    Transparency reports on AirVPN mission

Hello! We are starting to publish "transparency mission reports" to add information and clarifications about the reasons of our support to projects, persons and NGOs. While the organic summary, as well as the mission statements, remains in https://airvpn.org/mission page, the reports will provide important explanations and insights. Our first report, covering the first five 2019 months, has just been published here: Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Staff

Fantastic guide. I learned a lot from reading it too. 3 question though. 1. Why when you run the suspend VPN gateway .bat file does your torrent client (deluge for me) no longer show you as being connectable even though incoming connections are taking place? 2. I had to omit the incoming rules for the torrent client because when I used "10.4.0.0/16" I was unable to receive incoming connections with the VPN gateway being suspended. Should that be the case? 3. Is it necessary to use the Open VPN client as opposed to the AirVPN client in order for this to work? Thanks again.

HOW TO FORWARD PORTS TO YOUR DEVICES WITH IPTABLES You need to create a basic DNAT on your router. Remember that the router GUI forwards ports from the WAN to LAN. When connected to the VPN you must forward ports from TUN to LAN. Therefore, it is imperative that you do NOT forward ports in the GUI of the router. Assuming that: destIP is the IP address of the destination deviceport is the port you wish to forward to that devicetun1 is the tun interface of your router (please check! on some routers it can be tun0, on Tomato it can be tun11)you need to forward both TCP and UDP packetsyou need to add the following rules. Please note that the following rules do NOT replace your already existing rules, you just have to add them. iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p udp -d destIP --dport port -j ACCEPT iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p tcp -d destIP --dport port -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p tcp --dport port -j DNAT --to-destination destIP iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p udp --dport port -j DNAT --to-destination destIP Note: if your router firmware iptables supports the multiport module you can use --match option to make your rules set more compact. Please see here, thanks to Mikeyy https://airvpn.org/topic/14991-asuswrt-merlin-multiple-ports/?do=findComment&comment=31221 Kind regards

Can AirVPN be installed on my router?

I am running XP Pro, but would prefer to install AirVPN on my router (MikroTik hex rb750gr3). I'm finding conflicting info on whether or not this is possible, and hoping someone here can decipher this, and provide a definite answer. From what I have been able to figure out, the AirVPN client is not compatible, which leaves OpenVPN client as the only possibility. Here things become murky. According to MikroTik site (https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/OpenVPN) it is supported. According to other forums, it is not supported very well. I'd like to hear opinions as to whether or not installing AirVPN on my router is likely to be successful, or more likely a waste of time. If the latter, any suggestions for a replacement router to buy? Note that I will purchase 'wired-only' routers, and my budget ends at $300. I never buy any sort of wireless, wi-fi, or bluetooth devices. So far, the only 'wired-only' routers I have found are Cisco and Ubiquiti brands.

Hi LZ1, I'm in my second year at AIRVPN but keep returning to your FAQ. (I must lack some tech - knowledge). You might adjust the Glasnost-link, because the Max Planck Institute took it down due to the deprecation of Java.

Wow LZ1 thank you for the myriad helpful information you have compiled. I'm really just getting back up on securing my self and info as well as enhancing my privacy and anonimity with the worsening climate we all must acclimate to. I spent much time researching JUST which VPN to potentially go with, and I'm only lucky I bookmarked a post on medium I came across some months back that spoke so highly of the Air service and community. So now, I can resume with researching my potentially questionable behaviour, depending on which state level actor may be concerned, with just a bit more grit and knowledge under my belt. Kudos again to you and all the wonderful people helping out on here.

    UK - Virgin

We cross-checked the reports of dozens of our customers with Virgin Media UK, asking them to resolve "airvpn.org" on two of Virgin DNS servers. Since all the reports matched exactly throughout one year, we can safely assume that the reports are reliable. It is also worth mentioning that DNS poisoning of airvpn.org is intermittent, and when contacted directly about the issue, Virgin Media responded to us that it was a technical problem, totally unintentional. How are we supposed to know? All in all even the cyber workers of the government of China are interested in our web site, not only with DNS poisoning but also IP blocking. Who knows, maybe it's really just an obscure technical error that re-occurs periodically. Kind regards
