Any suggestions for email providers?

Recommended Posts

I will be cancelling my (nsa outlook) account this month, no more american based services for me. I'm giving Runbox's 30 day trial a shot for now, anyone have suggestions for an economical private email provider?

Thank you!

There are not many sadly check here for more details on the few that remain

It would appear picking a email provider inside of US and UK and other english speaking countries is a big no no and under nsa

A few european email providers are still around,  I still like hushmail but they have in the past handed over emails to authorities... Riseup is not taking any more people on board and you have to pass there test which some fail and are US based so sooner or later perhaps nsa get them also.

European ones seem best,  obviously best to stay a million miles away from google mail, hotmail, yahoo.

also check here:

has other alternative and more stronger and safer emails,  but these usualy involve much higher security but work more better.

Use any email provider that doesn't compel you for your phone number, just make sure to use a vpn or tor while accessing it always. You could find a few remailers too and hook them up to one another. https://prism-break.org/ gave a few alternatives, but one's paid and the other is U.S based.

Bitmessage Mail Gateway is intended for use with Bitmessage but can be used for regular email to email communication. Their clearnet site is hosted in Switzerland and they also have a Tor hidden site.

You can follow their thread on the Bitmessage forum.

There is also a new Tor-only email provider here for email communication exclusively within the Tor network.

TorBox

This is currently another Tor-only internal email service, but they are looking to interchange mail with other Tor email providers. They are also working on providing a secure and private way to relay mail to the clearnet which was the really tricky thing that Tor Mail achieved. It looks like in future there will be multiple Tor hosted email providers capable of exchanging mail with each other which would solve the centralisation problem. This is a scenario we have seen before with file sharing. Attacking a part of the Internet causes it to decentralise and become more resilient.
