DNSLeak - German Google DNS servers when VPN connected?

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone can explain this.

When I connect to the VPN - an NL server - and run the DNS Leaktest (dnsleaktest.com) it shows my ISP DNS (expected) but it also shows three German Google DNS servers - I'm not in Germany or Europe. When I run the test without being connected to the VPN, I just see my ISP?

Thanks

Hello!

It's correct, our servers first perform internal resolution (to bypass ICE censorship and allow access to internal services) then, if necessary, send out a DNS query to Google DNS.

Kind regards

I'm a bit confused, too.

So these 3 Google DNS servers are part of your routing?

If I fix my DNS leaks, I would ideally have exactly these 3 Google servers still listed. Is that correct?

Thanks for the reply, however, I don't understand why you're sending DNS queries to non-public Google DNS servers?
