Recommended Posts

tunnelblick won't resolve the earth.airdns.org server when I have my primary DNS server set to 10.4.0.1 and secondary set to 10.5.0.1

when I switch primary to 8.8.8.8 I can connect.

Hello!

That's correct, because 10.*.0.1 are VPN IP addresses: they can be accessed only from within the private network, they are not public. You need a public DNS to resolve domain names while your system is disconnected from the VPN (except OpenDNS which is currently breaking *.vpn.airdns.org resolutions for unknown reasons).

Alternatively:

- select "Advanced Options" in the Configuration Generator

- tick both "Resolved hosts in .ovpn file" and "All servers for area or region"

In this way the CG will generate files which contain only IP addresses, solving the problem at its roots.

Kind regards

thanks solves also my issue of why I was getting hit and miss issues with my Router using AirVPN dns servers,  I find Openic logless DNS servers best to use here:

Plenty that can be used here,   I would avoid using 8.8.8.8 I think that is a google dns server so every site you log onto is logged by google.
