ANSWERED Airvpn has Stopped Working

Recommended Posts

I've been using Airvpn since May 2012 without any problems. Then this week I can log in using the client, select a server and get the connected message and window. No error messages. But when I open my browser I cannot access any webpages. I disconnect Airvpn, open the browser and everything's fine.

I've tried completely uninstalling OpenVPN and removing all traces, then re-installing. Nothing makes any difference. I've tried to find the Logs that people on these forums talk about but cannot.

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

Hello!

Can you please tell us your OS?

About the logs, if you use Windows and the Air client, you can find them by right-clicking the Air client dock icon and selecting "Logs". After that please click "Copy to clipboard" and paste into your message.

Kind regards

Hello!

Let's check whether it's a DNS problem.

While connected to any VPN server, could you please open a command prompt and send us the output of the following commands:

ipconfig /flushdns
ping 10.4.0.1
ping google.com
ping 8.8.8.8

Kind regards

Hello,

yes, it's a DNS problem.

First, please try a Winsock sockets and TCP IP stack reset, then reboot the system. Please see here:

https://airvpn.org/topic/8320-solved-connects-but-ip-doesnt-change-on-windows-server-essentials-2012/?do=findComment&comment=8321

If the reset does not solve the issue, force 10.4.0.1 as primary (preferred) DNS in your physical network card (WiFi or Ethernet). In order to do that, please see http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/15037-dns-addressing-how-change-windows-7-a.html

Kind regards

Hi

I followed the procedure to rest the Winsock sockets and TCP IP stack, rebooted. No difference

So I followed the guide to set the primary DNS to the value you provided. That didn't work either. I lost all connectivity on that card.

I also got an error, "The remote name could not be resolved:'airvpn.org' "when tried to log in to Airvpn

Hi

I didn't set an alternate DNS the first time. After I set the primary to 10.4.0.1 and an alternative it works and I'm up and running again.

Many thanks for your help in resolving this problem (pun intended).
