All, maybe you didn't see this tweet https://twitter.com/airvpn/status/865895863041785857 regarding a throughput record.  It is possible to max out a server but it'll only be 500mbit/s to the end user because the corresponding 500mbit/s inbound to the server counts against the 1gbit/s max.  Of course, some servers may actually have higher capabilities but 1gbit/s is what's guaranteed by the datacenter.  And, you're hitting against the maximum capabilities of the encryption unit.

The 4mbit/s guarantee by AirVPN is based on statistics of their overall system as I understand it.  It doesn't guarantee that all users of a given server will be able to get 4mbit/s always.  There's no way they could make that promise because every user is on a local system and using an ISP with many various problems of their own.  What it does guarantee is that if all customers were on at once AirVPN has the worldwide bandwidth to be able to offer all customers 4mbit/s.  But, it's up to the customer to pick the server with bandwidth available and up to the customer to have all problems on their end solved.

It's easier with the new version of Eddie (available now as Experimental).

    GIF:

Note: only in Windows and Linux edition. macOS will be available soon.

Note that AirVPN account or subscription is not required: AirVPN can even be totally removed as VPN provider.

Remember: The features 'Check Tunnel' and 'Check DNS' are AirVPN servers specific, so they will not be performed on other .ovpn files.
The full conversion of Eddie to a generic OpenVPN wrapper is still under development, currently it's an hybrid (for example Settings contains AirVPN specific options that will be moved in the future).

In any case, collecting feedback about how Eddie works with .ovpn of other VPN providers will be interesting. Maybe a dedicated forum.

    All:

I am a recent subscriber to the AirVPN service.  I would classify myself as a newbie as far as networking issues are concerned.  With the awareness that the quality of our experience here is largely based on my willingness to participate and share in discussions, I decided to also share my own experience with AirVPN.

Particularly with the Linksys WRT1900ACS v2, I am happy to report that my experience is in line with lemming's.  I have installed DD-WRT on 3 such devices, and I have set up AirVPN on one such router.  I am so very pleased to report that my router has maintained a connection to AirVPN's service for over 4 days uninterrupted.  Each device connected to the network has shown an ability to download nearly to the maximum of its own capacity due to hardware limits.

I must say that I am thrilled my experience with these routers and AirVPN has been so well above my expectations.

I don't have much experience with linux either but the pfsense documentation was enough for me to install onto a self built router/gateway and the guide in this forum for getting pfsense running with a good, safe openvpn config was very helpful.

When this happens to me, I start system monitor, kill mono (if its running) and kill openvpn, then you can restart eddie. The only way I've found to log anything was to start eddie via the command line.

Your opinion is not that wrong. But even if it supports such practices to a certain degree, this money also goes to your favourite actors and movie crews. It is them who make a movie a movie in the first place.A more sane view on it would be to look for legal options as much as you can and only resort to file sharing if you don't find anything useful. Streaming is in a terrible state in my opinion but it gets better. Just, please, don't download just because you don't have to pay.

go558a83nk reacted to Xiaxue in Can not access some OpenNIC TLDs (and some peers)   ...
    Hi,

I understand that AirVPN is using OpenNIC as its DNS, however, I can not access some OpenNIC TLDs, for example:
    http://www.opennic.chan
    http://be.libre
    http://register.neo
    http://opennic.oz
    http://reg.dyn
    http://register.gopher

    What works:
http://www.nic.fur (FurNIC which OpenNIC peers with)
    http://opennic.glue
    http://register.bbs
http://opennic.free -- .free being phased out; it's new version is .libre which is not accessible from AirVPN
    http://opennic.geek
    http://www.parody
    http://reg.oss

    * If I shutdown AirVPN, I can access all the TLDs including those that OpenNIC peers with.
    * I have to add OpenNIC's tier 2 DNS in Eddie > DNS setting to access all OpenNIC TLD (and peers) via AirVPN

    Is this a bug?

ahh...I had in mind an older version of the AC66.  You've got one with a dual core ARM CPU, at 1000mhz.  Yes, you should be able to get about 40mbit/s with that I'd imagine.  Just experiment with it.  There are plenty of ideas in all sorts of threads on this forum.  Besides changing port and protocol you should be able to do many extra things by adding the option in the custom config area.  To change port and protocol just change that setting only, and click save.  No need to upload a new config each time. When you're testing a download make sure both core are being used.  In Merlin it should put openvpn on a different core from kernel work if you use openvpn client 1.

    In Germany:
    Aquilae - Menkib - Seginus - Tauri - Velorum - Wezen

    In Singapore:
    Aries

The aforementioned servers have been already replaced by 6 new servers in two datacenters in Germany:

We're very glad to inform you that six new 1 Gbit/s server located in Germany are available: Cervantes, Errai, Ogma, Lepus, Libertas. Perseus.

The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, If you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").

The servers accept connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194, 2018 UDP and TCP.

Just like every other Air server, they also support OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.

As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

Please note that these servers will replace older servers in Germany. Some of the older Germany servers will be withdrawn at the end of June 2017, according to our plans of hardware renewal and lines improvements.
