH/SSL. You could try run a tracert in cmd, to see where the problem might be. Perhaps you need to try out some different servers too, if you haven't Sent to you from me with datalove
  11. Hello! Which version of Eddie are you using? If you're using it. Perhaps you should try the latest experimental version. It would also be best with full logs. Sent to you from me with datalove
  12. Hello! I'm glad you like it OP. May I recommend that you check out Tapatalk? To easily browse the forums . I'm glad you trusted yourself enough to take a leap of faith and try this stuff out. Welcome to AirVPN. Sent to you from me with datalove
  13. Hello! That's nice. I think Air prides itself on its tech-centric approach . Have you increased your send and receive buffers to 256kb by the way? Perhaps higher even. You can also check which server is best for you, based on your location. Ask giganerd about BGP routes . Lastly, are you sure you don't need to forward some ports or something for your server? Sent to you from me with datalove
  14. Hello! Are you trying to use googles DNS? If so, I'd be curious why and suggest that you use Airs. Make sure your IPv4 protocol settings are set to "Obtain automatically" in the IP and DNS fields Sent to you from me with datalove
  15. Hello ! It sounds like you need to do some portforwarding, which is a way of letting Air know which "virtual doors" you're expecting your torrent data to come knocking on, so that Air can let it through. I hope that's non-techy enough ;D. Feel free to check my guide, as it might answer many other questions you might have. It's in my signature. But do check out the FAQ section of the forum, as it has a post on portforwarding. You basically need to use the port number in your torrent client and put it in the "remote port forwarding" area of this site, in the "Client Area" tab. If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Welcome to AirVPN Sent to you from me with datalove
  16. Hello! Is this what it is: "The Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) is an Internet exchange point situated in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. AMS-IX started in 1994 and is a fast-growing, non-profit, neutral and independent peering point. The AMS-IX is one of the largest Internet Exchanges in the world." If so, that sounds really sexy ^=^. Thanks Air. Was there something which prompted this change? It seems rather random. Sent to you from me with datalove
  17. Hello! During previous bugs I had, turning off WFP helped, after a save and exit. Have you tried checking your TAP drivers are working? Perhaps a re-install of the drivers is needed. Or perhaps there's remnants from past Eddie installs. It could be nice with full logs. In spoilers Sent to you from me with datalove
  18. Hello! Do you have any logs that you could make available, from the Air client? It should also remove itself entirely when asked. Sent to you from me with datalove
  19. Hello ! Is your firewall blocking ICMP packets by any chance? If something is blocking the Air ICMPs, you could try allowing them. Because the Air client has to ping its servers to get their latency and thus order things in relation to what's recommended . If it can't, that might explain why your connect to recommend doesn't work. Oh and please use spoiler tags for your logs in the future. They're so minimalist and snazzy ;D Sent to you from me with datalove
  20. Hello! Perhaps you should check out the latest experimental version of the Eddie client and see if that works. I think there was a similar resolve issue on Fedora, but it got resolved(pun soooo intended), so maybe you'll benefit too. Just go to where you normally download the client . Sent to you from me with datalove
  21. Hello ! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Firstly, go to your steam settings, in the top left corner and check out the various options. You'll find some relating to servers. Set it to your location and depending on your speeds, set the download to unlimited. It can help. Then go to your AirVPN program, the Eddie client and go to its server list. Then, in the bottom right corner, sort based on "Latency", instead of speed. Then connect to the server at the top of your server list, by double-clicking it. Do note, that the most geographically close servers (sadly) aren't automatically the best and/or fastest ones for you. Then, if you've got a speedy connection, try go to the top left corner in the Eddie program and go to preferences. In there, look for General or Advanced settings and set the send and receive buffers to 256kb. You can also check out my guide, in my signature under this post. In the " After downloading Eddie" section, there's some tips on making things go faster if speeds are slow. You may have to look into some portforwarding business and/or firewall settings, to obtain the best performance. You can check out the official AirVPN FAQs for that, in the community index, as well as my guide. Sorry I can't be more helpful, as I don't have the relevant programs in front of me and am thus going by memory. But feel free to ask if you have any other questions. Welcome to the PC master race? /lol. Sent to you from me with datalove
  22. Hello! I'd like to ask you if you've tried using DDGs hashbang system, which is convenient. Such as if you type !yt you'll end up directly on youtube. Hehe. I recommend that you ask Github about it. Even if we did have an answer, it would be interesting to see what Github says and it might answer your question better than we can Sent to you from me with datalove
  23. Hello ! Maybe you should check out this previous topic: https://airvpn.org/topic/16841-port-forwarding-safe/ That's what I'm thinking. I knew I had linked to it in my guide, so I went digging lol. In the security section. Sent to you from me with datalove
  24. Of course of course, I get you. I think we all see a lot of potential for Air, haha. I think it's excellent that you chose to share your thoughts, ideas and enthusiasm in such a constructive way. Air will most definitely consider your proposal. Especially after a couple of months when they re-visit the subject I think. It's just that there should be reasons, in line with Airs mission, for setting up a server. Air isn't quite the kind of VPN that would set up a server just for x content to be available for y people. There's a topic called "Poor Pia" in the off-topic forum that you might be interested in reading, in regards to the Russian situation. Thank you for the compliment. I hope they'll be useful for you! 25. Hello ! @xairv I just want to politely remind you and anyone else who might be reading this nice discussion, that zhang, despite the moniker "Staff", is not an AirVPN employee and so does not speak on behalf of AirVPN officially. It's more like "Volunteer Staff" or "Forum Staff" (quoting Staff account). Only the Staff account, which now replied already, is the official voice of AirVPN . Just to be clear, as it could sound like you were making efforts to persuade Zhang, when it's not him who's in charge . I'd love more servers personally. But not at the expense of the quality that Air is known to maintain. I think you make some good points though. How about getting Air to support grassroots organisations instead, like the EFF and others, which fight for our digital rights, so that they can help change the legal landscape in the various countries around the world? Then we'd get more servers too, surely . Sent to you from me with datalove
