iwih2gk 98 Posted ... I want to run this by you guys because I have a small project to complete this weekend - hopefully - and I am a little sketchy on it. Lets say I use Airvpn Android (wondering if version 4 is production ready yet even though its beta) on my flagship Samsung. I also have openvpn setup and working on my router for LAN access when I am not at home ( Also DDNS is setup and working as well). I currently connect to it using an app --- not related to airvpn at all. I am looking for a slick way to simply copy a certificate from/to the router so that AIRVPN can do all I need. To help you picture my quest: I want to be able to connect to my home router while I am away so that my security system can send alerts to me from LAN. I will NEVER give my cameras and security devices internet access for any reason --- only LAN. So then in my perfect quest the security app on my Android will receive alerts if something happens because the camera system will see the Android as being on LAN for that ONE app. I do NOT want to walk around having to use my router VPN for all my Android activities. Its too slow being openvpn and only has a midrange chipset, which is far inferior to my flagship Android. Hope this makes sense. So then I am envisioning a form of split tunneling. I don't know if I could simply use the OpenVPN connect app I am using now while using Airvpn for other things/apps. Another complication is that I love Wireguard on my Android but my stupid router vpn is limited to openvpn only. I will replace it someday but life is expensive! Is there any chance I could somewhat easily accomplish what I need? Any links or suggestions to simplify my seeing the needed scheme? ps - I realize and can manually keep clicking things on and off to connect but I want my security system to reach out 100% of the time and yet NO router being used by my Android otherwise just full on Airvpn Android. We're able to answer to this question only and we'll leave the other matter to community discussion. Unfortunately not, version 4.0.0 beta 2 is unstable and not production ready. Beta 3 version is imminent and addresses this instability and various nasty bugs. By the way, if you need OpenVPN, you can reliably use Eddie Android 3.3.0, the stable version, which is rock solid. Eddie 4 beta versions anyway do not add anything relevant to OpenVPN except minor OpenVPN-AirVPN library updates. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post

I already use 3.3.0 on android and it works flawlessly using wireguard protocol. Never even a flinch its perfect. Since I am not really dealing with country firewalls like China I don't know if amnezia wireguard would add anything to my scenario. I don't need it for now but since I am redoing my setup I figured why not --- however as you quoted using a "beta" might create ongoing issues for me. Community: The real issue is I won't use openvpn because my Wireguard is over twice as fast and is flawless. However; I am stuck with openvpn on my router until I switch it out. It is not a model that openwrt supports at all and the mfg has stated it won't update to wireguard vpn on this router. Boooo! So is there a way to wireguard walking around with my Android and yet somehow use an app to openvpn into my router like I do now using the router certificate? Can't visualize how to quite do this short of manually logging in and out all the time, but I prefer to setup an automatic handshake and keep life simple. Maybe split tunneling where I VPN Android Eddie wireguard for everything (excluding the router app) and then have the router app OFF vpn (split tunnel option). In this fashion I could then manually connect to LAN since the app is outside of the Wireguard VPN tunnel and openvpn would still function well just slower than wireguard ever is. BUT - then how if at all to automate this process when I leave the house and wifi drops going back to data use? Quote Share this post Link to post
