windows server 2012 essentials cannot connect to any server

I have installed the airvpn client, after installing openvpn from the windows 8 download. I can start airvpn, login and choose a server but none of them connect.

 

I have added openvpn.exe to my windows firewall allowing all incoming and outgoing traffic and added a port forwarding on my router for port 1194 to my server running openvpn. I have tried with windows firewall disabled as well an still no connection

The problem is in this log entry:

Assuming that it's not your ISP the one blocking outgoing UDP packets, please check your network connectivity, and also check your firewall, antivirus and any packet filtering tool (including PeerGuardian, PeerBlock etc.). Make sure they do not block OpenVPN and/or outgoing UDP packets.

 

What happens if you connect to a TCP port?
