How to check that all traffic use the tunnel?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Is there a quick and easy way to check if all internet traffic is going through the tunnel and that some software isn't bypassing it? I'm on Win7 using AirVPN client and Comodo firewall.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the stupid question

Hello,

with Comodo firewall it's easy and quick to check that, look at the "View Active Connections" window.

Traffic to/from your VPN IP (10...) is tunneled. Traffic to/from your computer physical network card IP address (for example 192.168...) must be only to/from the server entry-IP you're connected to (normally only openvpn.exe will have such established connection).

See also here about how Comodo can help you prevent any possible leak, even when system processes running with high privileges try to bypass the tunnel (see svchost.exe for DNS leaks) or even when the VPN disconnects unexpectedly:

Kind regards

Hello!

How to do that with Avast Internet Security built-in firewall? Is it posible to see if it's encrypted?

Using AirVPN of course!

I am a little bit confused now regarding this HowTo:

https://airvpn.org/topic/3405-windows-comodo-prevent-leaks/

In the first screeshot I see an entry in NetworkZones: "AirVPN.org IP 85.17.207.151".

under 12) I see   95.211.138.143 airvpn.org

in onother post I read:

"The hosts file is located in
%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\
where %systemroot% is usually C:Windows, so the path would be
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\
The information about airvpn.org resolution is outdated, please add the following lines:
85.17.207.151 airvpn.org
212.117.180.25 airvpn.org"

Could you please clarify the above?

Thanks !

Hello,

all those IP addresses are airvpn.org public frontend servers. They are all on-sync, in real time.

Kind regards
