"Remember me" not working for sign in?

I happened to "Sign out" from AirVPN, and now I find some unusual behaviour with signing in.

 

The "Remember me" check box does not work. If I close the browser window, then when I connect again I am not shown as signed in. I am a "Guest". I just go to the forum as a guest, I can see my user ID as supposedly signed in! But I cannot do anything as me (e.g., go to "Client Area") without being forced to sign in.

 

At first I thought this may be a new feature to improve security. But since the "Remember me" check box is still there, and since my sign in session appears to have been left behind when I closed the browser and I do not get reconnected to it, I suspect this is actually a bug.
