AirVPN on Android (Nexus 7, unrooted)

I was curious if AirVPN does, in fact, work on an unrooted Android tablet (based on my experience with Nexus 7 it does)? I downloaded OpenVPN connect from the Play store, generated the files necessary and put them in a folder in the normal area of Nexus 7 (i.e. not at root level, without root access). Then I imported in OpenVPN Connect and hit connect. It shows me as connected to the VPN. Nothing about my connection listed in the status bar changed, but in the notification area I have an OpenVPN: Connected message with my VPN IP address. Is this just an unsupported workaround (or perhaps the Android support area should be updated?) or is there some reason to believe this isn't working although it appears that it is?

That's correct, for Android 4.0 and later versions rooting is no more necessary, an official client by OpenVPN Technologies is available. You're just fine, you don't need any further configuration.
